Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for the pic-posting tips, Hilde, and for helping me show off my bike! Ain't she purty? (And fabulously comfy, too, I must add-- LOVE riding!) I recently got a Polar RCX5 (the spiffy multisport one with GPS) to replace my Garmin as the bike sensor for the Garmin didn't survive the accident-- will pass on the Garmin to my brother, as he's just getting started. I *really* like the Polar-- has more bells & whistles than I've figured out yet, but the interface is really lovely and clear, and I can make the output info as simple or as complex as I like. I also like the HR training zones, so I can tell where I am vs where I'm supposed to be. So far, so good! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Got my last long run in today! The plan was for 20 miles, but I went ahead and did one more, just to prove to myself that "the wall" is fictional. I really never thought I'd make it this far without getting sidelined by an injury, so I'm really stoked! I can almost see myself doing it now! Now I'm taking my daughter out for fish tacos (today's a 1/2 day for her school), and to my favorite pastry shop for red velvet cupcakes- Mmmm! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() CRAP OH CRAP!!! Just found out they cancelled the swim portion of my tri TOMORROW due to low lake levels (due to drought). It was only 300 yards, but still... I think I'm just not gonna mess with it, I am STILL battling this stupid cold, going on almost 3 weeks now, and I can run and bike at home AND get to sleep till a normal hour. I really was looking forward to it, but I wanted to TRI not DU! I'm disappointed.... they were sooooooo disorganized last year, I can't imagine what a cluster F**K they'll make it. How will they start everyone, a mass start?? It start with a huge UPHILL! Recipe for disaster... dammit. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hilde, I think you need some quality time with a blanket and some chicken soup! I've completely lost my patience with poorly run events and refuse to do them any more. I vote for you to stay home. If you don't listen to my words of wisdom, I wish you good luck and speedy legs! |

It may have but I don't believe that a fanny pack was involved. Good to see you out and about (or aboot as they say in Canada) again! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Drive by "Have a happy weekend all" from me. I'm still alive, I'm still gutting my place to make room for the arrival of our little freeloader, and I'm trying (and often failing) to watch what I eats so I can lose weight. I hope everyone is well and finally stays healthy! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() hildekq - 2011-09-19 6:19 AM So do they serve O'Douls at Oktoberfest?? Hmmmmm, I think not.... Wilson, just for reference... I did 3 years in an Army Band in Germany... our typical job consisted of playing beer tents... nothing on the scale of Oktoberfest, but the same kind of vibe in a small town. All the free beer we could drink, and free food, sometimes we'd get a tour of someplace in the town. Nothing like a cold beer at 9 a.m. on a Sunday morning! Oh, we'd play wine fests too... there were a couple of those I'm not sure how I got home... back in my party days. I was one of only a few girls in the band, so I was surrounded by "brothers" who kept me safe, ha ha! Yep, paid to drink beer and travel, that was the life! I knew you were in Germany for a number of years, but you didn't tell me your were a famous Oktoberfest band..damn...those must have been out of control days!! haha I'm pretty sure I was drunk for 3 days straight! haha....wow - didn't know I could still do that! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() wrkinprogress - 2011-09-19 6:07 PM Hi everybody! OK, let's see if this works... some bike pr0n for Hilde, because she's been so VERY good and VERY patient... [ETA: Drat! Can't seem to figure out how to make the photo show up! Help? Wilson? Hilde?]No idea if that worked or not, since I can't see it in the post as I type! But the photo's in my album if anyone wants to see it... Today started off grey and rainy and grumpy (on the part of yours truly), and it's now bright and sunny and accomplished (on the part of yours truly)-- the latter as a result of my having HTFU'd and got the double workout done this morning! Amazing how training can make you feel better about the world, isn't it? Will try posting this to see if the photo worked-- hope so! (Apologies if it doesn't-- can someone show me how when you get a minute?) Hope you're all well and enjoying your respective days! Alex Awesome bike porn Alex - glad you got a sexy new ride. When you bought it did you get the extra guarantee that it would make you 2 mph faster for an average!! Another nice bike paraded naked on here!!! I gotta get me a new one soon...I feel left out..haha.....Can't wait to hear the ride reports! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Turtle, nice job on the 21 miles - that's incredible!!! And you're right - no injuries....that calls for a crazy dance. You're gonna do great and add to the incredible list of accomplishments for MMMers. Kati, nice job on getting some new toys for the sport! I had a polar a long time ago with just a simple HR function - good for the pool since it was water proof. I can't wait to see the picture of you in a fanny pack...with a camelbak on too!!! SEXY!! Maybe some compression socks for the 5k too...oh yeah, and a headband...a fuzzy one.. LMAO Hilde, sucks on your Tri, but you're right with the cold and stuff probably not a horrible thing to not happen. ------------- So guys, I'm back at home!!! Two weeks of being gone is a long time for me....I really missed my family a lot, but at the same time really enjoyed my time without them....if that makes any sense. It was a nice break from everyday grind and I had lots of new experiences too. I think i may have gained about 10lbs due to all the pork and beer - I haven't drank that much beer in a LONG LONG time. I will step on the scale tomorrow to begin my crying!! I've spent about a month pretty much doing nothing and I'm totally out of the groove - i hope I can get back in without too much resistance. haha. My right ankle is still messed up and painful, so I guess I'll get an MRI and see what I did...dunno...So running is out, but no reason why strength training and biking and swimming is out...So lots of options and that shouldn't stop me. Just gotta get my head wrapped around it all again....may be hard, but I think I have the will power. Maybe the long time away is a good thing????? So, off to cook this kiddos some breakfast and then I'll try and get to some inspires....I missed working out and blogging on here - you guys have been doing some cool stuff.......Especially our new IRONMAN!!!!!! |

He said he did it in under 4 hrs, stood out there watching for a couple hours trying to keep an eye out for him but no luck. We corresponded via text before and after the race. He said he had a late birthday/marathon celebration with friends afterwards so that was good. Soooooo many peole here for the race, insane. Nice relaxing weekend overall. Nothing too crazy! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Love the shirts, Wilson! One of my faves I saw at a race last year had printed near the hemline on the back: "Does this shirt make my a$$ look fast?" Hilarious! Running in the rain last week was actually kinda fun...but I'm looking forward to getting back in the pool on campus days; meetings have been all over the blinkin' place! (Oh, and Wilson-- the new ride makes 18MPH feel utterly effortless-- can't wait to get on a bike path that will let me REALLY let 'er rip!) Hope everyone has a great week! |
