Thanks for the Happy Birthday notes... I turned 52 today... and it feels good...

Just got back from a party at our older daughters house.  I skipped the jello shots...  It is fun to see all the kids grow up into such engaging your adults...

Also, Dee... If you are going to quote me then you should expect me to live up to your expectation... Emerson

Ok Pammy...my Bt daughter. HOW DID YOUR RACE GO!!?? It gives me butterflies in my stomach when I even think of others racing, it so exciting!!!! So how did you feel, etc... I'm waiting.

Emerson - you look fantastic darling...for 52!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy belated BD. The flooding is to my north so we are safe, thanks for asking...but the heat is definately a hinderance to my training. I have my next tri sat. and with trying to stay on the MCM training progam for my marathon in Oct. is getting quite difficult....what did I think I was super women....ha...NO I'm super AMY...ha

Dee - thanks for staying so consistent with your posts to me, I love the sparkle and shine that you leave me... Hey, many people that just started our Y tri group went and bought the 7500 Denali bikes at target for there racing bikes, very low cost, and from experience they do a good job for you. I don't know if Wally World has them or not, have you checked?

Eric - how's the tan????? hmmmm Do you feel re-generated after your beach experience???? Good to have you back.

Julie - You running is going very well, I think you need to consider a marathon...what cha think?

And you get a ooohhhhhwwwweee for the worms Emerson....yuck!!!ha

Everyone have a great week....and just keep on tri-ing...

Love from Indiana

Thanks! I've heard about the Denali bikes before - sometimes Walmart has them, and sometimes they don't. You just have to time it right.

I'm holding off on bike-looking right now. My knee has been giving me trouble, so I'm just going to let it get better first. I have no idea what I did to it, but I almost fell down the stairs. It was a very graceful moment. LOL

OK folks after a six week funk, I am back in the saddle today...  I am taking a quote from another BT friend "Zilla"  -->   2008 -  Kick my own !  There is only one motivation that counts, that is the one that is inside of us... Today is the day it starts again.  The focus is back, and no-one will take it back from me...

You are all so wonderful to have dropped me so many nice little inspires or notes when I needed it or when I dumped a rant on the blog.  The new focus is out, the new focus has started and together we will all do things we have never done before!!

"People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success."

- Norman Vincent Peale

Hey guys. sorry I'm awol again. been a busy few days. I'll see my heart doc on Wednesday to know for sure everything that's going on. I did start training again last week, then got too busy on Friday through today.

The Good: We had a swim meet Saturday, then some friends came and hung out. My oldest and youngest kids qualified for an invitational swim meet that was sunday (all afternoon) and Monday night. I just got home from that @ 11:30. They had great meets.

The Bad: Stef got a call on Friday. Some of the problems she's been having (vomiting, can't eat, etc) are because the cancer has spread to her pancreas and both kidneys. Met with the doc today. He wants to try one more treatment then stop treatment. He told us she's basically in a hospice situation. He also said that because the cancer is now so widespread, when the symptoms really start to hit (pain, fatigue, etc) she will die quickly. So far, she has no pain but lots of fatigue plus the other issues I mentioned. I'm not sure if she has a few weeks or a few months. If she makes it until her birthday (Sept 16) or the triathlon (Sept 7) she'll have done well.

The Good: I've got a telephone interview tomorrow morning with the company here. Then I"m flying out on Sunday for interviews on Monday with the rest of the management team. I'll come home Monday night. Someone asked if I was going to move forward with getting the job. I have no choice. I don't have enough money to last much longer. And I think it would help Stephanie to know there is some security there. It would also help me mentally to have that to go to and concentrate on something other than her situation. Meanwhile, I've got to figure out how to help my kids through this. They've already talked to me about a starting date of July 21, which would give me some time with Stef right now. Depending on her, I may even need to push that back. It's just so hard to know what to do right now.

I hope everyone else is doing well. I've not had a chance to catch up on blogs in the past few days. Sounds like good stuff from reading the last few posts.

Good night,

Greg

Greg,

Good Luck with the job.  Our prayers are with you and Stef.  You are the leader and provider for your family.  Being in solid health yourself, both physically (workouts) and mentally (breaks and financially sound), is paramount to being the man you need to be for Stef, your kids and your future.

Get the job, and be the leader for your family.

We are with you, Emerson

Greg - I know you probably get all kinds of advice from people so I won't give you any, just know that I'm praying that God will lead you gently through some of the harder times yet to come in your life, I pray you have strength, health, and that He gives you the knowledge to make the most difficult decisions ahead... In your future you will look back on this time of Steph's illness and have no regrets, you are doing your best!!!! Try to stay strong... Your kids come from two strong parents, they will survive intact...
Sincerely,
Amy Mutz

Emerson - I have been thinking about your illness of late. Do you think you may have contracted the salmonella poisoning from the tomatoes they have been talking about nationally????? I just wonder.
I'm glad you are back in the saddle again.... I have faith that you will get back one day at a time to yourself.
I will definately meet you at the IMKY...we are staying in Louisville Saturday night at the Hampton Inn downtown, and we are going to fourth street live, maybe we can meet up with you there for some social time. My husband and I are looking forward to that, he knows all about you.

This is just a small portion of the Southern Indiana Triathlete Team. We took a ride over to Owensboro Ky to ride the course for the upcoming tri this Saturday.
It was fun. Yes I'm in the picture.
