joes - 2011-10-04 11:15 AM Wilson, you do know of course, you have to actually ride it if you buy one

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah - don't worry, I'll ride it!! Laughing  Glad all you guys liked the bike porn...The hard part is finding the bike in my size that I can ride it locally.....The first place I went to ride the Cannondale only had a very small size and 2 women's bikes...boooooo....I need a 58 - maybe a 60 so it's gonna be hard to find those 4 models available in my size......dunno.  May have to go to Chicago to one of the big bike stores and see if I can do better up there...Maybe Alex knows some places that would be good.  I have lots of time and I'm not in a big hurry.

Peggy, I also have the Kurt Kinetic fluid trainer and really like it.  I bought it because of it's design and reputation.  It seems to be the industry standard in trainers - lots of coaching dvds and trainers use the KK.  It's easy to use, built like a tank, stable and does a pretty good job of simulating on the road effort too....At 20mph it's pretty comparable to my road experience.  I'm glad I paid a little extra for the KK over some of the others and there is a sealed oil design so you don't get oil all over the place after lot of use - it shouldn't leak....at least thats a big selling point.  The reviews I've read have all been pretty good - not much negative to say about it.  You can probably goto any larger bike shop and hop on one to try it out.  The two places that I've had my fitting done use a KK and all the others I've visited seem to use it too.

Good luck!!

Peggy, I also have the Kurt Kinetic fluid trainer.  I've had it for 2 years without any problems.  I really like it, my husband teases me that I ride more on the trainer than on the roads.  (and he is right!)  I find spinning away while watching documentaries online is meditative.  I don't have to think about traffic or flat tires or anything.  I've never been concerned about anyone getting hurt, but I also don't have any kids around, and my dogs are too busy snoozing in front of the wood stove to bother me.  I keep it set up all year and put my old bike on it during the summer and my roadie on it during the winter months.  The shop that sold me the trainer talked me into getting a special trainer tire for the rear wheel.  Its a really thick rubber and it is orange for some reason.  I went ahead and had it mounted on its own wheel so in the winter I can pop off the road wheel and put the trainer wheel on and I'm good to go.  Let us know what you end up with.

Oh man, as if the student behavior hasn't been bad enough, today we have trucks and bulldozers laying down dirt and sod outside my portable and the other 4 portables near me.  It is CRAZY, we go outside and the bulldozer is dropping dry powdery dirt and the wind is whipping around so it's getting in our eyes, we can hear them driving around, it's a mess!  I have finally given up trying to teach them their dance for the upcoming Barn Dance and have plugged them in.  Finally they are being quiet, gotta LOVE Toy Story!!  Can't wait to get out of here for the weekend... a ride with Tammy and Kati tomorrow and another group ride on Sunday!!

Dearest Hilde and Tucker:

Sorry I can't make the bike ride tomorrow, I'm a large bit under the weather.  Summer colds are the worst!!!  However, BudLight and Nyquil make a lovely sick-girl cocktail.  I'll be sure to hit the wheels with you sexy broads as soon as possible!  AND, as below seen, I'll be sporting my new 4-eyes, still getting used to this...wearing glasses after 10 years of squinting brings on massive Headaches although it slightly resembles tripping on Mushrooms because EVERYTHING is SO vivid and extra 3D-ish.

Check out the latest Garmin!!!  http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/05/garmins-forerunner-910xt-sport-watch-begs-to-become-your-new-sw

The 910xt has all three sports, PLUS the full swim suite of analytics (ie stroke, lap, efficiency, etc) and 20 hrs of battery!  Essentially an upgrade to the 310xt to include the swim analysis, doubled the battery life, and not quite half the thickness....all for a small penny of $400!

I must admit it's tempting to see that new Garmie!!  If I only had an extra $400 to spend.... so I'll stick with the 305, brand new for $149....  yeah, I'm a cheap babe!

Okay, now for some bike porn...Brad and I went for a ride today to make sure the new bike and I got along well.  We did well together - the start of a great team.  Only one mishap...almost..haha....we were cruising along and I was on the handlebars and instinctively went to move my hands to the drops....EEEEEkkkkkk - this bike doesn't have drops..I veered left and about $hit myself..haha...Brad laughed and commented how good that move looked...Brad was pretty brave to ride along side of me in the aerobars!!!  Actually the bike handles like a dream...I hit 33 mph in the aero bars and it felt great - that was within the first mile of the ride....DANGER!  I don't hurt anywhere after the ride except the taint...that is very sore!!!  The race saddle leaves a lot of comfort to be desired - damn, that's gonna be the hard part to get used to..Didn't realize how forward you ride in aero - it's not uncomfortable, just different.  I think after a few hundred miles it'll be as comfy as the roadie...Anyhow, I love it and am not feeling buyers remorse - even tho that was a lot of $$$$$....I hope to ride tomorrow..

Drum roll - BIKE PORN!

Oh Wilson, I can see you are in love... I hope you didn't strain yourself trying to hold the bike up in the air!  I'm with Joe, I have the Cobb V-flow Plus.... started with the regular one and it wasn't quite right, but I'm liking the Plus... 6 month no questions asked return/exchange policy too!  Is there an accent color on the bike, or was it just the way the light was hitting it?  Almost looked like a gold color.  And the white bar tape, you're gonna want it gone before long, gets dirty really fast and doesn't clean up well.  EASY fix, and if the bike is all black and white you can choose ANY color to use as an accent!  That bent top tube has always been intriguing to me on the Looks.... What components does it have?  And is it 2011, 2012?  I'm hoping you got a deal on a 2011.  The 2012 B16 is all black and white too, I'm glad I got the lime green!  It's sure looking like I'm gonna have my work cut out for me in Waco in July!!!!!!  Felt vs. Look!

Rec-Specs?  That's IT!  You're SO dead lmao.  And Wilson, so sorry to hear about your poor taint, my lack of T.I.T.S. has definitely left me walking like the prom queen a few times.  STINKS! Love the bike, and I REALLY like how you took pictures of it on the side of your house like a family portrait.

Hey all, Tammy Tucker is having foot surgery tomorrow so send her some love!!  She'll be sitting on her arse eating bon bons and vicodin for 3 weeks, so don't feel TOOO TOOO bad for her, ha ha!!  Maybe she'll blow up into a giant sized couch potato and I'll be able to be a faster runner than her... yeah, fat chance I know, but it's worth at least the thought....

Sweet ride Wilson!  I am so jealous!  But since I haven't actually ridden my bike lately I guess there'll be no new bike in my future -- until I start regularly riding the one I have, right?

Hey Peeps!! Wilson that bike is one S.A.B!! Lemme know if you need a translation.... ;-

Indeed the surgery went off w/o a hitch this morning and I am STONED on some vicodin which is keeping me uber nauseated so the only thing I have had to eat today is some toast that came back up and some crackers that did the same. Sippin some sprite now trying to make peace w/my belly.

Hilde my dear, I am going to consider this your HEAD START to get faster than me for the Cowtown HM!! Whatcha think? Between sitting on my arse for 3 freakin weeks and all the bonbons it should be easy for you to make your run pace faster than mine!! LOL

For the record, after the surgery the Doc informed me that indeed, the nerve they snipped was PISSED OFF and much larger and more inflamed than it should have been. Good to know when one goes under the knife that the surgery was not a waste of time, yes?

Okay, so spell check just went on strike because my brain, under the influence of hydrocodone, is not so good at typing...spelling or speaking in general so will catch ya'll later!!
