esc - 2008-06-18 1:58 PM How's everyone doing today?  I managed to get in a nice bike ride.  Took a new route so I got to see some new scenery.  And I got heckled for the first time in awhile - always a joy.

way to go on the ride...always nice to switch your routes up and not get bored with your scenery....what do you mean you got heckled? and by who?

Just some silly boy in the passenger seat of a truck.  Here's the full detail, copied and pasted from my log (and edited for content):

On my way back into town I got to have this fun "conversation" with some idiot in a truck.  He was stopped behind me at the light at 9th and Greenbush waiting for the left arrow.  We got the green light and I crank up to get started and start hauling up the hill.  Greenbush is narrow at the bottom of the hill so dude in the truck had to wait behind me for a few seconds until the road opened up again.  The passenger of the truck (not the driver - the stinking passenger) shouts out the window, "Get on the sidewalk."  So I politely shout back, "F--- off."  Followed by an incredulous, "There is no sidewalk, jacka--!"  upon realizing that this particular section of Greenbush is indeed sidewalkless.  Thanks for the advice on how to ride my bike, dude.  He's lucky there was a car between him and me at the next stoplight.  I would have continued educating him if I could have.  They really shouldn't mess with me when I haven't had enough sleep.  I get cranky.

Got any pics?????....would be nice to see where everybody trains.

I thought about stopping and getting a few pics of the river, the cornfields, the big red barns...but I had such a nice groove going I didn't want to stop!  I'm guessing trying to take pics with the phone while still pedaling is beyond my skill set.   I think I'll be taking the same route on Friday - I'll stop and gets some pics then.

Cool....can't wait to see em....maybe I will try and get some pics of the mountains one day this week on my way to work....if the sun is up by then!

what time to do you leave for work?

Tomorrow I will be leaving for work between 4:30-5:00am because my company has just hired a personal trainer for the gym at work and he is in from 6-8am and since I start work at 6:50, I am meeting him tomorrow at 6am to get advice on a good core workout......so to get my 1hr+ ride in tomorrow morn I need to leave pretty darn early....YAWN.....I am feeling sleepy just thinking about it

that is really early! I am very impressed!! these are my shoes trying to get me up before....lets say....7am:

as for pictures of where I ride...here are just a few:

15 minutes from my driveway and we are here...on our way up to Huddart Park in the hills that you see in the distance.

this is one of my favorite places to visit...the Pulgas Water Temple on Canada Road. this is me and my dh.

and this is me going shopping...with all the gas prices...I ride my bike and then I can get more goodies with my savings in gas money! BRILLIANT, EH?

 LOL!

=========================================================

and finally this is where I swim....yes, I swim outdoors year round...even on those cold blustery and windy winter days!!

Went for a short slow run this morning and then took the kids to mini-golf for a quick 18 holes.

My afternoon was spent shovelling gravel into a wheelbarrow and taking up my driveway round to the back of the house to fill in the dog run. My neighbor bought loads of gravel for their yard and had a huge amount left over. They said I could have it, if I got it moved today........so since beggar's can't be choosers, I spent 2 hours in 97degF heat shovelling.....Man I am tired.

Me and dw are gonna take the kids for a swim this evening once she gets done with work, but I don't think any laps are on the cards for me today.....just too wiped out from the yard work.......think I will just goof around with the kids and practice my scary shark moves.........................how does it go again........something like this........

...Daaa...dun......

......daaaa.....dun....

Dun,dun......dun,dun....dun,dun.......dun,dun

...DA....DA.....DA

LOL!

Today is June 19th, and the month is now 64% finished. Are YOU achieving your goals???? Well, here's a little EXTRA INCENTIVE FOR YOU.....

You may now achieve 110% of your individual goals!

For example:
Your swim goal may now reach 110%
Your run goal may now reach 110%
Your bike goal may now reach 110%
Your "other" goal may now reach 110%

What does this mean?
- If you want to give yourself an extra push and challenge yourself this month --> GO FOR IT!
- If you have a teammate who is lagging --> Here's your chance to HELP YOUR TEAM!

Each individual goal will be capped at 110%. (In other words, you can't do 125% of a goal.) This means that you could, conceivably, reach a "super achiever" 110% total.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and do some training!

- Dee

i did actually go out and do my regular 3 miles last night after dinner (yay for almost being the longest day of the year!) and it DID make me feel better. (usually does) the pool was closed because it's a high school pool, and there was a sign on the door saying that they were going to be closed from the 18th to the 22nd for cleaning, and then they were going to be on summer schedule (which SUX for me, but whatever) SO i ran. i'm better. i'll run tonight when dh gets back (all he told me yesterday was that he'd been called in-this MORNING he told me it was only for a hearing thing, and he'd be back in like 3 hours, so it's FINE, but geez! he KNEW i had gone to the dark place, he COULD have been more specific!! LOL)
SO i'm back from the dark place, i'll still get my run, (and possibly a ride too) in this afternoon. the swim-well, with 110% on the table, i MIGHT just have to suck it up and get in the lake. (ooh boy) OR find another place to swim-anyone out there super wealthy? we really need an aquatic center in my town!! LOL--oooh, i forgot to log my run last night. better get on it now!!

Hmmm...let's see here...

110% of my goal means this:

Bike: 220 miles - I can do that
Run - can't do it...I'll barely be making my 100%
Swim - 13552 yrds - I can do that, too!

Good thing I'm already over my 75% for Bike (almost) & Swim.

Dee - does it have to be all three sports or just individually?

i had SUCH a great run just now. i JUST walked in the door, i'm all disgusting and sweaty, but i'm probably the happiest i've been in a month!! i had some stuff weighing me down, and i kind of worked through it, and i pushed harder than i usually do, so on TOP of feeling lighter from dumping some emotional baggage, i'm feeling a little bit proud of myself for running like a freaking rockstar!! LOL
going to my log. oh yeah. had a great run!!
