Originally posted by Oysterboy This was a very divisive election and we need to give them some space to vent (again, note that I DO NOT condone violence or damage to property). But we have to recognize that the right to express your differences in a public way IS an American right. Americans were doing this at the time of the Boston Massacre, Daniel Shay's rebellion, at the Edmund Pettus bridge, and at Kent State. If this goes on for another week then I am with you, but for now, allow them to voice their constitutional right. And don't take it so personally, there is more that unites us than divides us.

Not so much.  I have a "bit" of experience with what this is.  Many of the people you see protesting are part of a network that has been involved in the protest movement through BLM, occupy Wallstreet, etc. for a number of years.  They're anarchists basically, shadow funded through a number of channels, and surprisingly well organized.  The Democrats have let the wolf in the door......and it cost them everything last week.  That party is in shambles at this point.....all self-inflicted.  What are they doing?  Venting against their own stupidity?

Today and tommorow they can protest some more......and on Sunday Trump will still be the President-elect.  And each day they lose a bigger chunk of a chance to ever win back the people who are voting them down.

They have now lost the Presidency, The House, the Senate, the Supreme Court, and any public confidence.  That's a pretty good roll just to stay up past bedtime and set some boxes on fire. LMAOOOO

Yes I am.....I wonder how all the poor losers like it?

See.....the problem is, they thought they were winning because we just sat there and let them act stupid the last few years. In fact, because we just stood there and took it.  The more embolden they became, the more resolute we became.

How do you like me now?  We wiped the liberal party out without a single rock being thrown, or even a single meeting on how to do it. Thanks for the help.

Don't make me weed thru 60 pages of this tread to pull out all the times someone on the left talked smack and mocked Trump and his supporters.

Let's face it, the country is divided. Politics is a dog eat dog world and right now democrats are wearing Milkbone underwear.

8 years we've had executive orders crammed down our throats. That ends on day 1. Two years dems forced Obamacare on us with zero GOP support. Let's see what is feels like when the shoe is on the other foot and and that foot planted up your donkey. :-)

I said I wouldn't mope or gloat... and I won't.  But LB -- you're gloating about the dems lack of humility getting them what they deserve?  Think about that for a minute.  The pendulum always swings in this country's politics.

If the republicans get some people back to work and keep the economy rolling, more power to them.  But if they bury us in recession and send more of our guys off to fight in some country no one cares about, then it's going to be a short stay in power.

I don't think Trump has ever really *had* a plan so I have no idea which prediction will come true.

I think far more people were worried about Clinton keeping us in wars (and maybe starting some new ones) than they were Trump and the economy depressing policies of the Obama administration were getting really old.

Assuming he gets his tax plan in right away for business and gets rid of the ridiculous ACA we will see an economic boom like we've never seen before.  I won't give specific numbers, but I'll personally be able to hire five more people with zero net change in my take home with his new corporate plan.  I sell to businesses and if you increase every business bottom line by 20-30% through less taxes there will be crazy hiring and investing.

It does hinge on him getting it done, but if he does get his plan put through then we could quite possibly see a 50 state sweep in 4 years.     (ok, maybe 49.  California is still likely too far gone

Lack of humility??  Is that what you call talking down to 60,000,000 people as if you are better then they are?  Is that what you call watching a bunch of idiots burn and loot businesses while you decry their 1st amendment right to protest?  The liberals in this country got  EXACTLY what they deserved.....and I'm going to continue to gloat until the last one of the little whining arses is off the street.

I have to say.....listening to these children talk about the coming revolution might be the funniest thing to come out of all of this.

Presidency - conservatives

House - conservatives

Senate - conservatives

Supreme Court - soon to be conservative

Colin Kapernick - liberal

Wow......the libs are catching up.

There it is....the homophobic label. It's a term used to label anyone who does not condone the homosexual lifestyle.

Just like bigot and racist, homophobic has been used, abused and misused to the point that all it does is anger those who are unfairly lumped into these buckets. The entire Trump supporting 60 million demographic had been labeled homophobic, bigoteted, racists, misogynistic and hateful.

He did almost single handedly destroy the NFL so you can't say he didn't accomplish anything.

Dave, that's a lie flying around the progressive circles to try and convince each other that Progressivism is still the standard and Trump only won because Obama voters stayed home.  It's not true.

The vote "totals" that everyone has been using are the incomplete votes this year in comparison to the total vote count in 2012.  Earlier today there were still an estimated 6M votes yet to be counted with absentee and mail in ballots.
Trump passes Romney’s popular vote total, likely to break GOP record

That presents an uncomfortable reality for anti-Trump forces: they’re attempting to thwart the candidate who is likely to win more Republican primary votes than any GOP contender in at least the last 36 years, and maybe ever.

There are hundreds of counties in the "rust belt" where the shift in GOP votes between Romney in '12 and Trump '16 was up over 20%, many eclipsing 40%.  I'll give you a hint - they didn't grow a new batch of racists/bigots in the last four years - people who voted for Obama voted for Trump.

call it whatever you want to call it. I don't care. The point is, anyone that does not condone, endorse, support and rally for homosexuals are labeled homophobic....which is a bs label.

Thx that's appreciated.

On the protest topic - if people want to assemble and protest *peacefully* against anything about the government, that's their constitutional right.  I just wish they'd exerted more of that energy getting out to vote!

As for me, I just try to give my perspective, not push it on anyone else.  Also as someone on the coast, I'm reminding you all that a lot of us work hard and make our own way and are not freeloaders

That is all.

I'm just having some fun with you guys on a Friday afternoon. In all seriousness, you all have been a great group to kick this around with over the last year or so and I've learned a lot during it. I'd be proud to have any of you to my home with my family for dinner on any day. I hope every one of us can look back in 4 years and be happy with our country and where we are. I think if the rest of the country could come together in discussion like we have here we'd all have nothing to worry about.

One thing about labeling people Dave, is it goes both ways.  I do agree that people should be able to live their lives no matter what their social beliefs are and there most certainly are some differences in how gays are treated by the law compared to heterosexual couples.
This has been slowly changing over the years and that's a good thing.

Where I feel the desire for equal marriage rights goes wrong is that proponents do resort to shaming and labeling tactics to try and bully their way into change.  People don't like bullies no matter how noble their cause is and it eventually backfires.
It wouldn't surprise me if gay rights get set back a ways due to the cataclysmic change in the political landscape, but it's happening because of the way the changes were forced into place.  You have to sell the idea, bring people on board, and then together make changes that everyone can agree on.

Trump does care about the gay community, so I am personally very curious how he is going to work his way through the important issue.
