Hey team! Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. I had a very busy weekend, so I haven't had time to update much, although there hasn't been much to update with either. I took a few days off due to the knee. With some important races not too far away I didn't want to risk serious injury. I'm about to head out for a long run right now, and plan on doing some strength later today.

gczarski - 2009-08-11 9:31 AM Woke up at 5:45am and ran 5k.  9:25 avg per minute. Just trying to get us to page 8...

Cool    I am heading off for some run miles now( 6:45 am)  before the heat kicks in here

its 60F  now but it will get up to 90-95F by midday .

On to page 8

Back from the run (and post run walk with dogs). I thought from the initial effort that today would be 3 miler  but  as iwarmed up & got going  i headed  over to the XC course and got into a nice groove and finished the workout with

8 miles .    And i ran some of it at race intensity so it was like fartlek session.

On To Page 8

thanks, I think it was the right move too, todays run felt totally fine. I have two races on the last weekend of this month. On sat I'll be defending my first ever AG win so I want to do well there. Then sun is an Olympic at a park not too far from where I live that has an insanely tough bike course. I rode the hill last week for the 2nd time ever and I expect quite a few racers will be forced to walk. Then I hope to be settled into my new place in Colorado in time to race my first ever HIM on Sept 13!

  Busy schedule ,  Enjoy .

I too like "difficult"  bike courses .   The longer and harder the course the better i place ...

Just curious , What grade and elevation change do you think the hill is  ?

According to my Garmin, it gains about 1150 in 1.85 miles, and the grade curve is very wavy, fluctuating between peaks in the teens, even touching 20% in spots, and flattening to 5-8%, so you get momentary breaks but the kicks are really brutal. Should be a fun race! I put a link to the race page below, they have an elevation profile there:

Finished off a busy day with some weights. After I put everything in the spreadsheet my overall goal percentage jumped by 8.4%! Once I get my butt going with the swimming I'll be right on track to completing my goal!

I am totally with you on that one! I really need to get in the water. I have the two races, so I need 7 other swim sessions before the end of the month.. I think I can do it!

I tried out a nice gym yesterday  and my plan  was to go super-easy to save myself for the XC race tonight

but today  my shoulder and pecs  are sore from the  multiple sets of pull ups and dips i did on the two different machines they had  .                <---    Oopps That was not so clever .

Go Thunderbirds !

I got my first (of three) knee gel shot today. It should help my running. I had to go easy on the knee today but got in an hour bike ride.

How is everyone doing towards their goals? It's almost mid-month.

Had a really fun ride tonight. Rode up probably my favorite climb in the area. A 4 miler thats a consistent 7-8%, its a real grind all the way to the top. Its fairly twisty too so you get through one section and its just more climbing, it never lets up. I was having so much fun going up that I decided I would come back down and do it again! My elevation profile from the garmin looks like a giant M
