HI EVERYONE!!!! *waves like crazy*

Remember me? I used to hang around here a lot... then I got hit  by a motorcycle... then I got kidnapped by actors... but I'm back now, I swear, and only a little crazier than usual as a result of it all!

This has been the first week of term for me, so UTTER FRIGGIN' CHAOS, folks. I've started training again (after a summer of being kidnapped, when keeping SOME movement going was possible but nothing else was), but due to said chaos it's been less intensive than I'd wanted. So will fill in the data for the week ASAP, then get back to some serious training come Monday-- it's the Chicago Tri this weekend, so I'll be down there cheering some friends on and trying not to feel too sad about not racing (I probably could have managed the sprint, but I suspect I wouldn't have been too happy about it). Right now the focus will be on  building cardio endurance and strength up again slowly and injury-free so that I can join Hilde in kicking a$$ next season!

Hope you're all well, healthy, and safe from the weather's depradations this weekend!

Alex (injury free for the first time since late January!)

Wilson, you fabulous crazy man, you!!

I agree with Hilde and Turtle (hi, ladies!) and everyone else here: let yourself HEAL, man! Speaking as someone who's been battling injuries since January, they are NO fun, and not worth getting completely sidelined over. I'm training for next season now, slowly building up, and will certainly be part of your Fan Club/Cheering Posse should you decide to join me in this! Core work is great, weights work is great, injuries SUCK. LOVE the HIM in 2013 goal-- count me in on that if you wanna put a bunch of crazy folk together to do it: I hear Steelhead up in Michigan is awesome, and I'm pretty sure we can persuade Turtle to join us (cookies? Donuts?Wink)...

Hang in there and rock on, my friend!

Hi, Howdy, Hello, HAI!  Sounds like you've been busy, which is great.  Here's hoping things settle down a little bit and you can get into more of a comfortable routine in the near future.

Wilson – don’t listen to these yellow bellied varmints (thank you, Yosemite Sam)!  I think you should go for it.  So what if you aren’t in great shape, are still hurting from your accident and could badly injure yourself again?  I’m sure your wife would totally understand your complaining and being useless (well, more than usual ) for weeks on end because you just had to do one more race.  I mean, it’s not like she ever gets annoyed with your love of and devotion to the sport, right?  Do what you want, not what logically makes sense.

Then again, your health insurance provider might not be happy with a whole new and exciting round of doctors’ visits but screw them!

Hrm…now that I think about it, I’m hopped up on caffeine, refined sugar, and a large dose of Hurricane Irene so I might not be giving the best advice at the moment.

Wilson - I'm with everybody else - forget it this season and start planning for next!  I thought I'd do an oly in Oct and I'm bailing on that one too.  I am gonna start training for a marathon in Feb beginning the first week in Sept.  Until then I just want to get used to school and this awful diet I'm on (anti-fungal diet).  Maybe by then my arm rash will be gone and I'll be able to eat a few more carbs which, in turn, will give me some energy.  I'm toying with the idea of a HIM next year ... but I had hoped to get two olys in this year ... so I'm not sure about the half next year.  Maybe 2013 like you, Wilson.

Alex - glad to see you back.

People on the east coast, I hope you don't get hit too hard by Irene.   We've had our share here in FL but not the past couple of years.  Hurricanes suck!

First, Hilde - sounds like you're putting your bad fortune in perspective!!!  I hope the fix goes well and you get a cool new feature in the house!!!  That would be a plus.  I assume home owners will cover the BS and you can take advantage of it and upgrade a bit.

Alex - WTF girl!!!!! 'bout time you come back to show us some love....We (I) have felt unloved since you abandon us.....but, I'll forgive you and welcome you back with open arms!!  Hope your Steppenwolf experience was everything you desired!!  But, glad you're back to us!  I'm glad you are injury free and sounds like you have the right plan - ramp up and stay injury free!  I really wanna do the Chicago Tri too...boooo...Next year for sure!!  I have a friend running the event - he normally places in the top 5 of most Sprint Tris around here.  His name is Bruce Pickering - so look out for his name being announced!  Enjoy the spectator cheering - take some pics - I'd like to see the huge swim wave!!  Good thing they aren't swimming in the Atlantic...eeeek....

You east coasters - hunker down - store plenty of gin incase there is a raid on the stores and stay safe dammit!!!

So, I had a good ride today!!  I was hell bent to kill that corner that almost killed me....So 33mph down the hill with a 22mph corner...perfect apexed corner with lots of growling!!!!! ROAR!!!!! WHEW!!  I also learned another lesson on this ride....Those damn sport jelly beans....forget'em!!!  They are impossible to tear the package open and try and get those things out and eat them....the ziploc bag feature is way too small to access the jelly beans....I almost wrecked trying to eat these things while riding...I stopped and finished the bag....I'm gonna stick to bananas, apples, bars and GU....Jelly Beans....yeah right!

