false....turnout was much lower...trump got fewer votes than romney.....the obama voters voted for clinton or stayed home

Dave, that's a lie flying around the progressive circles to try and convince each other that Progressivism is still the standard and Trump only won because Obama voters stayed home.  It's not true.

The vote "totals" that everyone has been using are the incomplete votes this year in comparison to the total vote count in 2012.  Earlier today there were still an estimated 6M votes yet to be counted with absentee and mail in ballots.
Trump passes Romney’s popular vote total, likely to break GOP record

That presents an uncomfortable reality for anti-Trump forces: they’re attempting to thwart the candidate who is likely to win more Republican primary votes than any GOP contender in at least the last 36 years, and maybe ever.

Whoops, darn google.  I read a politico article this morning describing why the votes argument was bunk and searched for it.  Accidentally grabbed the above linked article that was from the primaries.  (oddly it was dated this week on the google search)  anyways now I can't find the other one.

Anyways, there are still 6M votes to be counted and he will far surpass Romney's vote totals when all is said and done.

Still..... I remain dissapointed in Bruce Springsteen. When he showed up for Clinton I was all..."Bruce.....no, not you, let them have Miley Cyrus"

I can't find a reference online, but I was listening to the radio on the drive home and they mentioned that the Democrats now have the least amount of elected officials nationally than ever in their history.  Includes National, State, and Local.

I do know they've been declining for several years, so it makes sense.  If true, then it should tell us where the pulse of America really is.

I'm trying to empathize with the losers protesting and I think back on the two Obama elections and how I thought the country was doomed.....but I never felt the need to go beat my head against the wall. I just accepted the fact that more Americans did not share my paradigms than did. I'm ok with that. As a republican I accept that my support of legalization of pot, assisted suicide, decriminalize prostitution and gambling. The world does not have to agree wth you.

The protests reflect poorly on our educational system. I'm just amazed at the number of people who think the US is a democracy and saying 'one person one vote'. If we were a democracy, the majority would ride rough shod over minorities. The founding fathers recognized this and put the electoral system in the constitution. The fact that Trump didn't win the popular is a teachable moment for people who think our government is a democracy. We are a constitutional republic. We choose representatives to represent everyone not the majority.

This is a pretty interesting comparison of the electoral college over the years.

The one that surprised me the most was Nixon in 72. I only know of him as the crook getting impeached, but the dude was crazy popular.

I just heard a news commentary about the electoral vote. He asserted if the POTUS was elected by popular vote Clinton would have won. SMH!

So if it was a straight majority vote, the GOP would easily pick up 2+ million votes in CA if they actually campaigned there.

Yeah and the democrats would pick up just under half of Texas.  What's your point?

We honestly have no way of knowing, but we do know both campaigns would campaign differently than they did so the popular vote would be "different".

Another issue is the amount of fraudulent votes in heavy blue districts that are being discovered.  I know we've beat the voter fraud thing to a pulp here, but it's a real problem and it's a real problem in all the areas that don't require any kind of ID or name to be given.
Just saw a moron in NYC who was bragging about voting 7 times in NYC, but he finally got busted when he forgot to take his "I voted" sticker off.  He asked if he was under arrest and they said no so he just went to a different precinct to keep voting.
Obama was also blatantly encouraging illegal aliens to go out and vote and promised there would be no legal consequences for them.

As part of the swamp draining, I do hope they can put in a Federal law requiring either an ID or at the least giving a name that is verified to be registered at the precinct.

Calexit is looking for funding. I plan to send them 10 bucks as soon as I find where to send it.

The thing is… since she did win the popular vote ( as we're being told repeatedly ) we're technically minorities. Makes a lot of this BS hate crime gray area.

The point is, if we elected the POTUS by popular vote, the popular. One would be vastly different. No way of knowing what the popular vote would be. The only thin we do know is that the election would ignore about half the country. As I posted previously, CA alone with 39 million people would have more voting power the the combined voting power of the bottom 21 least populous states.

Reinvent Priebus, WH Chief of Staff. Excellent choice!

I also like that he named Mike Pence to lead transition. I hope he keeps Mike engaged. Too often the VP is tested like a potted plant.

I'll be following this guy and have several others as well, but there is a ton of evidence about voter fraud this time around.  This guy did an analysis of voter registrations compared to number of votes cast in precincts and came up with this estimate.
