Really nice! Who refined the photoshopping? If we can blow that up to 20" x 20" or do it in illustrator then almost no artist work is required.

That was just me with my fine Word drawing skills!  Hopefully Josh can re-stick it on our jersey mock up.

Harry, what are the exact file specifications the place is looking for if we were to send it in? Making this in a super high resolution wouldn't be a problem.

All places ask for an Illustrator file, but if you must provide a raster image it needs to be at least 300 dpi or 20"x20" @ 200dpi to prevent pixelation.

What I did is not meant to be the final logo!!!  It's just to show THEIR artist what we want. Then he can recreated it in Illustrator, and make it look BETTER!!!

For a price... That 1 hour free is probably meant to just do the layout of jersey pattern to logo and coloring. Actual reproduction work can run up a mighty bill. I'm just saying that if we're happy with it and can make it look good at a sufficient resolution, then why not save the money?

But I am not really happy with it.  It's just a bunch of Word drawing lightening bolts slapped together.  It needs to be tighter.  I have estimated the set up, S&H etc..and 1 hour extra of artwork at around $200.  If we can get some sponsor money to cover that, we will be good.  (Still need to ask my boss and Focus).  But I will see if I can email the co today and get an estimate on how long it would take the artist to redo it.

Sorta off topic, but anyone who can't afford photoshop or are just intimidated by it check out Paint.Net http://www.getpaint.net/

It still isn't a vector system, but there's a pluthora of plugins to do many of the effects in photoshop with a nice little FREE ui.

Correct me if I am wrong Josh, but the main point is that we do not have illustrator, nor can we provide the image to Pactimo in the correct format.

Do you have it on a lap top?

I just emailed Pactimo to ask if they can look at the logo and see what it would take. Will help us decide. Hopefully they will email back soon.

Here are the Pactimo Art guidelines: http://www.pactimo.com/downloads/art_guidelines.pdf

If we want to use a non vector raster image, then "images need to be 250 dpi at actual size (roughly 7000 pixels wide on the chest) in CMYK mode."

Also, the logo should be a psd file with a transparent background so we don't have a box around it, and the colors in the logo and for the gradient should come from their color swatches. (not found on the website)

For best results the logo should be layed out on the template:
http://www.pactimo.com/downloads/tri_template.pdf
Blow up the template to 1500% to test raster image sizing.

Last post in good ole 'merican English:

hjmiii - 2007-08-14 12:18 PM

If we want to use a non vector raster image, then "images need to be 250 dpi at actual size (roughly 7000 pixels wide on the chest) in CMYK mode."

That's how big the logo needs to be if we are not using illustrator.

Also, the logo should be a psd file with a transparent background so we don't have a box around it, and the colors in the logo and for the gradient should come from their color swatches. (not found on the website)

If we send a jpg file it will have a white box around it. They say to use photoshop to put a transparent background behind the logo to prevent the white box.

Our color gradient (the orange to red background) and the colors we use for the logo should come from their list otherwise they have to convert them and we may not get the exact color we're looking for. I couldn't find the list anywhere on the website. Also we need to send them any font files we're using so they can work with them.

and the For best results the logo should be layed out on the template:
http://www.pactimo.com/downloads/tri_template.pdf
Blow up the template to 1500% to test raster image sizing.

If you take the template and blow it up to 1500% it will be the size they need to work with. Create and fit your images in there (where the big letters are), and you should be good to go.

Ok...let me first try to tighten up the logo again. Then we can move it to photo shop and give it a transparent background.  Then we'll go from there.

My only real question is whether it needs to be in RGB or CYMK. I'm assuming CYMK since that seems to be the preferred format for print shops [due to screen processes]. Also, regardless of which, do they tell us what color profiles to use?

Okay - maybe I should just read the PDF, but since Harry already read it...

Personally, I don't mind setting up masks/paths with appropriate fills since we won't have any resizing issues [pixelation, etc.].

EASY!! No Illustrator needed at all. This is simply a high resolution Photoshop image with a transparent background. CMYK mode is for the print settings.

Just need to call the place to get their color swatches.

Obviously I didn't read Harry's post carefully enough (didn't note that they require CMYK). It would be nice to know what color profile they're using just to make sure we get the closest match possible...

Yup CYMK is what they want, and no they don't tell us any specifics on color except to use their swatches (which they don't provide).

And if you can set up the paths to convert it to a true vector (instead of just a raster file saved in illustrator), and if you can confirm that the image blown up to the size of 1500% of the template still looks good with no pixelation, then we can send them the eps file and they will be very happy.

Also there's the sponsor placement. Josh, Jen, and I have the eps file for the BT logo. We really don't have a logo for the Bungalow except their name and tag line in Georgia font

Inside The Bungalow
Housing Yoga, Coffee & Events
Mesa, AZ

And Tanya still has to finalize things with Focus and her company. Focus has an easy logo though. It's just a big gear.

I don't have an issue with doing that, but if Chris would prefer to do it in PS, that's fine with me [less work for me!]

Chris:

On a related note, I've got Illustrator 8 for the PC [box, cd, license, books] that I don't need if you want it. It's for 98, NT 4, and Win2k - so don't know how it plays with XP. But you're welcome to it...

The brochure I picked up from the Bungalow has their name in a really cool Art Deco font.  I will try to find it on line.

Also, if I can get my boss to contribute, our logo is on this site. However I can probably get a cleaner one from our advertising firm. www.letitrain.com
