In for another second and right back out. Funny how much time it takes to catch up just being gone an hour or two.

With that said i still haven't run. I'm going now, I'll say good night later. Yup I've been a running slacker, time to go.

You are right it did feel GREAT! (that's right Dee, she who loves to swimmy, swimmy swim just said it felt great to run)

It was really the strangest feeling - I swam first and I kept finding this thought about running popping into my head - I was thinking - I'm really looking forward to it, anyway, I digress

The recovery has been a long journey - in retrospect, I think I probably started having symptoms in May, but in June after the HyVee Tri, it really flared up

So I wore the cutest little splint to bed every night (actually put it on in the evening while I was watching tv to keep my foot stretched)

Stretching - lots and lots of stretching

Ice baths - really cold, really painful, really effective ice baths - every night (or pretty close to it)

and, last but not least - resting the foot

Taping the foot, stretching lots (should do it more) but no ice yet... owie!

since I havent been able to run because of my knee since the beginning of October the rest it has been taking care of

Oh yeah, I forgot about the taping I did in the beginning.

Honestly, I think the  icing was key!

The knees - well, I really do feel your pain - I was officially diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees just over 2 years ago -

I also have that thing where your knee cap doesn't line up right - if I remember correctly, it is similiar to what you are experiencing - had it scoped and a lateral release done 8 years ago - and, well, don't even get me started on all of the PT

at any rate, I credit swimming, biking, and weights with strengthening the muscles around my knees and allowing me to run

hang in there!

Yeah the lining up thing is my issue... something about being a female and having wide hips and then apparently my running form is CRAP basically bad biomechanics all around... still conecentrating on strength work and stretching...

When I have enough cash I will go and pick up the orthotics... which should help with both issues I hope!

Might start icing as well... physio mentioned it but thought as its a new issue it might not come to that but it made a HUGE difference with my knee... and its not like its going ot make it worse right?

The weirdest part is the PF issue is a new one thats only developed in the time Ive been off running... they think it might be something to do with my cycling and clipless pedals... not sure... Im tempted to blame the elliptical

I plan to wrap myself around Hector's legs and not let go. I'm sorry, but he will just have to do the rest of his running miles dragging me along.

I saw a pair of heels in a K street mall store that would be PERFECT for those legs...

(spokes notes he is working late).

Oh, BTW, I'm glad your foot doesn't hurt today. See the Magic of Scout? The man is awesome.

he is awesome - he does a great job of motivating

btw - so, does that mean you're going to take me shoe shopping?

interesting - you may be on to something there

to be honest, my foot did bother me when I was doing the eliptical during the Oct challenge - I really had to  monitor the settings so that it didn't put too much pressure on it

cycling never bothered me - but, everyone is different

not that I'm an expert, but, I would say ice - it did wonders for me

like you said - it's not going to hurt
