Ok I have to share... so I apologise...

When I set my goal for this challenge I thought there was NO WAY I would come close to hitting it.... now Im 2 runs away from getting to 100%

For me who has had so much trouble running in the past just the fact ive been able to show some consistency is a MASSIVE achievement...

So I wanted to share... hope thats ok!

Yeah!Yeah!Yeah!

Thanks!!! Just waiting til it starts to get easier

But if I can keep it up maybe that would be a good thing... consistency? Im hoping this has set me up for the entire run training thing going forward...

Never would have thought that was possible!

I understand just when I think it is getting easier... I found running really needs consistency; biking and swimming don't for me.

Hey all my lovely team mates.....I am back from my trip to see my dad and hang on the beach in San Diego with my dd. Back home now!

got home late last night....tired today! hoping to go for a swim...but may just recoup from the travel! 8 hours of driving is noooooooooo fun...and even less fun when you have to drive thru LA that is always congested with SLOW traffic!

have not seen how our team is holding up compared to other teams...but hoping we are kicking booty! I only have 30 minutes of training time needed before the end of the month. Does that mean I need to up my hours??? can we? should I????

TopPage 69! must mean that today is going to be a DIVINE day!

Welcome back!  We've missed you.  I'm not sure how we are doing in the challenge, but our post count has been suffering terribly!

well here she comes to save the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will do my part on post padding...I mean chatting with you'ns! we can at least win that!

So glad to have you back!!!!

thanks dear~ good to be back! wish I could snap my fingers and bring my parents closer, though! I know after a few hours I would want to snap them away again! haha I love them but sometimes they can drive you crazy! or am I already CRAZY!?!

OK OK ~ DONT ANSWER THAT!!!! specially you Phil!

my sister is a marathon runner and her running group does the 5:1 ratio run..they run 5 minutes walk 1 minute...run 5 minutes walk 1...she has a beeper that she wears on her hat...we did this when we ran together...i was bumming at first...but I did notice my run times were better then when I only ran...I think you are able to give more to the running time after you rest...plus the end you feel you have more then if you were to all out run. I may try this for my next 10k run. see how I do...anyone else hear of this tactic? she had one of her buddies run in a mountainous area...and really thought she would do awful and instead had her PB time...beating times she ran in the flats!? so this has intriqued me! she said runners dont have to do the 5:1...if you are just starting you may want to do 1:1 or 2:1 and work you way up!

I am trying to stay consistent but it is not that easy when your kids keep getting sick!  Picked up one with the runs today, they other still with a cold, both home tomorrow, I called my hubby to inform him he needs to come home early so Mom can get her training in!  I am so over the sick kid thing..................

Well I got told to run 3 times a week for about half an hour for a month and it should get better...

So that was my goal for this month... not sure about better but at least Im doing it... ust dont seem to be seeing any improvements much yet...

my sister is a marathon runner and her running group does the 5:1 ratio run..they run 5 minutes walk 1 minute...run 5 minutes walk 1...she has a beeper that she wears on her hat...we did this when we ran together...i was bumming at first...but I did notice my run times were better then when I only ran...I think you are able to give more to the running time after you rest...plus the end you feel you have more then if you were to all out run.

I agree, I did my first 8 mile last summer and my friend did it with me and she was a marathoner, she had me walk all the drink stations and I did very well with that, I will be doing the same or even your above method for all my long runs.

I am trying to stay consistent but it is not that easy when your kids keep getting sick!  Picked up one with the runs today, they other still with a cold, both home tomorrow, I called my hubby to inform him he needs to come home early so Mom can get her training in!  I am so over the sick kid thing..................

sounds like you need Aunt Julie to come visit!

Yes! This tactic works really well... at least for me it does!!!

The long term recommneded intevals i was given was 8:2 for halfs nad marathons but to be honest I generally switch to this method after a little bit...

I find also the walking break switches the muscles Im using a bit so it helps my legs last longer,... as my biggest problems are to do with the impace on my joints!

I tend to find when I throw a bit more walking into my sessions I seem to be the same speed as if I reun (well its more a stuble) a bit more...

what is up when you have consistency...but your legs feel like TEN TON WEIGHTS!? even though they are only 8 ton weights??? seriously have never felt so tired while running. I am too tired to move today! can I blame it on jet lag? or do super heroes get jet lag?

Loosing weight does help, I'm on my heavy side now.

Sigh... guess i better get more serious about that then too!

what! I have to lose weight to run!??? I thought that was why I was running!? I do know that this is part of it! I ate more then I have in some time while I was away...and my mom would not take no for an answer when it came to cakes/cookies and deserts! It is hard to say no once...but twice and I am a sucker! haha

I love this concept! even though I know that when you get in the heat of the race...the thought of a competitor passing me during the walk...may not come so easy!

I totally understand that, but it is our own race.  I found in my track workouts with a coach I am good at pacing myself, someothers were not and in the long run I did a little better. You may find that runner toward the end of the race and cruise right by them!
