I'm bib 761. They give you tatoo numbers to put on yourself race morning, which is pretty cool. I just got a short swim in an everything felt great. Don't think I'm gonna need anything but the two caps - thanks for that tip Brenda!

Well I am finally closing in on the taper. I did a 2 hour 4000 meter swim yesterday evening at the pool. It was long and slow and freakin boring. Like watching paint on the wall dry boring LOL. However it reinforces the fact that as bad as I am as a swimmer I can do the IM swim distance so I have no excuses. I got a solid two hour bike/run brick in today and tomorrow I follow it up with my last big workout. I will be doing a 102 to 103 mile bike and will follow it up with a 2 to 3 mile run and then on to the taper.

I think based on my situation and the circumstances I've done all I can do to get ready for IMWI it's in God's hands now and hopefully he'll guide me along on race day. I don't think I could've worked any harder or done anymore that I've already done. Man I've never worked harder in my life for anything than I've worked for this. The hay is the barn and after tomorrow this will be the longest 14 days of my life. Wisconsin here I come!

BT needs a like button. This is very well stated. You are totally prepared. Onto Madison...

Busy week this week with kids going back to school. My wife and I are sleeping on a brand new mattress this week too. Waiting for the mattress to break in a little since it is a firmer mattress than we had before and its leaving me a bit sore in the mornings.

Just finished a short brick workout in preparation for my next races. I'll be racing next Saturday at the Tinman (sprint) in Mount Shasta and then the Superman (mini sprint) the following Sunday at Rancho Seco.  I'm going into the first one as a training race. it has a single mass start of 300+ competitors so it should be an interesting race experience.

Good luck!  Have you done the Tinman?  Be careful of all the newbies out there.  That mass start concerns me with so many people that have never participated in a triathlon.  It's a fun race, though.

Wow that is surprising to me that they would do a mass start for a sprint. Most of the local races here typically do a wave start or time trial start. Especially for first timers that seems like a pretty rough introduction to a triathlon swim.

It's a little scary.  In the past, they split the race into males and then females.  It was still a crazy huge number of people to swim with.  One year, my husband and I both did the race.  He went in the first wave (obviously).  He said that it scared him to death when he heard the horn for the women's start.  He said we looked like a pack of sharks out to get him!  LOL!!!!

Hahahaha, Warren!!!! Wink

I almost did pass on it.  My friend said we could go slow and take the route that went past all of the bathrooms.  When we met of with our other two friends a bit further down the road, they were happy that I was going to ride slowly so they could keep up for a change.  It went ok other than being totally low on energy because I'm afraid to eat anything.  My niece has a high fever.  I think I'm fighting off the same bug she has.  Hopefully I don't get sicker.  Anyway, no incidents on the bike!  Thank goodness!!!!

Tracy thanks and you are one brave lady. I hope you are feeling better and I though it was pretty funny that your friends were happy they could keep up with you. Sounds like me trying to keep up with the bunch I ride with.

Got in 90 miles on the bike today... that's a new personal record for distance. I think it'll be a nice confidence booster knowing I can already hit the big numbers... now, could I have ran a marathon after today's ride? I dont know... but na.

If anyone is looking for nutrition on long rides, I've been trying out infinit and really like it so far.

Will great ride today, you're coming along nicely on the distance. Did you run off the bike? If you didn't you should, even if it's for a mile. I don't think you need to do anything more then 2 or 3 miles off the bike after those long rides. I think my longest was 112 miles on the bike and 5 miles on the run and that was to make sure I had my nutrition down other wise any long ride like that I did a few miles off the bike to make sure I could run.

x2 on Infinit, I love that stuff. That is going to be a big part of my nutrition and hydration for the bike at IMWI.

Good job on the long ride, WILL!  Have fun working on the taper, TONY (after doing your last long ride of course).   I've heard of Infinit but haven't tried it so I quickly got on their website.   Do you guys use the pre-packaged products or have it customized?   If you use the pre-packaged, then which products do you like so well?    I'm going to be working hard on my nutrition because after all these years I still don't know what I'm doing.  I DO know that with going 140.6 it needs dialed in.

Brenda I went with a customized product. I have two formulas that I tried, one for less than 3 hours and one for more than 3 hours. The batch I have now is for more than 3 hours obviously. It just has more calories. I am planning to use Infinit on the bike leg at IMWI. It's easy on the stomach and I've had no problems using it for my century plus rides. I've used it for long runs as well in the past. I'd recommend giving it a try, it's not cheap but it's much better than the powerbar perform or gatorade products I've used in the past and it does the job well. I am planning to live off the course at IMWI with the exception of having infinit on the bike.

I use Hammer Sustained Endurance.  It works well.  I, also, use their Endurolytes and have noticed a big improvement in the way I can handle the heat.

I'm signed up for B2B in WIllmington, NC on Oct. 26. Funny story, one reason this one appealed to me was that the swim is usually with current... but the tide charts for this year are showing no current... time to start swimming more... ha!

Tony - I did not run off the bike today as my plan did not call for it (and it was pretty hot by the time I finished), but I have run off the bike on some previous rides. My plan does call for some stout bricks in the future though.

Brenda - I'm currently using the Go Far standard mix... but thinking about getting a custom w/ more calories since I plan to use just infinit on the bike...

OMG you had to be a prune by the time that swim was over! Hope you have a great ride tomorrow. A two hour swim should be pretty tame compared to the long treadmill runs and trainer rides you have done .

OK, biggest bike week for me ever is complete with 176 total miles. The funny thing is out of all those miles the hardest were the 11.5 I rode on my hybrid through the country. Hills and wind are magnified x 10 on that bike! The only good thing is I am faster going downhill .

If you are a facebook friend you may noticed my plead for a runner to join me for the HIM aqua bike to make it a team. I thought the race had an aqua/bike division but they don't so I will have to take a DNF. JoAnne was nice enough to consider joining me and travel 4 hours to help me out! So generous! But, I have tried to talk her out of it because this run has the potential to be brutal. It is supposed to heat up here this week with highs in the upper 90's and the run has zero shade. The run course is 2 laps on a country road through the corn fields so the air flow will not be good, brutal in the heat . I'm afraid anyone traveling to the area for this race might never come back again!

Sounds like Warren is putting in a solid effort. Hopefully he can drop the hammer on the bike.......and then maintain control coming through the chute.Well I had a pretty solid 10k this morning. Wasn't expecting much at the start but everything felt easy. I tried to run about a 4:45/km pace for the first 5k then see what I could do from there. I wanted to negative split the run, but it's a hard course to do it on as 500m of the last 600m are straight up a hill. I haven't looked at the garmin file yet, but I think I was able to do it. I lowered my time on this course from last year by 4 minutes, and lowered my PR by a minute. And I still felt like I had some in the tank. Great run and an unexpected PR!
