I've been fighting with my half blocked internet here at work trying to order tix to see the circus in a few weeks.  UGH!!!!!!!

Finally had to call and had to talk to a "computerized person".  Double UGH!!!!

But at least we're all going to the circus!  My parents will be in town for Granparents Day at my daughter's school that weekend so they can go too.  I can't wait to tell the kids!!

I'm a slacker dad. My son has never been to the circus and he is 18. Last time I went was probably over 30 years ago and I have never been to a big circus like Barnum and Bailey.

Paul, don't feel bad.  I've taken my kids twice and both times, at intermission, they said, "Yay, it's over... can we go home now?"  It was Barnum and Bailey, but it should have been called Boredom and Costly... it's just not that great anymore.  Seeing elephants walk around in a circle just doesn't do it for me.

pdbman - 2010-04-20 12:00 PM I just figured out why its so quiet.  We're missing the Bills.

As you can see, I'm back!  Needed a mental health day yesterday.  My daughter stayed home "sick" from school.  She said her stomach hurt, but I think she also needed a MH day also.  They just went through standardized testing for the past week+ and softball practices and games are almost constant this month and next.  So we all stayed home to recharge the batteries.

I just have a quick run planned for today.  Tonight I have to do laundry and pick out what I'm going to wear for my race on Saturday!  Lol, I'm such a girl Wink
I do the same thing.

I do too!

I pick out whatever doesn't have holes worn through it! Embarassed  But I did just buy a new pair of 2XU tri shorts that I'm using only for races this year.

What race are you doing?

It's the Derby Festival Marathon in Louisville!  It looks like it should be fun, as long as the thunderstorms hold off!

Good luck in your race, Missy!  Hope the weather holds out for you.

35 minute trainer ride this morning... running outside at lunch for a few miles.  Continuing to take it easy this week so I'm 100% for the start of my 20-week training program on Monday.  What a concept... tapering for a training program!

tri808 - 2010-04-20 8:05 PM Got my usual 5 mile run in at lunch.  I'm really starting to see improvements in my running.  I actually look forward to my runs now.

I'm the same way!  I used to HATE running, but now it's my favorite!

For me, it's a love/hate relationship.  When I'm feeling good...running is awesome.  But when my legs are beat up, and I'm just not feeling it...I dread running.  As my running progresses, it means I can slowly increase volume and intensity...and the vicious cycle starts again...LOL

I definitely mix up my runs with tempo runs, intervals, long runs, & recovery runs. . . With all that variation, I'm almost always looking forward to my run!  (Except if the weather is really bad and I have to do it on the treadmill Yell... But then, I only do it for fun, so if I don't wanna run a certain day, I don't!)

It has a long way to go to become my favorite, but I don't ever dread it like I used to. I can put up an amazing 10-minute procrastination routine, though!

Lol, I do the procrastination thing with the swim and bike.  Which is funny, because I actually enjoy doing both those things, but it just takes me a little bit to get started.  It's a good thing tris are swim-bike-run because knowing I get to run at the end, gets me motivated to get through my swim and bike!

kimk - 2010-04-21 7:26 AM Morning ATeam! I am stiff this morning, my hip is really bothering me kinda worried for my tri...I really had high hopes for a good race with possible podium placement....but not looking good now. I am thinking I will cut back on everything....even do the least amount in teaching my classes(which never happens) We will see how I feel after backing off. Although I still have Yoga, and 3 water classes today. and cycle and silver sneakers tomorrow. I have been stretching and using a foam roller several times a day. Have to take my 12yr old to the DR for an EKG today, she complained of her heart hurting on Monday so we took her to her ped, they think it is just the muscle but want to make sure.

Frown  Hope your hip feels better!  I hope everything turns out ok with your daughter!

I am very excited.  I may have mentioned before...My best friend bought me an awesome pannier for my birthday.  It is an Ortlieb, waterproof, top of the line, and carries my laptop in addition to other stuff.

I bought a rear rack last night from REI (after 30 minutes on the bus and an hour on the bike to get there).  I mounted it and was able to use my pannier for the first time this morning.  The bike is a bit side heavy when walking it, but once I get in the saddle it isn't an issue.  I also brought a warmer change of clothes and a winter jacket...something that I am very grateful to have today.

The rain this morning reminded me that I need to get some fenders to make this bike a decent commuter.  I prefer not to have a constant stream of water hitting me in the chest(and occasionally in my face as well).  Also...I need to waterproof my shoes.

My parents took me to the circus when I was maybe 7. . . I don't remember much about it, except that I was scared because I thought I was gonna fall through the bleachers.  And then I couldn't see, so my dad put me on his lap, which scared me even more being higher up.  And I thought it smelled bad in there because of all the animal poop.

So yeah, basically I didn't enjoy the circus when I was a kid!

Good morning A-Team!  Now I'm semi-caught up (still haven't read anything from over the weekend.  Not sure if I'll get to it any time soon!)

Just a quick ride on the trainer this morning.  45 min of easy spinning.  My HIM training plan technically starts next week, but I'm tweaking it so that I'm recovering from running and just doing easy swimming and biking for the next few weeks.

I wish my son liked biking a little more. I tried taking him out for rides when he needed his biking merit badge for scouts and it wasn't quite the bonding experience I was hoping for. I would try to talk but we couldn't hear each other unless we were side by side and there wasn't the room for that. Then I would be casually riding along and look behind me and he would be gone. I didn't think I was going fast. I definitely wasn't pushing it. It hadn't been more than a couple of minutes since I last checked. I had to keep looking over my shoulder every 30 seconds or so. Finally I put him in front so I wouldn't keep dropping him and he didn't like that at all. He didn't like the pressure of being out front with me right behind him. Now he's 18 and will graduate in about a month and then will be off to college somewhere. Life goes by too fast. I wish there was more time.
