Oh and because you guys are doing so well i have yet another activity for you

WATER

http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm

person who is 245 pounds
and is exercising for 60 minutes ,
is not pregnant,
is not breastfeeding,
does not live at a high altitude,
does not live in a dry climate,
drinks 0 alcoholic drink(s),
when the weather is very hot or very cold,
and is not sick with fever or diarrhea should have:

144.5 ounces of water today, or 4.3 liters.
If you eat a healthy diet, about 20 percent of your water may come from the foods you eat. If you eat a healthy diet you can drink 115.6 ounces of water today, or 3.5 liters.

Remember that water is the best source for your daily fluid needs. Other good beverages include milk, herbal teas, low-sodium broth, 100% fruit and vegetable juices. Soft drinks will also count toward your daily total of fluid, just remember that sugar sweetened soft drinks and fruit juices add extra calories to you daily diet that you don't need.

how about you guys...

PS start logging your water intake(just water) in your logs

PSS I need to start drinking..

Good morning!

Interesting on the water - I normally drink more than my recommended amount (77 ounces even on days exercising 90 mins). I do find it easier to drink while sitting at my desk all day than on the weekends.

I should be taking in 67 oz of water, drinking 53 - which I know I don't do!

Funny, though on the question about how much exercise will you do today, it only goes up to 90 minutes......obviously they did not have us triathletes in mind when they made that drop down as I'll do about 95 minutes of exercise today!

I try and push water all day, but consistently end up short. I have a mug in the office that I fill up throughout the day, but I'm frequently on the road and then it's more soda / coffee. I know I should drink water, but I refuse to buy bottled water.

I usually do pretty good with the water intake, but have been kind of lax the last couple of weeks. I'll have to do my calculation and see how much I should be drinking.

The comments about the aerobars was interesting....I don't ride with them, mostly because I'm a roadie-turned-triathlete, but also I can't lean that far over due to back problems. I tried my friends bike with aero's early last year, I felt really uncomfortable...so that was the end of that idea for me.

I'm tempted by the call of the after work drink by my co-workers. I really would like to go to they gym, it's always much emptier on Fridays, but drinks and bad food sounds almost too good. But, I suppose if these are the most difficult decisions that I have to make, then life is good.

Well, I had fun, but I didn't do crap. Now I just need to gather the energy to get outside and run. It looks warm (for Connecticut in January), so I shouldn't have to bundle up too much.

Best laid plans thwarted by work. Had a 22 mile ride planned for this afternoon, but meetings are getting in the way. I have one from 11-12:30, 2:00 and 3:30-4:30. Will try to make up some time on Tuesday. Sun should be out and I should be able to get outside.

I think a race here in CT would be awesome. I would like to meet the other people in the group (except for the LSU fans) . There are a lot of great events throughout the spring and summer. Perhaps Bajapat could recommend one, I think he's been here in Connecticut a lot longer than me.

Hi everyone, I'm back....  no worse for the wear and have a big smile on my face from the great skiing vacay!

I just did the water calculation and I need to take in between 110 and 130 oz of water, depending on my level of exercise and amount of booze I drink.  Wow, I drank ~50 oz yesterday.  Time to get on that!!

As far as pickng out a race....  we should probably schedule around people's race schedules.  I have my 'goal' race on 6/22.  Anytime after that is good with me.  what do you guys think?

Welcome back! Was the skiing AMAZING??? My "A" races are 6/7 and 7/20, anytime after Jen's race is good for me for a sprint.

I too am not doing that great with the water -- but am getting better about it -- or at least thinking about it more.

My A race is June 29, but I would like to do at least one sprint before that. The Ridgefield Tri would have been nice, but that sold out in 11 days or something. By the time I had money to enter the event they had sold out. Even if some of us just get together to train, or a 5/10k, that would be cool.

I'll just be cheering you guys on for your race. Maybe I'll run a "pretend" race at my place here by the lake in Mich. But...FYI...my "A" race isn't until Aug.

Welcome back Jen...sounds like you had fun? Isn't skiing more fun when you're in shape?? That's one thing I did notice this first time I went skiing after I started training. Never got tired...

I'll add my voice to the cheering, only from OR. My A race is June 7.

Mary/Lisa - yes, the skiing was unbelieveable - best of my life!!  I am now a publicist for skiing in Salt Lake City.  Plus, the people there were really nice.  And the snow.... oh, the snow.  I wanderd into a 'free ski' area for the first time ever and found out how fun it is to wipe out in 10' of powder.  Once I caught my breath from struggling to get my skis back on....  I realized how cool it was to be stuck in so much snow!

I felt great, even on the fourth day.  I probably could have been convinced to do the fifth (half-day) day of skiing before we flew home but decided to just sleep in.  But YES - TOTALLY, it is so much better to ski when you are in shape.  I definitely noticed a difference when compared to past ski trips.  I felt 'strong like bull!'

I just uploaded my training program for the June race, which starts 2/4.  And I have it hanging right in front of me at my desk at work.  Holy crap.  It's going to be a tough road!! I am glad to have such a cool mentor group to help keep me motivated.
