I'm having a horrible week. I couldn't go to the gym because of a meeting that ran longer than it was supposed to. I can't go tonight because I have a chiropractor appointment. I'll get to go tomorrow but that might be it for the rest of the week.

How does everyone deal with life getting in the way of your training?

I'm considering running another marathon on March 2nd. The last one I did was in early November. I have not done a lot of running since. Can I be ready in 6 weeks?

My week went pretty well last week, and this week is starting off pretty tired.. but I think thats just how its probably going to be alot. Just under 6 months left until IM, so time to buckle down and make sure to get enough rest.

Great job everyone else... logs are looking colorful!

How was everyone's week?

I had a fantastic long run and then spent the rest of the week sick.  Chills and chest congestion = lots of time on the couch.  But I'm finally getting over it and I'm going back to real workouts today.

Coach has me doing a good amount of running between now and training camp, but this Saturday I'll be spending 10 hours on a plane so I train for a week on the World Championship course.

That wlil be awsum Aaron.. Id love to hear a little recap of how it went and how you liked it all when you are back!! Im glad your feeling better!

I hear ya.. easiest solution, get up early. Then you dont have to worry about meetings that ran over, chores or surprises taht come up at night, etc. It takes a bit to get used to, but for me, I am tired whether I get up at 5, or whether I get up at 6:30, so I get up at 5 and get a workout in.

I definitely agree - A million things can come up during the evening hours that can prevent you from working out, but nobody can really mess with your mornings!.  It is hard to get up so early but after awhile you sort of get used to it.  And the best part is that you can complete your workout and then feel great for the rest of the day!

I wish I could

But as luck would have it, I'm sick...again. This time it's the flu. I can't actually remember the last time I was this sick. Full on body aches, 102 degree fever, chest congestion, coughing, headache...the works

I am scheduled to race in April but I have no idea what to wear. I know there are tri shorts out there, what would be a good pair to get? Also, after the swim, do you put a t-shirt on? I know you have to put your number on ( I plan to get one of those number belts to wear) do most beginners wear a t-shirt? Im a little chunky around the mid section so I dont know if Im ready for one of those skin tight shirts
Bryan

Hey Bryan...

Yes, defenitely a pair of tri shorts. As for a good pair, unfortunately its all preference and what feels good on you, so if you order online, Id say get a couple different brands and then return what doesnt work. If you have any bike shops nearby, some may stock tri clothing, so that would help out if you could go there and try them on. Then you will just wear those for s/b/r. As for the shirt.... its up to you really, I've seen people wear cotton tshirts, but a tech shirt would probably be more desireable. It will dry out faster since youll be putting it on after the swim, and while it wont be "fitted" it wont be as bulky for the bike/run, or as uncomfy if it is hot out. They have loose fitting tech tees. those you can get at most sporting goods stores now. ANd yup, the number belt works. Anymore questions just ask!

Just want to add a little more I am a little chinky in the mid section as well and I wear a tri top. I actually have the BT tri outfit. Tri top and tri shorts. There are lots of us out there thaty do not have abs of steel that race and still wear the full gear. But as they said above I would make sure I had some moisture wicking shirt. And yep second the race belt they are great. My preferance is to use safety pins instead of those snaps on the belt btw. I would recommend going to the shop here for tri shorts or looking on ebay. I bought lots of desoto tri shorts for sale and they work great!!

I'm not real thrilled that the doctor told me not to run for 6 weeks to allow my meniscus to heal. I'm going to do what I can to speed up the proccess. I bought some glucosamine, collagen, msm, & glutamine.

I have a fitness test scheduled for next Thursday & a running form seminar next weekend. I'll be doing a VO2 max test the following week.

Just got refit on my tri bike and man can I tell the difference. I can actually stay aero and it not take energy to remain there. Had a tri day yesterday went to a big tri expo and got to listen to Michael Lavato speak. Really neat guy!! Then had my bike refit. Hope everyone has a great weekend and a even better week!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, of training and other fun stuff! Aaron is in Kona training this week.. Lucky. Though we may see it hit the 40s here in michigan for a day this week. That would be quite the warm front from the last couple of weeks

Well the end is in sight. Doing your own flooring is a LOT harder than I expected. But I have the old flooring out and most of the new flooring in. Just finishing up on trim and some detail work and then I will be done with what I am doing and back into training. I am going to end up hiring a contracter for redoing the stairs because that just seems to be a little above my pay grade. I am really looking forward to getting back into working out. It has been pretty hard in the fact that I started out did a couple of weeks of training and then I have spent almost every waking moment working on this project.

But watch for this weekend to see training logs back in for me. I will probably put some pics up of all of the hard work I have done as well.
