erin116 - 2011-04-12 3:19 PM Maybe I should ask in the main forums, but does anyone have any good swim workouts for 3500+ yards? Most of mine top out at 2500-3000 and I get bored easily in the water. I'd like to hit 4000 at least once or twice this month but probably won't do so without an organized sets to keep me going.

My masters team regularly does 4,000+ yards a workout.  I don't have anything off the top of my head, but this week I'll be sure to write the workouts down afterwards and post them on ~Friday.

I did a 8x500 last week.  Sounds bad on paper, but I really enjoyed it.  You could also combine two 2000m workouts that you already have.

So let's see...  A typical Erin swim workout...  lololo   Get in pool and swim 500, talk to the person in the next lane for 10 minutes, adjust goggles, swim 500, talk to person splitting your lane for 15 minutes, swim 500...  Repeat until reaching 4000...

That should only take you a couple hours !!  LMAO!!!!

Anyone have any insight on the water temp, and whether or not this will be a wetsuit race?

Do not plan on wearing a wetsuit.  I am thinking water temps will be in the high 70's, maybe even break 80.  You can scroll back a few pages where people gave greater insight on this subject, but bottom line is that it will not be a wetsuit legal race for those wanting to be eligible for prizes (and keep from overheating).

Open the last document on this thread.  It has many and some are pretty good.

Anyone else doing Ironman NOLA this wkend.  I am pretty pumped to put 6 months of training to use FINALLY.  Will be a good tuneup for Texas.  I plan on keeping my heartrate in training zones to minimize recovery time after the race, and other ideas on how to make this a good training race for IM TX?

I'll be there!  Can't wait.  I did the race last year and it was my favorite triathlon I've ever done.  Between the COMPLETELY closed course (there are police at literally every intersection on both the bike and run courses) and the AWESOME post-race food, it's going to be a great time.

I did NOLA last year, it's pancake flat on the bike and the run so it may be an invitation to hammer on. Don't do it, stay aerobic and use it only as a training day. The run through the park get's pretty hot, so get ready for some heat. Very easy on the bike and the first few miles of the run. The last two are incredibly nice going across the french quarters, you'll be cheered by a million drunks. Laughing

37 DAYS???

Ha! I LOVE IT! I'm using it as motivation to get my butt in gear training - only 37 more days until I don't have to worry about training anymore. Yay!

Long run on tap tonight. Won't be anywhere near an 8:49 pace though. Great job on your longest run yet!

I wish I could. I was planning on the same thing for Good Friday! I presented it here, Congress approved (my daughters), but the President Veto'd it. Congress was easy to bribe, President not so much.

Can anyone confirm that you will swim "inside" the bouy line and not "outside" closer to the shore.  I am thinking about this race for next year, and the swim map appears that swimmers will have buoys to the right on the main part of the leg, and then switch to the left after the final turn.  Seems odd as you would have the potential to have athletes going both directions meet in the middle, especailly if they swim off course as I often do.
