kaqphin - 2009-12-01 7:27 PM Sometimes i think its impossible to loose weight in my office when you are a person with NO self control...

Its 11:30am and so far we have had:
- 1 baby shower
- 2 birthday cakes

And I have a lunch meeting thing at which pizza will be provided!

Ok... its not like this everyday but... free food isnt as uncommon as I would expect it to be
Simple solution. Just tell everyone to stop having birthdays and babies. LOL

Well that would eliminate cakes!

What about the pizza?

No. Pizza is not allowed to be eliminated. :P

D001 - 2009-11-30 10:33 PM I have a 5K planned for this weekend. But the temp is going to be 27F (-2C)! And I don't do cold well. (It makes my asthma flare up.) Bleh bleh bleh! Not sure what to do about this. (Other than move south! LOL)

Bah, once you get moving, you won't even notice the frost bite!  :P

If it's a health issue, then it has to be your call.  If it's a wimping out issue because it might be hard then don't be like me and not do it.  You can do the distance, you can survice and you will do well.  As an added bonus, you can head home afterwards and totally justify lots of warm sugary treats!  Even if they're storebought, you can nuke them a bit and say that you need their warmth, along with some hot chocolate, gingerbread coffee or other beverage of your choice.

Hrm - maybe that attitude is why I can't lose any weight...
It was 28F this morning. I went outside and started wheezing. And I wasn't even running. So I will probably skip it, unless the weather warms up some. (I'm still hoping it'll do that.) But there's a PANCAKE BREAKFAST after the event. Pancakes, bagels, muffins, etc. I don't know how warm they'll be, but it'll definitely be a carb loading session. LOL Eh, we'll see what happens. Maybe it'll warm up enough that I can do it....

If they're good pancakes, I'd crawl the whole way but I'm a sucker for pancakes like that.

Wait, I thought you lived in one of the Carolinas...just how far elevated are you?  It's not even that cold in New York!

I pretty much want both kinds all the time, which is not a good thing since there is usually a decent pizza place on every other block around here.  I need to move back to the sticks where the only good pizza was a 15 minute drive away.

lol - I love the suggestion to tell them to stop having birthdays and babies!  Since my job has gone to an "open office" design, we've been having much fewer of these celebrations.  Usually, if something special is actually remembered, it's an "oh crud - he's leaving tomorrow and we should do something.  I'll grab some cupcakes that we can cut in half while I'm out at lunch."  I have to admit that it has made life for this weak-willed-eater much easier.

I suppose i should be thankful that i havent found a decent pizza place near home.... yet! Then again because I currently am without a fridge my eating habits have been pretty horrific....

Hopefully after this weekend i will have a fridge and can do a proper grocery shop and get organised again...

That wont do anything about when work has free food though

I love pancakes. Actually, I love anything with carbs, sugar or chocolate in it. LOL

But I'm on a gluten-free diet right now, which means I shouldn't eat pancakes. (I was going to have 'em though! LOL)

And there's NO elevation here. It's just a bizarre cold front coming through. Now they're predicting SNOW too.

Snow..... Bleh. I am so not a fan of cold weather....

It all depends on where you live.  I like a little snow in the city but hate big storms because there is no place for it all to go.  In areas where they don't get snow often, it isn't much fun because most people don't know how to handle it and, after their initial amusement by it, all heck breaks loose on the roads and the grocery stores look like armageddon is coming instead of some frozen water.  The best, for me at least, are places where they are used to snow because they can handle it, it looks pretty in nature and most of the residents consider it "just another storm."  Upstate New York and New England are like this and it makes snow a much more enjoyable experience.

Sure enough - my wife is having knee surgery today (right now, actually) and we went to have pizza for her last meal.  The only thing that really saves me, and why I can never move to Chicago, is that I LOVE deep dish pizza much more than the New York style thin crust.  Combine this with the 36 cupcakes, 12 from 3 different places, that one of our vendors sent over yesterday and you can say my caloric intake was a little high.

Hrm - I have a fridge.  It holds the leftovers from my meals really well.  :P

Sulcus - hope you wifey is doing well!

Pancakes...have you all seen the kind that come in a whip cream looking spray can?  You spray it in the pan and they cook up like you made the batter from scratch!  It's the craziest thing!

Cat - good luck on the fridge!  I can't imagine not having mine...we actually have 2 (one in the garage).  We don't drink our water from the tap, so we have the one in the garage that holds just drinks.

Speaking of weather...it was total crap here yesterday (Arkansas).  It rained about 3 inches and never got over 40 degrees.  I was miserable.  Sunny today though

I sorted out the paperwork last night so they have reassured me there will be a fridge coming *sometime* tomorrow.... so any guesses on how Im spending my Saturday... oh well at least it will be relaxing

If it comes early I really want to check out the local monthly farmers market but cant until I know about the delivery...

After saying that I make a damn fine nurse and that my wife is okay after having the cartilage in her knee fixed, I have lots of questions:

Any fridge sightings yet?

Were any pancakes consumed on Saturday?

How's everyone's training going?

Why can't I get my behind actually moving?  The head is finally in the right place, I just can't seem to get the body moving from a standstill.

Training? Im still desperately unmotivated Im afraid!

But I DO have a fridge and have spent all weekend making sure the ice compartment is FULL! Its the little things... I have left overs to eat my way through from my bro being there....

I hear you on the getting moving... Im still having health issues which makes it a bit of a delicate balancing act but really I use it as an excuse when a nice gentle walk or a swim or a ride would probably be good for me both mentally and physically.

The good news is some time soon I will be getting my old roadie back so hoping that setting that up on the trainer at home will be a bit of added motivation!

Just a thought.... but its now 24 days til New Year (Aus time... appreciate some of you may have an extra day) and I know a lot of people make New Years resolutions...

Maybe its time to start thinking about goals for the next racing season AND the motivation/rewards you need to give yourself to get there....

Good idea!  This is actually what I did last year to get me moving.  I'll have to give it another go and see if it doesn't help.

Sulcus - 2009-12-06 7:13 PM How's everyone's training going?

Why can't I get my behind actually moving?  The head is finally in the right place, I just can't seem to get the body moving from a standstill.

Here. This will get you moving.

Ohhh - a leopard print taser just for me.  I'll keep it's stylish curves and powerful prongs in mind when I don't want to do my ride in the morning!

kaqphin - 2009-12-06 8:38 PM Just a thought.... but its now 24 days til New Year (Aus time... appreciate some of you may have an extra day) and I know a lot of people make New Years resolutions...

Maybe its time to start thinking about goals for the next racing season AND the motivation/rewards you need to give yourself to get there....

Good idea!  This is actually what I did last year to get me moving.  I'll have to give it another go and see if it doesn't help.

Once youve made a decision post it up and we can try and keep you on track!

Hee hee - I was hoping you'd like that.  I think I should write for taser catalogs in my spare time.  Don't you think some of them could use writeups like that?

I will also be sure to write something about your taser motivating me in the challenge forum.
