LazyMarathoner - 2008-11-17 11:23 PM So, I went to Brooklyn tonight after work and saw apartments. The good news is that I walked an hour so a point for me (not such good news for my poor feet). The bad news is that the apartments were horrible! One had no sink in the bathroom and even worse, no real kitchen to speak of. For the love of god. I miss Manhattan already

So is that first brownstone lookin better and better?

It is. I called the broker and wanted to see it again. My husband had come out to look at places with me (even though we're not moving together) and I was dying for a second opinion. Unfortunately, they couldn't show me.

I have a chance to get a friend's place, rent stabilized and no brokers fee, but I looked at the building and it's right on the highway and my ears hurt it was so loud. Yuck. I'm hoping I'll find something soon. It blows looking for apartments in NYC.

That's pretty cool that hubby did that, unless he was trying on purpose to lure you to a pit.

I bribed him by buying dinner Nah, we're great friends. We're trying to make this move easy for both of us. I need an objective opinion so whenever I can get him to go, I'll take it.

Is he moving too? I know not with you but out of where you are now?

Yeah, our place is beautiful, but way too expensive for one person. Too much for two really. He's looking at the neighborhood I am, but it's likely too pricey for him so he'll be nearby though.

Better to move than or could you find a roommate?

I would only save a few hundred a month with a roommate and I'm just too old for that. I really need my own space, especially in an IM year with so much life change. I can only handle so much. I think it will work out. I'm just sad about the conditions and I'm still spending a ton. That's NYC for ya.

Hang in there - bathrooms and kitchens are always the worst part of renting... At least thats my experience... finding one that has a decent bathroom OR kitchen can be hard...

Im amazed what some people will obviously put up with!

You know, I was pretty darn lazy too. I convinced him to just eat and drink with me instead. It's more my speed these days!

Realizing that you did a Mary, but, gurlfriend, core work starts now for IM. I won't let you get off that easy, ya know.

OOOH Phil is getting out the whips, GO PHIL!!!!

Dang straight! IM is nothing to poo-poo about. The training has to start now - ESPECIALLY for the first one!!

Jeez, I've only slacked for two weeks. I just ran a sub-4 mary, I think I'll get back to it just fine

You are allowed a a short down time between training for races you know!

Good morning all What's on tap for today? Never made it to spinning last night-didn't get out of lab until 5:30 which is what time spinning starts, so I didn't make it home until 6:15ish. Going to do some strength training with the kettlebell today and maybe a short run (we'll see how my ankles feel after work). Other than that not much else going on besides homework and working on my senior project. Hubby's out of town so I think I'm going to have scallops for dinner tonight-yum
