richmond isn't close to dulles?? maybe i'm thinking of the wrong town. i visited them once, and they really DO live like 10 minutes from dulles. in fact, the planes fly RIGHT over their back yard. they had just bought their house, and they were a little miffed because they hadn't realized they were THAT close to the airport. hmmmm. oh well.

how'd the race go last night kenny?? i jumped on here first thing this morning expecting to see a post of your race stuff, but i see NOTHING. SO? SO? SO? SO? how'd you do? where's your RR? how'd your neighbor do? INFO INFO INFO INFO!!

Towns close to Dulles: Sterling, Herdon, Ashburn, Chantilly, Centreville.

BTW, Richmond has an airport.

Morning All,

Well I done my race last night and I got the new PB I was aiming for. WOOHOO!!!!

It was a fast flat course, but the late evening heat and some humidity with no wind was a bit of a killer. I was sweating like crazy by the end of the first mile. It was about 95degF when the race began at 7:20pm (20 mins late!!!). It cooled off as the race went on. The first mile was really tough though. I think I ate too much at lunchtime and got some stomach cramps but they soon eased once I got into it. After mile 2 I was feeling good and started to push harder. By the time I reached the 5 mile marker the sun had gone behind a cloud and it felt MUCH cooler....and a breeze finally started blowing, so ipushed hard all the way to the end from there.

My next door neighbor (who is an ex pro hockey player who has not played in 5 years or so) decided it would be fun to run this race too and entered the 5k, even though he has not ran more than a few yards lately and did not train at all. When I crossed the finish line I met him and I found out he finished the 5k in 24 mins!!!....with no training or prep whatsoever.......GRRR....sometimes that makes me sick when people can do that while some of us have to work so hard to get within 5 mins of this time! Oh well, good for him I suppose. I could still take him in the pool any day of the week.....LOL!!!

After the race there was pizza and Ben and Jerry's ice cream for refreshments. I ate 2 bites of pizza and felt sick so I did not even bother joining the line of 100 people waiting for ice cream and gave my ticket to a young kid who was in line and told him to get himself and extra scoop or two!

All in all not a bad race, but I definitely prefer racing in the morning instead of the evening. There is another race on the same course (which I liked) at the end of July (called the "Chunky Monkey" run) and it is in the evening too (which I didn't like), so I will have to decide whether I wanna do that race......I will have to have a think about it.

"Chunky Monkey" = another chance at a post-run Ben & Jerrys! I say GO FOR IT!

Great job on the PB!

Nice....I wish I had a pool with an adult swim break!......

.....I'll take the kids to the pool late this afternoon to give my dw peace while she gives her piano lessons......but the best I will get is a 5 min swim break as my 10 year old (cameron) plays with my 2 year old (mackenzie) and trys to stop her running and jumping in the deep end!!

There is a cafe here in Albuquerque that does fantastic ones that are so moist and have chocolate drizzled on top......OMG.....sooooo gooood!

We need to stay off the food subject......I am gonna get tempted. Esp due to the fact that my Mum sent me a "care package" from Scotland which just arrived today and it has stuff I miss from over there, including boxes of Maltesers, Milky bars and Marmite!

Hey - that is my SAME ISSUE!!! My 9 yr old gets to watch my 2 1/2 yr old during the 10 minute adult swim. I am "training" my 9 yr old in the ways to watch the little one. I told him today that if I see them up running around then we would go home after the adult swim but if they sat there for 10 minutes while mommy swam I would allow them to stay longer. They were little angels....today....

Are you going to have a challenge in July??? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the momentum I've gotten with this challenge and I don't want to stop now. I've got some races in the fall that need me to keep pressing forward. Plus, all this additional exercise is helping me work off some pounds!
