chartierm22 - 2008-11-18 3:02 PM Can other people register you for a race?  With your permission of course?  I'm thinking this might be a good christmas gift idea.  Or would I just have to ask for moneys to put tward entry fees?

I think as long as someone has all the details they can register for you... they would just need your USAT membership. age. contact details etc...

Oh that brings up another question, what is a USAT membership, do I need one, and where do I get one if I need one?

Oh Phil!!!!

I know how it works in Australia - its like an annual membership you sign up for online and has an insurance component build in...

I assume its the same in the US? Here in Australia you can race without a TA membership but you have to pay extra for the race...

Hey phil or Kristin can you answer this for me?

Is this what you're looking for -
https://www.usatmembership.com/default.aspx

I've never got one since I only have done 3 tri's - 2 1/2 IM and an IM, so I just pay the one day membership for the race during signup.

Thank you phil, you really are a giver

Time for beddage.

Awww, I missed Phil

I have less than 5 minutes. Spill it.

It's not my fault I had to go scour Brooklyn for a new home

Sounds like Taz has a new roommate coming then.

LazyMarathoner - 2008-11-17 11:23 PM So, I went to Brooklyn tonight after work and saw apartments. The good news is that I walked an hour so a point for me (not such good news for my poor feet). The bad news is that the apartments were horrible! One had no sink in the bathroom and even worse, no real kitchen to speak of. For the love of god. I miss Manhattan already

So is that first brownstone lookin better and better?

It is. I called the broker and wanted to see it again. My husband had come out to look at places with me (even though we're not moving together) and I was dying for a second opinion. Unfortunately, they couldn't show me.

I have a chance to get a friend's place, rent stabilized and no brokers fee, but I looked at the building and it's right on the highway and my ears hurt it was so loud. Yuck. I'm hoping I'll find something soon. It blows looking for apartments in NYC.

chartierm22 - 2008-11-18 3:02 PM Can other people register you for a race? With your permission of course? I'm thinking this might be a good christmas gift idea. Or would I just have to ask for moneys to put tward entry fees?

I think as long as someone has all the details they can register for you... they would just need your USAT membership. age. contact details etc...

Oh that brings up another question, what is a USAT membership, do I need one, and where do I get one if I need one?

I think the web site is usatriathlon.com (just google USAT). Go to membership and there are options for 1 year, 2 year and so forth. It's cheap and I think it's worth it if you plan to race more than a couple times a year. If you aren't a member, you have to pay a 10 dollar one day fee at races so why not just join?

Because I'm a member, I got to register for the NYC tri a day before registration opened so I didn't have to stay up until midnight and fight for one of the 3,000 slots that sold out in 22 minutes. There are definite perks!

Yeah, our place is beautiful, but way too expensive for one person. Too much for two really. He's looking at the neighborhood I am, but it's likely too pricey for him so he'll be nearby though.

chartierm22 - 2008-11-18 3:02 PM Can other people register you for a race?

Thank you, phil got me the link too (thank you phil), how much is a one year or two membership?  Do you remember?
