Just got this bike yesterday and took it for a spin today to practice riding in aero position.  This is differently a new feel and one that I hope to get a feel for soon.  Really can't wait for the new seat to come in as my female parts are still numb from this afternoon.

Training starts for me tomorrow......there are only 181 days so lots need to be done.  Took the last 2 weeks off of exercising in hopes of my hamstring feeling better which it is not.  I also been gorging on all the fattening food I could get my hands on.  That ends tomorrow also.

I thought reality would set in a few days after I signed up for the IMKY but it really hasn't.  Do you think it is because I want it so bad that I know what I am getting myself into or that reality just hasn't set in yet?

Wow, gone a week and look at all what's happened!

Kathy congrats on a new bike and IMKY, let the training begin!

Sherpa Deb rocks a 26.2 and Bryan does 2 races in a weekend?  did I get that right?

I took a break last week, was traveling to Europe again. I did read a funny book: sex,lies and triathlon;  maybe that counts for something?  

On the plane to Minneapolis now where a snow storm may thwart my return tomorrow.  time to start rescheduling flights!

left.right.repeat - 2012-02-24 8:18 PM Ann - don't overly stress about magic miles. But in a nutshell they are your fastest pace in a one mile run after a warmup.

It seems like a lot of walking but try this. On your next 5 mile or 10k run, run 2.5 the walk 1 - over and over. Then a few days later - run the same course again - as you would run it now. Then compare total times - how you feel - how fast you recover - etc. When I did this test I was amazed a how different it was. I was immediately converted.

Ok, so yesturday I planned an easy 3.5 mile run, cuz I have my long run scheduled for today.  Had a great run. Felt so good (It was the day after a rest day. Cool) A guy friend I ride with in the summer asked if I wanted to ride outside. around 1pm yest.  I couldn't resist, riding outside with some one. I told him, I can't push cuz I have my long run tom (he doesn't run) I can never ride with him and not push cuz he is so much stronger than me but he rides with me anyway. We did an easyish 18 mile ride.  Of course I pushed a little.  I felt tight this morning.  Thought I would reschedule my long ride for Thursday but it is 45 and sunny today and supposed to pour on Thursday.  So,  I said all that to say, I did Jeff Galloway. I only have 3-4 mile short runs and one long run a week so I though I would give it a go.  I did 3:1.  It felt great!!  I immediately felt a difference.  I didn't get tight half way through.  I did feel any discomfort including HR ntil the last mile.  The knees ached a bit then but not bad at all. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!  I finished and finally got to the local run shop for new sneakers (Long over due) and I picked up compression socks for recovery.  I still feel better than ever.  so I should use this for 5 miles and more?  Training and races?

Also, I got the book out again and you are who I thought you were, the guy with the bad news from the doc.  I am hoping my husband will read it and get some inspiration.  I'm rereading the whole story.

Hey Kathy,

I have bike envy.  Hope there is a new bike in my future but it looks more like next year.  You deserve it for your IMKY endeavor.  I'm also envious of that.  I hope I can get to IM some day!!  You truly are an inspiration.  Train hard.  You can do it!!

Good to see the thread being so active!!!

My Half-Ironman is officially 20 weeks away, let the fun begin!

I did P90X2 Core today, then went to the gym for a spinning class... Was going to run, but legs are feeling kind of trashed after X2 and spinning.. I'm sure largely due to my couch-to-half-Ironman-in20weeks jump start Rearranged my schedule to fit the run in later in the week, all good Going to a 5:15 spinning class tomorrow, so having a glass of wine now and off to bed. Night!

Okay Billy... I think there needs to be a 1 on 1 basketball game to 11 to decide who is doing Louisville with whom!!!  Ha...  (Making assumption that Tallchick has Game!! lmao)

My training suffered this weekend because I was in Denver for 4 days for a volleyball tournament for my daughter.  I did manage to get in 2 runs on the hotel treadmill, but was a total slacker one day and after the volleyball was done for the day did a little sightseeing with my daughter.  I took her to a brew pub for lunch.  Aren't I a good mom?  HA!

Got in at midnight last night, so I'm tired today.  Yoga may be the only thing that gets done this evening.  Hopefully I'll catch up on sleep tonight and be back to the regular schedule tomorrow.

 

Big congrats to Deb on her first 26.2!
