I did a before and after weigh in today and after subtracting out my 20oz of water I lost a bit over 4 pounds in just a bit over 10 miles. Is this a lot? Thanks in advance! That's probably pretty close to what I would lose on a similar distance run. I make it a rule of thumb to take water with me or plan my route so I have at least one water stop once distance gets up to 10 miles. Thanks Neal! I got myself a waterbottle with a hand strap and a pouch to put in a couple gels for my longer runs. It was a bit annoying at first but I'm getting used to it now. I only got 9 in yesterday Tom. I have a fuel belt, but it can only carry 1 bottle of water. I have a 21oz bottle that I take. I can also carry a couple of gu's and/or sports beans in it. There is a pouch I can stick my phone, too. 21oz is fine for now, but when the weather gets warmer I will need to find something else. Good day to you Ann! Hey, nine is better than none so be proud! Is your race on the 24th too? My hand bottle is also about 20 oz which is good enough for now. Good call about the warmer weather though. I'm still not sure if I'll bring it to the race since there will be water every mile, but we'll see. Maybe I could start with just a little water in there and refill as I go. If I don't bring it I think I'll be investing in a SPI belt to bring a few gels with me. |

I don't always carry all 4, just what I think I'll need for that run. What's nice about multiple bottles is you can mix up sports drink in some and carry just water in others. In the summer, I start out with a couple of them partially frozen, so they're still cold when I get to them. It also has a pouch for $$$/phone/gels. I'd rather have something around my waist than in my hand, but I guess it's whatever you get used to. I recently started carrying mace when I run and it clips onto the belt quite nicely. Plus, do you every feel that much more like a *jock* when you're running with it???? |

Phoenix is a different kind of pretty, but it works. The mountains surrounding the city make for some good views and if you're into desert scenery they've got that in spades. Plus it's not too far of a drive up to Flagstaff which is quite gorgeous and I hear there are some cool spots along the Colorado River as well. |

He'll be swimming with his friends in the one pool, while I'll be swimming laps in the other. Have a good evening Ghoulies!!! |

Ann, I didn't realize you were doing RnR Phoenix. Phoenix is terrific!!! I lived in Scottsdale for 2 years before I moved to Jersey (dumb, dumb, me). The desert scenery is spectacular. If you're going to stay a few days after the race and have any legs left at all, I highly recommend climbing Camelback Mountain. Locals can tell you where to find the trail head. Go early in the morning so you can see the sunrise. One of my absolute favorite things to do there. Other options, drive an hour or so north to Sedona and see the Red Rock country. Serously, if you are going to have any free time and want some ideas let me know. |

We are getting there Friday night. We have to go get our race packets on Saturday, but we'll have some free time. Sunday is the race, not planning a whole lot for that day. We have all day Monday to do whatever we want. Tuesday morning head home early. My friend that is going along has been there before, so she's going to take me to see some cool places. I'll have to mention these to her. |

No running for me today though. I'm taking my son to a pool party. I may swim with them some, our Y has 2 pools. The kids are swimming from 4-5, then having pizza and cupcakes from 5-6. I'm thinking I could swim with the kids for a bit, then when they go to eat I could swim some laps. Have a great day in the village!!! Well I would probably swim with the kids and then eat pizza and cupcakes, but your plan works too |

I hear you there. My eating was absolutely awful over Christmas. Then my mom sent a bunch of goodies home with me too. Maybe next week I'll get back on track with eating healthy. |
