Amy - how are you going with your new shoes? Have you started the Masters swimming yet? And how is your gym's biggest loser competition going?

Krystyna - how have you gone looking into wind trainers?

And I think I forgot to answer your question about running with a backpack - have you tried it yet? I've never run with anything on my back, the heaviest thing I carry is an iPod!!! I guess my advice would be don't carry anything too heavy! You may need some BodyGlide for chaffing. Maybe visit a running store and see if they recommend any specific backpacks?

I believe in the saying "I can rest when I am dead" Seriously I am only going to do 1 short run today and then take Friday and Saturday as rest days prior to the marathon on Sunday. After that I will be back on my 7 day schedule to lead up to my 50 miler in April.

I've decided not to get a wind trainer and instead use the stationary bikes at school until the roads are rid of ice and snow! And, I did try running with a backpack filled with the stuff I needed for school, but it was near impossible, so I am running AT school and changing there. Much better, with a higher quality workout!

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm experiencing bitter -32C winter days!!

I took your advice and have done some workouts in the am. I can usually fit in a short swim or run. Perhaps a spin class every now and then. I do hate missing a day of training. I try to double up certain workouts but that wipes me out the next day. I may just have to settle with shorter make-up workouts when one is missed. Maybe just do drills.

Just started agility training with the Shih tzu. He is in an intermediate level class. He was a bit shy for the first half of class. Once he feels better about training I'm sure I will get a bit of a workout sprinting with him over the agility course.

Maybe alllow yourself a few rest days AFTER the marathon too ... at least 2! You don't want to get injured

Good luck!!! I am looking fwd to reading the race report

That sounds like a much better plan!

And -32C??? Holy carp. This morning here it was 29C/85F even before the sun came up, and its predicted to hit 40C/105F today.

I think a short work out is better than no work out  I'm not surprised that doubling up wipes you out! I don't think thats recommended. I think just keep working at it and fitting in exercise where and when you can. You'll eventually find a way or make one

Good luck for the shih tzu! That would be so cute seeing one running around the agility course You should post some photos!

Hi guys! Happy Saturday! I just did a really hard 64k/40 mile ride through the hills. I climbed a scary road called Welshpool Rd, it just keeps going up and up for 6k, I've never done it before and it was a bit of a mental barrier. Now its conquered

Me again! I have just gone through and inspired you all. I've also send private messages to five of you who we haven't heard from for a while. I hope you're all getting along OK. Let me know if I can be of any help!

Lets get some chatting going on here. It doesn't have to be exercise or training related, lets get to know eachother!

Well, I'm personally enjoying the winter snow and getting calves of steel running through it for a couple of hours a week!

Masters swimming restarts tonight - and I might be moving up to a speedier lane. Exciting!

I'm really having a tough time finding triathlons in my area. There's always the annual triathlon in Montreal (which is what I went to in September) but that's not nearly enough. Hmf. So many are in the US or west, in B.C.
