mr2tony - 2013-01-26 1:47 PM I'm just sitting here, waiting for people to take what I said in another thread too seriously and get mad.

I am so offended I'm speechless.

Well if you're ever in FL I have this guy I can set you up with!

Does he like speechless women?
Don't all men? Too much yammering anyway!
I actually agree with most of them...

Tony's points that is, not women's yammering.

Left Des Moines in Icy conditions after spending the night after the RAGBRAI announcement party and being with friends.  Starting to plan the family vacation for people in at least 5 states coming to do RAGBRAI 41 with us again.  Even my brother from New York is planning on the the rolling hills of Iowa.

RAGBRAI route shows that it will be one of the shortest but also a decent climbing route on a couple days.  Can't wait to have a family vacation again.

Of the 5 years spent in Iowa City getting a 4 year degree, not doing Ragbrai was one of my biggest regrets.

1.  painting sucks.  a lot.  my house is beautiful now but every part of me hurts.

We are getting ready to repaint two rooms and have to tape off a lot of old oak woodwork.  That is what I hate the most.  And by the most, I will paint a room in 20 minutes or less and have great coverage, but taping takes me 2+ hours.  Trying to keep an 1890's woodwork clean from any more damage than from the previous owners, without stripping it back to original wood and refinishing it.

For painting a whole house I found it better to just play people with the professional sprayers. For just one or two rooms I do it myself. Now scraping off the acoustic ceiling oh man that is hell.

I actually enjoy painting. Huge accomplishment factor. It is the prep time which is more difficult. Once you fix the holes, nail pops, tape, remove switch plates, move furniture, etc, the actual painting is easier.

Oh, man... I remodeled my kitchen a couple of years ago; I combined two rooms into one.  When I took down the wall between the rooms, I found that the walls were different thicknesses. It turns out a previous owner had put a 1/4" layer of drywall up over the wall in the room I was adding on... so, rather than put more drywall up, I took what they added down.   Oy, that sucked because what they had covered was that popcorn ceiling texture on the wall, from floor to ceiling.  That was a nightmare of scraping, belt sanding, and a three skim coats of drywall mud to smooth it out..... I should have just put up more drywall.
