If so, PM me so I can make sure you at least get one free night. I've had a lengthy pen pal discussion with their manager.
How did you find out you were bumped? Did they notify you? I'm going to check my reservation now. |

I am appalled, offended, disgusted, and totally turned-on all at the same time. BTW, I would have preferred to see her in the "Sam McGlone lower back tattoo pose". That would have been less offending. I need to see this. |

If so, PM me so I can make sure you at least get one free night. I've had a lengthy pen pal discussion with their manager. I was! I had two rooms and cancelled one as part of a "deal" to let me TRY to keep one of my rooms! No comp offered, just still to pay at the other hotel farther away! I'm not happy about it, but having a disabled person traveling with me, I need the Love Inn location for proximity to the race She should have given me my second room free at the other hotel. Or something. |

I am. As I said before stop with the gloom and doom predictions and enjoy the area and the race when you're in town.Heh. Real junior high of you, dude. When your home team is questioned, resort to name-calling. Hilarious.
With you John. I hope those little punks don't cause any trouble. Poor planning, Edited by Doughboy 2011-03-15 8:14 PM |

For the record I did not start the name calling. Someone else did. Like I said before: You can either choose to worry about these issues that you have absolutely no control over or you can have faith that the professional race directors involved with putting this on have taken this into account and have a plan. I choose the latter. If you choose the former, which you apparently have, that's your choice. Personally I think you're wasting energy on it. Oh well... Also, I've said before that I'll come back here and eat crow if it turns out I'm wrong and things are really screwed up in this respect. Will you do the same if everything works out smoothly? Finally, I'm not sure where you get the home team idea from. I may live in the area but I have nothing to do with the Marriott or the race organizers (other than having been a past customer). |

Apparently, I was the fourth one that has called tonight. The girl at the front desk seemed surprised by this. Really?!?! You cancel reservations at this point and you don't expect other people to verify that you're not screwing them over, too? At times like this, it makes me wonder how they decide which reservations they're going to honor and which ones they're not. |

I'm hungry...let's talk about food again Thank God I wasn't carrying money with me on my long run Sunday - went by a farmers market and salivated all over the Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies being sold on the street corner. I can put a whole sleeve of those down without blinking. Did someone say 9 weeks!??!?!? Oh boy. |

My boss is pretty cool with requests like that so should not be a problem. It is supposed to be in the upper 80's Friday afternoon so it should be a better race simulation than riding in the 50's. Just hope the wind is kind out on the Trinity Trail! |

Master 1318 Houston | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas There is definitely more downhill on the way back in but like you said the wind has been brutal. Save your energy for 2562 and 1486, they seem to have been the worst wind for me the past couple trips. Of course we could get lucky and have a calm day for race day but where's the fun in that! dodgersmom - 2011-03-15 8:49 PM Been riding the course on the Computrainer. Tonight I did miles 67-87. Veteran 290 D/FW, TX | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas bearpauly At times like this, it makes me wonder how they decide which reservations they're going to honor and which ones they're not. I had a block of 4 rooms and I booked before the IM went on sale and they had a chance to raise their prices. They're sending me to a hotel that is a lower class (industry practice called "Walking Down") that has now jacked up their prices due to demand. I'm assuming it was easier to "move" 1 guest with multiple rooms than it was to deal with 4 guests with single rooms - although I was told that my reservation was made "after" they were already full. I'll believe that when they show me the reservation log. My reservations were guaranteed with a credit card - therefore the overbooking would qualify as a breach of contract and that the process of walking my reservations to a hotel of a lower class will stand with most authorities as a constitution of fraud and misrepresentation and is protected legally in Texas under the Deceptive Trade Practices and in article 17.46(9) advertising goods or services with intent not to sell them as advertised. Sent an e-mail to Marriott's Senior VP of PR and got a call back from them in less than 20 minutes. It was at the end of the day, so he's going to contact that GM and get back to me today. I'll stay positive on Marriott's behalf - for now. |

Makes sense and explains why Comet was one of the other unfortunate victims here, since she had 2 rooms booked. |

Member 20 | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas ~1-2sec/100meters i have read estimated. So if you actually swim straight and course distance on, then maybe 38 sec over IM. Not much. That being said i have an Amphibian coming. I used the Torpedo in a few races, in pool it was 3sec faster. Torpedo not WTC compliant. |

Veteran 147 TEXAS | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas I have a reservation at the Woodlands Marriott and just double checked it. I am still good. I noticed it is $11 a day to park. Also wondering if they will let you bring a bike to the room. If you have not been to the Marriott believe it is 8 stories thereabouts, so horsing a bike on the elevator may be problematic. Carrying one up several flights of stairs may be an issue as well. |
