Elite 3144 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulie's: We Are Doing What We Are Loving December Challenge Hey Ghoulies! I got my 10 miler done today!!! My pacing felt really good and I came in almost exactly where I expected (8:30ish per mile). My only complaint on the run itself was that almost every single stoplight was red which added over 6 1/2 minutes to my time (which I subtracted to get a more accurate pace). Too much stopping and starting aside though I'm very happy with the workout. Now if I could just find a rhino to walk on my calves to loosen them up I'd be a happy camper... |

Elite 3144 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulie's: We Are Doing What We Are Loving December Challenge Quick Ghoulie question: How many of you have checked how much water-weight you lose on long runs? I did a before and after weigh in today and after subtracting out my 20oz of water I lost a bit over 4 pounds in just a bit over 10 miles. Is this a lot? Thanks in advance! |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: The Ghoulie's: We Are Doing What We Are Loving December Challenge Tom-I would have to go back to my notes from a nutrition seminar last year, but I think that 4 pounds in under an hour would qualify you as a heavy sweat-er. I have checked mine after a 30 minute treadmill run, and I lose about 1 to 1.5 pounds. |

If I ever get to the point where I can run 10 miles in under an hour I doubt I'll be too worried about my sweating volume, but I'll check to let you know. Today was about an hour and a half. No headache so far so I don't think I dehydrated myself too badly. |

I got the forerunner 405. I had asked for the 305 after hearing some negative reviews of the 405. Any thoughts from the village? Should I keep the 405 or return it and get the 305 (not the 310)? I have a 405 and have never used another GPS device so I have nothing to compare it to. That said, the 405 has been adequate for me. It seems to track time and distance accurately. I haven't used many of the functions on it though. I hit start when I leave and stop when I get back and occasionally check my distance in between so I know when to head home. |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: The Ghoulie's: We Are Doing What We Are Loving December Challenge Good morning Ghoulies!!! It was a busy weekend at our house, starting last Thursday. There was work Thursday morning, followed by a list minute trip to finish up my Christmas shopping. I had to call in help to wrap my presents. Got a 4 mile run in and a 5 second shower before we headed to my parents. Friday morning was open presents at home, then make a big breakfast, and play with the new toys. After that it was off to my husbands parent's house to open gifts and eat lunch. The family stayed there and played while I went home and took a nap (they live 2/10 of a mile away which is convenient). Then when they all got home we went over to my parents again for dinner. Saturday morning I had 2 sick kids at home so I got dr.'s appointments for them. My son has pink eye in both eyes, my daughter has pink eye in both eyes and a sinus infection. We went and grabbed some lunch then picked up prescriptions. When we got home both kids crashed, they weren't feeling well. I worked on cleaning up some of the Christmas mess. Yesterday morning I got a 9 mile run in, it should have been 10 but my knee was bothering me and I was slow so I cut it short. I got home and got a quick shower and headed to church to see my kids in their Christmas program that had been delayed a week due to the snow. When I left church I ran to pick up a few baby things my sister had asked me to look at. I made a few stops I wanted to make and when I was almost home my husband called and reminded me to pickup milk, and asked me to get a dog collar, our dog has now lost 5 of them. When I finally got home I took a nap. Now I'm back at work, with nothing to do all week, waiting for the long weekend to arrive. |

It seems like forever since I've been in the village, but I haven't been good company the last 10 days or so. I think I'm finally on the healing end of the flu. I'm still congested, but nothing that a little pseudophed can't take care of. I'm not even sure how long it's been since I worked out.....haven't even looked at my training log in over a week. So, going to take another day of "rest" and see how I feel tomorrow. On the "upside" there wasn't any holiday weight gain. Hard to pack on pounds eating soup and saltines. |

Still catching up on the reading, but sounds like you had a busy holiday. Way busy. I just got a call from my husband that he is taking our daughter back to the doctors. She woke up this morning crying, she was saying that her ear hurt, sounds like an ear infection. I'm looking on the brightside that the kids are off of school this week, and my husband is home from work, so no one is really missing anything by being sick right now, other than some play time. |

You're not that far off, though (what's another 25 minutes or so? ) I haven't been able to find my notes yet. The only place left to look is the garage...where most of the previous contents of my office and storage room are. I do remeber though that the main point of knowing your weight loss was to know how much you needed to replace. And once you hit the upper ranges that you know you need to watch the electrolytes, too. Sorry about the lack of detail, though. givemashot - 2009-12-27 6:45 PM Tom-I would have to go back to my notes from a nutrition seminar last year, but I think that 4 pounds in under an hour would qualify you as a heavy sweat-er.
