I'm tryin', I'm tryin'!

Sheesh, I have yet to update the team sheet with my 'workouts' although I did stipulate at the beginning of the challenge that any walking/running or cycling, etc. counts

I wasn't referring to our workout percentages-just the number of pages in our thread.

Got in another of those Thursday night hill workouts.  It's weird - i just never put in this many miles but now they're just piling on and on.  Last night was great - nice and cool.  Sausage and peppers/onions afterwards.  And beverage of choice was Sierra Nevada.  mmmm....

Hope y'all have a great weekend.  I got a bunch of kids' things going on.  Did I mention that my daughter was named captain of her soccer team?

hey melons, sorry about that whole freak out thing! i think i'm coming out the other side now. seems like this time of year i always have a little....i don't know, call it let down? the season is over, the beach vacay is over, school is going again, and i get the blues. and every year it catches me off guard! you'd think i would have figured it out by now. anyway, i think i'm ok again, (mostly) i've been training still, but i haven't been to my log in a few days, so i have some updating to do today. i think i might get out for some t.i.t.s too. before it gets too cold (we all know about cold t.i.t.s.)

Lyssa - The end of season is always tough.  It just feels like such an abrupt ending and then you get all these new pressures put on you.  Hang tough.  Just know that the downtime is good for you - time to recover for both the body and the mind.  And to re-evaluate your goals and reflect on what went right or wrong this past season.  I know I've changed my outlook once I found all the races in Central Park and the winter runs that our club puts on.  So now I have something to look forward to once the tri season ends.   Take some time to do whatever you want - don't force yourself into any structured workouts.  One of our local guys who wins just about every tri he enters basically takes a month or two off by doing absolutely nothing.  And I mean NOTHING!

Of course, that does mean there's more time to post!  ;-)

mchally - 2008-09-18 1:08 PM I got in a lap swim this morning.  Only 1000 yards, but every bit helps.

I remember 2 months ago when i could not swim 100 yards, let alone 1000, now i go 15-1600 and think i am short changing myself in the work out, cause i get bored in the pool.

It's all going to be okay!  If you need to let off some steam throw it my way.  I am great at listening(not just making noise ).  How was the beach trip?

I was the same boat in June-could only do a continuous 50 yards.  Now I can do a nonstop mile(when in good health).  I do have a competitive swimming background which helps.

I need to get in some time in the pool to reach my goal.  I have a really busy schedule and am feeling the time crunch.

A big congrats to you and your swim progress as well.  Laughing

My mind wanders so much that I have a hard time keeping track of my distance.  I end up trying to do a singsong repetitive count.

Team:

I am way behind on my goals. I was travelling which always sets off my depression whcih in turns keeps me from exercising. You'd think I'd learn to plow through it. I'll try to catch up as much as I can now that I am home and in a happier place.

I am the same way-ironically exercise makes me feel better, so why do I avoid it?  Maybe you should try bribing yourself, or get a friend to workout with.

I found a lap counter by googling "swim lap counter" and this is the first page that shows up. http://www.sportsunlimitedinc.com/swimming-lap-counter.html

I get a swim catalog for some reason at home and that is the only way I knew about them.

We all need one of these:

Oooooooo

I want one.

I don't *need* it.

But I *want* it.

Why?

Um. Just because it's so cool.

I've been slacking off on my swims lately. Having a cool toy like this might help me get to the pool. (It would be kind of difficult to use it in the bathtub....)

Although, given the price of gas lately.... maybe I'd better hold off. Bleh.

Can I keep arguing with myself about it for awhile though?

A SWIM catalog?

A swim CATALOG?

Someone puts out a *swim catalog*?

Like with swimming stuff?

Like... who?

Because I want to get swim catalogs in my mailbox.

Ooooo. A SWIM catalog.

Finally - junk mail that I would actually look at!

No no no. No crying allowed. If you really need a nap, ok - but just a short one. Then....

In the words of Nike, "JUST DO IT."

Once it's done, you'll be happy. And your little sister will be happy.

(If you don't do it, I'll let your little sister borrow my taser for awhile. That ought to wake you up....)
