Sharyn5 - 2011-11-28 9:55 AM LockOut - 2011-11-28 9:51 AM Sharyn5 - 2011-11-28 9:44 AM LockOut - 2011-11-28 9:17 AM Sharyn5 - 2011-11-28 9:13 AM Others having job woes? Me as well. My job was being cut, and that direction changed. I was kept, and my salary was cut. I don't know what it is, but I feel paralyzed over this. Like I take no action to change things. It's not laziness...maybe bona fide fear. But, fear of what, IDK. My sympathies for anyone here struggling @ work. I'm trying not to think about it w/the holidays coming. I'm sorry to hear that, Sharyn. There are a couple of us in here who are not happy, or having problems at work. I completely understand the paralyzed feeling. That is a good way to describe how I feel. I know I HAVE to change something... but I don't know how to do it, so I just sit here unhappy. It sounds like there are a bunch of us who need to take action! It’s definitely something I need to change, and I know how to change it…but, just won’t? ha I mean, if I’m honest…I just won’t do what I need to do to change it. Funny, how we all know what to do w/ preparing for events/races and such…but we don’t take that same action with this. Hmmm. Ok…this is getting too deep for TAN, me thinks. Ha Sorry u are struggling too…hoping things get better for ya. Hey, we can be deep in TAN once in a while :P Nothing wrong with that, if you ask me. It's easier when Cord and Tony aren't around I kinda shot myself in the foot actually, when it comes to making things easy for me. For a long while, I was very unhappy with a lot that was going on in my life, personally, so I was 100% ready for a complete upheaval, new job, new city, new friends, etc. But recently, I've made some changes, and now am insanely happy with my personal life, and don't really want such a huge change at the moment, just the job. So my search area has narrowed down from EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD to Montreal. It's amazing how many fewer jobs there are in one location vs. anywhere :P are there many montreal based companies really? i am in sales/marketing, and canada used to be territory of mine once upon a time. my personal life is decent, i have to say. there was a time when it wasn't. i think that if i had to choose...i'd rather be discontent in my career life, than personal life... but oh. it would be nice if both 'lives' were a 10/10. Not a lot of Montreal based companies... but a lot of companies with Montreal offices. And a LOT of sports companies here, so I'm definitely going to start looking into them. If there is a Canadian office, it'd be Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver. So yea, there are plenty of opportunities, I just need to start exploring them |

I saw a video on YouTube of a guy who is in a "mobile" jazz band in NYC and quit from a hotel/service job. He brought his band in, gave his boss his resignation letter, and they started playing some celebratory brass number as he marched out. I wish I had the balls to do something like that. Haha, if I won a lottery of any sort, I would for sure quit. Not even a huge jackpot. If I were to acquire $20k, I would be out of here and immediately looking for something better. funny u say this. ^^ I feel the same way. so why won't we take action otherwise? I've decided. I'm going to. In fact, I may take a few days of vacation this month to get a jump start on it. I am actually looking at jobs right now. And not in the same industry, where I don't see myself being happy. In what I want to be doing. No time like the present, right? Attaboy. x2 with Elaine re. butt kicking. You're young. It's absolutely worth it to starve for a dream. The worst that happens is you live on someone's couch for a while. Then you realize it's not the end of the world and you're happier trying for something you want than having something you don't. |

I'm an engineer, currently working as a designer with a touch of project management and quality control thrown in there. I do NOT like being a designer (at least in any instance that I have done it in the past...). I would probably be happy to get a full time project management job and stay in the industry. But I doubt it. If I could do anything related to sports... anything... I would be a million times happier. |

At first I felt bad about getting a 10 year old a laptop and an iPhone this year but the iPhone is my old 3 and it only cost me $10 more a month and now I'm able to talk to her every day. The laptop is for her play and school and this way daddy’s computer (with porn) is not in their hands and her comp isn't the best but it will do what she wants. Like how I justify that? |

Good deal for a laptop, sweet little Cordlet. "Big" Xmas gifts do cost several hundred bucks, like a decent bike, it's not like Xmas is every day, those are genuinely useful things. |
