We always have lots and lots of leftovers. Even when I think I have cut down on the amount of food, once I put it out I realize that I overplanned once again. Thanks! Im a sucker for wanting to make sure everyone has what they want too... so its like "Im making 3 desserts but if you just must have x at christmas time we better have that too..." Its also a really good excuse for me to try new recipes... which I LOVE to do Im sure there will be a few disasters but Ive just realised (given its going to be summer) I can do some of the meat a day early and serve it cold! I definitely want to come visit! I bet even the 'disasters' will be delicious Aaw thanks... I guess the question is... has anyone got some good holiday meal/food suggestions/recommendations/,ust haves? Im always on the lookout for ideas! how many people? does it matter? Actually I dont know final numbers... hopefully no more than 10... hopefully much less than that! |

I haven't had any problems with my left ear up until now, but I certainly did when i swam competitively. I may have to start wearing an earplug in the left ear as well although I'll probably just use wax rather than getting another custom one made - i have to have a custom one for my right ear because of the tube - absolutely no water can get in or it is an instant EI! |

(smacking lips) There's nothing during the holidays like my mom's eggplant dressing (aka dirty rice - it's a cajun thing). And of course I've got to have my green beans with baby potatoes and bacon. I wouldn't know where to begin on the advice front, but it sounds like you are getting some good input. I'm sure Sal will have some words of wisdom to add as well as Hector, knowing that he just completed his first 1/2 Mary Good Luck! |

I've been wearing Mack ear plugs since I had a bad EI 2 years ago. I prefer it, especially in races as knocks the noise level from nearby swimmers about 30 dBSPL (acoustics geek talk!) which helps me focus on the swim.

LOL - you may want to give them a try - I've found that once you get used to them, they're not so bad and are better than the alternative just be sure to get the kind that you can mold to your ear |

Pro 6582 Melbourne FL | Subject: RE: They Who Shall Not Be Named (Twisnibbins) V enders_shadow - 2007-11-27 10:36 AM Need some Nibs advice...(no, not wine or ice cream, and no, I'm not having a wardrobe dilemma) - I need to get my Spring races picked & registered and I'm terribly torn and stressed about it. (Yeah, I know - the girl needs a new life if picking races stresses her out)... Anyway, I want to do 2 races this spring and my choices are 3/15 Half-Mary; about 1.5 hours away 3/29 Sprint (300 pool/10m/5K); about 1.5 hours away 4/5 10K; hometown 4/13 Sprint (300 pool/25K/5K); about 2.5 hours away 4/20 Sprint (750 lake/20K/5K); about 1 hour away So here's what I'm thinking ... I've never done a half-mary, so that's appealing - especially since I have been upping my run distance. The March 29 sprint is the first race I did, and I'd kinda like to "return to the scene of the crime" and see how improved I am. The 10K is a huge deal in my town...like ginormous...like everyone in town runs it. The April 13 sprint is not really on my radar screen, so I should probably just dispense, but it has a longer bike which would be a nice test. The April 20 sprint would be awesome, because it is a longer, OWS - but it's April people, and last year the water was so cold they offered a du option instead. Starting in early June, there are other races that are reruns of what I did last year and in my hometown (in fact, right across the street from my house). WWND??? (And heya, Judi - are you thinking of any of these?) Kristen 1/2 mary and the OWS Sprint gets my vote! More of the elements the better!!! |

Almost 7 1/2 years I've worked in this place and today was the first day I had ever been in the pool. Gonna try again later this week. By the end I could actually swim 25 yards without stopping. It took a while for the anxiety to die down. Good job! With time you'll get comfortable, proud of you for getting in there. |
