Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() my plan called for: GOALS: Swim: - 4h ACTUAL THRU TODAY:
Not to far away from plan. Im still having problems with PF and a bum knee so I opted for elliptical training instead of running when it was really bad. I should be able to get in an hour or so on the bike before we close the door on January. Wil have to find some time in the next few days to firm up February plans including the race on Presidents Day. I had planned to do a Half Marathon on Feb 17 but looks like Im going to shorten that to a 10k. My 14 year old son, Phillip, wants to run the 10k and I really want to run it with him. I think I will enjoy it a lot more crossing the finish like with him. I know that the time is coming when he doesn't want to run with his Dad so Im going to take advantage of it. |

![]() ![]() | ![]() Well guys...good job w/ the Feb. goals...I have no idea what I do or even could do in a month...I guess I just don't train that way. My goal is to keep doing what I'm doing...though not today's workout as it sucked!...but to continue working out 6 days a week gradually increasing my distances in the 3 areas. I'll try that for Feb and see how my progress comes along. I believe I met my Jan goals. I'm going to continue to try and get healthier eating habits...all I want to lose is 5 flipping pounds and you'd think it was 50 for gosh sakes...regardless I am going to rededicate myself to that task...I'll spare you the details but it's an ongoing goal. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() How are you all doing? I have been taking sneek peaks at logs but I have been really swamped at work and haven't had time for inspires. Looks to me like you all are doing pretty good! I'm impressed with Lisa's advance at swiming! Way to go girl! I'm struggling a bit wit a sore lower back (not quite sure what is going on). I hope to be back on track with the inspires soon. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello from the frozen East coast... I have been sick as a dawg and swamped at work. Not a good combination! I've updated my logs, although no exercise has been done in a week. It is amazing how much you miss the routine and pick-me-up from a good workout once you can't do it. Thanks for the "Inspire Me's" but I think I'm on the mend now... January totals:
I missed 3 swim session, 3 bike sessions, 2 runs and... well... I need to get back into the swing with the core work. February Goals (ammended for sick loss):

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all! How are your workouts going? It actually feels good to get a sweat going ( even if it was from snow shoveling instead of biking or running) |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey kids... Are we still doing this thing? |
![]() ![]() |
Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Im still here... set a personal best 10k on Saturday!!! |
![]() ![]() |
Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm still in. Had a slow weekend but moving forwrd. Short indoor tri next weekend (15:00 per event) then need to ramp up my running. (25k in may is going to sneak up on me.) Ken |

![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm in too! I'm plugging away...chipping away at the distances and then plan to work on speed. My 10 year old son was critiqueing (spelling) me in the pool this past week and he told me I look just like the people on tv only 10 times slower! ![]() |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm still here also! I think we have been using the inspire function more than the thread lately. I had a great race yesterday. I'll have the race report up soon and you'll be able to pick it apart I like to keep my candence between 90 and 100. There are others that shoot for 80 - 90. Alot of it I think depends on how it feels to you and what happens to your heart rate. At this stage stay aerobic and keep building that base. I'm looking like I'll come up short on my Feb. goal in both the run and the bike. As I have said before I like to set the bar high. I will say this much given my performance yesterday and am very happy with where i am at! |
![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for the input...you know I've never done anything with heart rate before...when I do my best I just try to go as hard as I can and whatever my heart rate is so be it...how do you find measuring your heart rate a benefit? A motivator to try and go even harder? PS I am not concerned that any of my workouts will put in some sort of danger zone...heart rate wise. Also any need to mix up the bike routine? |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I use my heart rate as an indication of how hard I am going. In the pool it is more of a precieved thing as my monitor doesn't work int he water very well. On the bike and on the run I use it to make sure I don't go anerobic (unless that is what I am shooting for). As for the stationary bike I won't be much of a help. I ride my road bike on a trainer and spin away (changing the restistance by changing gears). Maybe on of the other guys might have some advice on that one! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well guys I am going to come up short on my goals for the month. Starting the month with a sore back and now I have it back again (I lifted something at work I should not have). No training today except snow removal - which hurt enough. I'm hoping the spasms will die down enough so i can swim tomorrow. Actually if that happens I could reach the swim goal. I was up very late last night waiting for daughters who were out in the snowstorm to come home. They were taught better than that! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, as long as I make it to the pool in the morning I should make my Feb. goals. Since I have a 25k early in May, I'm going to leave swiming and bikeing the same and ramp up my running quit a bit. Here it is March Goals-Bike 175 miles-Run/Stairs 8hrs- Swim 15000 yard |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() March Goals 1. Watch all this snow melt (about two feet worth in the last week) 2. Bike - 200 miles (I haven a Century the end of April I want to do) 3. Swim - 20000 yds 4. Run - 30 miles 5. Strength - 1 hour It is time for me to buckle down as June 3 isn't that far away! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok Steve and anyone else who is intersted,Looks like our goals are are prety close. How about a "race"? Convert your running to Min. (I'll still be indoors for a while with no way to track miles & I still count my time on the stairs as running.)Bike -- total milesRun -- timeSwim -- total yards. No ribbon at the finish line and no T-shirt, just some good motivation to keep on keepin on.Interested???PeaceKen Edited by kdogtoo 2007-03-02 8:44 PM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ken - I'm in! Let me convert my miles to minutes tomorrow morning as I'm sipping a good cup of joe and I'll we're on! Maybe if others want to join in but not to the level we are going at we could work out some percentage factor? The more the merrier in a deal like this! |
![]() ![]() |
![]() ![]() | ![]() My March goal is to introduce some interval training into my workouts...not sure of the particulars quite yet but will work thru that this weekend. This morning I met a goal that I had set for myself but was afraid to verbalize as I wasn't quite convinced that I could or would do it but.....I SWAM A MILE nonstop...first time ever...I was pleased! ![]() |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Nicely done Lisa, keep up the good work. |
![]() ![]() |
Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I could do a "race" on the bike and swim but my PF is acting up again and this time I'm off the running till it heals permanantly. Its been nagging me since last August and I have reached the point I just have to quit running at all until it heals. |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Nice Job Lisa! A mile non stop. Next thing you know you'll be telling us you signed up for an IM! |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Why don't we turn the "race" into three "races"? That way those with injuries can participate. Kind of like gymnastics. You have the overall winners and the individual winners. Just a thought. I haven't converted my run to minutes yet. I'll get on it tomorrow. |
