I got into baseball by collecting baseball cards to be honest. My first game was a Dodgers vs Braves game when I was in the second grade. I started following the phillies in 98 when I lived in Maryland, though I was an Oreols fan at the time. Really started following it when Laura and I started dated. Morning TOPPAGE!!!! Morning TOPPAGE!!!! that's interesting, I think a lot of what you get interested in has to do with what you are exposed to at a young age growing up in the midwest, and moving a LOT, I just never had much exposure to sports teams other than college football |

It turns out that we experience the four classic senses - sweet, sour, salty, bitter - relative to each other. In other words, if the food we eat has 6 molecules of sour for every molecule of sweet, we'll experience the food as six times more sour than sweet. So adding a dash of salt to chocolate actually enhances the sweetness of the chocolate because we experience the sweetness of the chocolate relative to the small amount of saltiness. So, Cat, next time you bake chocolate chip cookies, add a dash of salt into the dough. It should enhance the sweetness of the cookie. that's really interesting - the funny thing is, I'm really not much for sweets I really like salt - but if I'm going to have something sweet, I like it if it has a salty flavor mixed in

Not too bad. Still a little stuffy and my throat is sore but I think I'll survive. I've been drinking hot tea with honey to help with the sore throat so I'm jacked on caffiene. This should help me get through the work night but I may not be able to sleep until next Friday. mmmmmmmm. Tea w/honey! |

Kristin! Beth! how're you doing tonight? I'm chilln' having a vodka tonic and watching House I had drinks and then dinner with my friend Sonia who I sadly haven't seen since my birthday in June! That's just ridiculous. It was wonderful to spend the evening with her and I learned so much more about her that makes me respect and appreciate her even more as a friend. Did I mention there were two bottles of wine involved? And who doesn't love House? That actor, Hugh whatever, is just brilliant. I love that show. I like your style Beth, there is always a nice cocktail involved with your activities
TOPPAGE!!! Being British, he does a great job of hiding the accent. Check out 101 Dalmations and you'll see. |

(and accurate - we've all been there) It always seems to be the folks a few steps higher up the ladder that tend to manage this way. They'll get all stressed out about something and then it just rolls downhill. I'm near the bottom rung so I've experienced more than a few fallouts from frenzied management. there always seems to be 'that person' in upper management - all I know, is that I try really hard not to fall into that trap I think a big part of it from someone a bit further down the chain... is 1) Knowing what your boss has on so that you are aware of any ongoing issues/politics etc that may be affecting them 2) Judging your questions and stuff based on that. If it is a BIG day in the office, say the launch of a major project, dont bother your boss with something trivial and non urget I think the people you are managing have a role in the whole thing too... common sense and judging what has to be addressed NOW and what can wait until a regular catch up is SO important! I'm not allowed to make decisions even if I do have the answer. I'm a minion. |

I've been in NYC for 10.5 years and I'm still finding my way! It's amazing how difficult change can be. And after being with someone for 11 years I'm single for the first time so in many ways, I feel like I'm starting all over again. So I could use any and all advice any of you can share. I'm just glad I'm old enough and have figured out (somewhat) who I am by now. That might make it a little easier. Although I imagine I'll be on here complaining about the slim options in no time It took me a long time to figure out how to "make friends" as an adult. After graduating from college, I found myself still living in Lafayette while all my close friends moved elsewhere. The Dude and I were already living together so I always had a built in buddy to hang out with. And he had friends that were local so we had a pretty fun group to party with. Then he left for Iraq. I realized that I was severely lacking in the near-to-me friends department. It's been a slow climb into new friendships. I had to make the effort to ask folks to dinner, or over to the house for a drink. Five years later, The Dude's preparing for a deployment to Afghanistan. This time when he's gone, I'll actually have someone to call at nine at night when I get a wild hair and want to go get ice cream or a drink or whatever. Or I can just come hang out on BT... Isn't it funny how making friends can be harder than dating? My life with the dude had a lot to do with that. We were together for 11 years, married for 6. I left my family and friends (in Michigan) and moved to NYC with nothing but him. Over the years I forgot who I was and here I am now trying to figure it out. It's been really hard but also really freeing in so many ways. It's amazing how many people I've met here, both virtually and in real life. Triathletes are incredible people so I feel like I couldn't have take up this sport at a better time in my life. I know I'm going to need a tremendous amount of support over the next year. It's all new territory for me. I think Lafayette is not so far from where I grew up. I know I've been there. I fly to South Bend every time I go home! So, you're telling us that you really were the shy, introverted type and blossomed out in the last year? |

I joined the official triathlon group (worthless) and some guy posted a thread one day asking who was also on BT. I checked it out, signed up and found a new home Once I landed in the Challenge Forum for TdF, I haven't been able to get away. I'm addicted to the challenges! I always meet the best people here. Nice! TOPPAGE again! so, see I don't quite get facebbook I have a facebook account - but so do my kids, it makes it weird That would make it weird for sure. I used to be on it a lot, not so much now. But it has allowed me to reconnect with people I never would have so it's good for that I guess. And it led me here. Friend me! *EDITED* is the official Facebook name As being somewhat of a "security" guy in my field, you may want to PM next time that info instead of posting it out to the open. Facebook has too many stalkers, too. Not the best site. Please be careful. Serious. |

I hadn't even thought about it - probably not, I'm sure it's sold out And if it's not the tickets are propably going for something like $750+ Put there really isn't a bad seat in that park. I just can't quite understand how much it costs to go to a game - no matter what the sport heh - who would have thought that the fall I moved to the East Coast, the Phillies would be in the World Series? Well during the normal season you can get tickets for $25 and up depending on where you want to sit. If you like baseball it is well worth the time to go at least once. So when does the season start and finish? (Well finish in October I guess) Baseball officially starts in April. Pre-Season is in the Feb timeframe, but I don't pay any attention to that. Neither do I. Ironman training has already begun. |