After I give the kids a bath - I'd like to comment on all the good advice you guys have given me....so be back in a few.....BATH TIME!!!

Wilson - Take it from an old pro, get healthy and THEN compete.  Not the other way around.  Have a good weekend everyone!

Dang, Wilson-- those videos were hilarious and heartrending by turns! Talk about HTFU... I'll keep that in mind the next time my body starts whining about being tired! (And you know I'd never abandon you for good-- I'm too crazy to stay away!)

Gotta admit I'm jealous of your relatively traffic-free roads in Zionsville, Wilson; it's well-nigh impossible to find uncluttered roads anywhere near where I live, and the weekly ride with the tri club's not happening this weekend due to the Chicago Tri, natch. Sigh. Will try to get out early tomorrow anyway to stretch my legs and get those wheels moving-- rest assured, Hilde, that bike porn is forthcoming, honest!

Hope you're all having excellent and safe weekends!

Yeah Alex, you're right - I have a pretty nice area to ride right outside my front door.  We have some hilly stuff nearby too, so I can pretty much pick my poison...I'd like to plan on the Chicago Tri next year - that would be fun...I've done a lot of sailing in Lake Michigan and miss it...Most of my swimming time was with a beer in hand....if that counts..haha.

So the last bike ride was pretty good but my bike is messed up from the wreck...So after the ride I took it to the bike shop for some repair since I couldn't repair it at home.  I need a new derailleur hanger and derailleur and hopefully didn't bend the frame.  They are supposed to look at the frame when they get it all apart and make sure it's okay....So, we'll see what all that costs.  If the frame is bent then I'll have to buy a new bike...boo hoooo haha.  It's no fun riding at 90rpm then all of sudden going to 105rmp...then down to 80rmp...all on it's own..haha...really breaks the concentration - and sounds horrible...I had to turn up the iPod....

So, my legs are still giving me fits.  I think the ITB is getting better but the right outside part of my shin near my ankle will not get better...It hurts almost all the time and I can't seem to stretch it, ice it or hot tub to make if feel better.  It aches most the time - like now.  That is one reason I've been laying off jumping back into running...I was hoping it would be better by now.....Not sure what it is..anyone have any ideas????  Could it be a stress fracture????  I really don't want to goto the doctors AGAIN...I'm so FU$#@%$@#ING tired of the doctors!!!  So that leads me to this:::::::

Thanks all of you that commented on what I should do with the rest of the season/year.  I have decided that you all are right...I need to not do another race while being undertrained cuz I'm probably only going to do more harm than good even if mentally it would feel good.  I know that if I do it I will gut it out through most any reasonable pain and just screw something up...I have a hard time throttling back in those situations.  I think the last Tri where my calves were locking up every step for the first 1/2 mile - I should have stopped and tried to stretch...But I grit my teeth and ran through it - maybe a stupid move.  My lower legs haven't been the same since...what the F##$%CK did I do???? haha....So, I'm just gonna enjoy the end of summer and fall - get some good SBR in and not push too hard.  There is a pool Tri in October and I might do that one if the training goes well and I ease back into it...gain more fitness and get over all my leg issues.  I think in October I'm going to start with my personal trainer and work on strength and core training.  My plan is to do that till that and get one SBR in a week just to keep things moving in those areas too.  Next January I'll start concentrating more on SBR and building a really good base that is targeting an OLY Tri season.  I feel pretty good about this rough plan and decided not to run a 1/2 this fall/winter too....I'm gonna get healthy, slimmer, strong and then build a good base to kick some A$$ in 2012......  I just need to keep reminding myself of this decision and it's a good plan.....The demons in the back of my head still want to push too hard and fast - but I'm gonna kill them.  So today I celebrated this final decision with two ice cream cones..haha....I really appreciate all you guys supporting me and giving me honest feedback!!!!!  Shawn, when I read yours I was getting pumped....like Wilson HTFU and do it!!! then you dropped the bomb and agreed with the girls!!!  Thanks all - this is a great group!!!!!  Watch out 2012....I plan on killing every PR in 2012 - I PROMISE!!!!

Do I REALLY need to point out how bike-friendly donuts are? With the hole in the middle, you just hook 'em over the drops! And, yes, you should see a doc about that shin, since it's not going away. It could be something nasty like a stress fracture :-( And welcome back Alex! Careful on those cluttered streets - watch out for motorcycles!

Whew-- so glad to hear you're OK, Margaret; I've relatives and friends on the East coast and as far as I know they're intact (if without power) too. The photos and film I've seen from the storm are really incredible...

Wilson, I'm utterly BUMMED to hear about the sore shin (I agree with Turtle: hie thee to a medico and at least get a stress fracture ruled out!), but I'm cheering your plan to crush every PR in 2012! Count me in on that goal, too: no injuries, leaner, meaner, and PR-slamming it is! (Anyone else wanna join us?) I have to be in the UK for part of next summer...am idly contemplating doing the London Tri, since I'll probably be there around that time-- gives me an excuse to pack up my bike and take it with me, doesn't it? Smile

Donuts do indeed help make the fueling world go round, Turtle...though I'm also partial to fig newtons, meself...

Allow me to mention again how much I LOVE being back among my crazy-in-the-best-way triathlon tribe, too! MMMers ROCK!!

So, bike shop called today and ordered me a new derailleur and can't get a derailleur hanger so I have to shop some other LBS since the current shop doesn't handle Giant bikes and can't order the parts..huh.  So hopefully I'll find one tomorrow take it to the shop so they can fix my ride!!  The weather is excellent for riding and I'm missing out.

I got home today to a email receipt from iTunes and it included a $99.99 purchase for gold coins for a kids game called Zoo Tap.  After further investigation my son bought some gold chips for the game without knowing what he was doing...I was a smart parent because I had a password to install or buy stuff so this couldn't happen...But the clever kids games developers created this process called In-App purchases which bypasses the "normal" security of a password...so the youngsters can buy stuff and not even know it....I emailed iTunes and asked them to reverse they charge and they agreed to a one time reversal...and they informed me that there is a special restrictions that you have to enable to also password protect in-app purchases....what a crock of $hit!!! So the kids game developer have leveraged this non-default setting to take advantage of the customer.......Needless to say - we will avoid that developer from now on....So if you have an iPhone or iTouch or iPad make sure you go into the settings and restrict in-app purchases or you could be next!

Yowzers! My hubby just sent me a link to a news story about a local woman who's kid charged up $500 on Pet Hotel! My daughter used to be really into those "tap" apps, but lost interest, thankfully. I'll have to go change my settings before she finds something else to get into.

Wow on the iTunes charge!!  Or iF**K charge or whatever...  that's total BS.  Glad you caught it, how many parents just pay the bill and never look at the charges... and $99 for a GAME or some gold coins FOR the game, that's outrageous!!!

We are still living in squalor here... the kitchen is a pile of pots and pans and such in the dining area, the main kitchen is pretty well cleared out.  We are awaiting the check from Homeowners so we can start the repairs.  A/C WAS leaking, it wasn't just the drain spout clogged up, so AHS repaired that.  Ron will do the repairs himself and we are getting a fairly big check, so we are shopping for a new fridge!  And Ron hopes to redesign the kitchen while it's all a mess anyway.  We purchased granite tiles (12x12) a few years ago and they've been stacked in a closet ever since, so we are going to redo the countertops, repaint or re do the cabinet doors, and reconfigure the kitchen also.  We have an extra built in oven which we will install in the old fridge space along with a built in microwave, and move the fridge across the room.  The hole for the fridge is pretty small, so we were REALLY limited to what we could buy when we moved in because of the dimensions.  Now we can buy a behemoth of a fridge!  Everything has dried out, and the bedroom also looks like an episode from "Hoarders", so hopefully we can get everything back in the closet SOON.

On a good note, we have a COLD FRONT coming thru!!!  I can't tell you how excited we all are to be seeing highs of ONLY 95 later in the week!!!  It's felt like these 104s and 105's would NEVER end.  Once we can get down to the lower 90's, I can start training outside after school again... it's just been too darned HOT.

Keep on akeepin' on MMM Peeps!!

Hey MMMers!!!!

So Sorry I've been extra lame and out of touch...I can fully admit that after having half of Temple's largest hospital looking at and probing both my boobs and ovaries along with involved complications, I've been a little emotionally OFF if you will...

BUT, my favorite part about working out is that it really does offer 100% stress relief for me and kind of adjusts my mind frame.  I've been a little side-tracked and been focused on things and scenarios that have proven to not really be where my focus should be, so Kati is back, and ready to get focused and working on KATI!  Sometimes it feels good to be selfish, and I'm thinking that's what I need.  Just sucks that moms back to school and we can't do early morning bike rides together, etc.

I PROMISE to be logging effective Monday, and wanted to thank everyone for the constant inspires and words of encouragement during my rough time.  Tri season '12 will be here before I know it so I need to get my butt in SHAPE!

Hey Gang, thought I should check in with the forum.  I've been quietly doing what I would call mini workouts.  Basically stuff I can get done in 30 minutes or so.  I have a new project at work that has been weighing on my mind and the physical stuff has helped to keep me from stressing out.  Hope everyone has a good long weekend.  I'll be reading logs and sending inspires when I'm off on the weekend!

Be safe, everyone!
