Home after a really tough week at work.  One of the "youngsters" on my team fainted today. Not enough sleep, food, etc.  Fortunately no head bumps.  One of my docs checked her out and she was fine, just embarrassed.

Plan calls for a 7 miler this weekend.  Going to be rainy and cold.  Will hope for a window of no rain, or will just have to htfu.  NO way I'm doing that on the dreadmill.

serendipity - 2009-10-16 12:56 PM Went to the gym.  Did 3 miles on the treadmill and a strength workout.

Good job! Anything 3 miles or more on the dreadmill is torture for me. Staring at a wall for that long just isn't right. KIU!

We have the nicest view from the treadmills at my gym.  They face big windows which look out into the forest.  No road or anything in sight.  There are some bird feeders up too.  Simply fantastic!

serendipity - 2009-10-16 1:46 PM Just got firewood delivered.  Where is "loading a pickup truck full of wood into the woodshed" on the training log?  Smile

I think wood chopping is the closest you'll get.  We need to get our firewood situation figured out soon.

Tried the run out and it failed miserably.  I walked a Y lap and then said I will run 1/2 lap and see how it feels - it loosened up a little so I walked the other 1/2 lap.  Then I tried again and I could feel the tightness/pain so I gave up and declared no running until Monday.

sorry Bill...but you have to listen to your body...it is trying to tell you something.

This is not something that should be done on NATIONAL GOOF OFF DAY. You will have to red-shirt your goof off day until a later date. You can still come play football in the mud with us though.

skrtrnr - 2009-10-16 10:17 AM GHOULIE TEAM QUESTION:  what will you/would you do to celebrate NATIONAL GOOF OFF DAY?

Morning: sleep in. No question.

Afternoon: touch football in the mud. Either that or golf if I can't get some teams together.

Evening: cold beers and the Big Lebowski.

TOM.

football in the mud, im SO there....that leaves how many more people to recruit?!

stacieb

I would take a break from doing absolutely nothing to play football in the mud. Can there be beer after the game?

Of course there would! Last year I was invited to play for an annual Thanksgiving game my friends put on here in town. The game clock was a bottle of Wild Turkey that people would have to drink out of if there was a really good or really bad play. Good times!

If there is a bottle of Wild Turkey American Honey I'll just sit the bench and keep it company

Well SOMEONE would have to keep it safe. Way to be a team player and volunteer for this most-important position! You still have to come in and get muddy though...
Oh, I'll absolutely play in the mud.

Oh well!

Anyway... question for everyone:

I think I have talked the DH into doing the RNR HM in Nashville on April 24th...but he also wanted to do one in Illinois on May 1...I think doing 2 with only a week between them is too much...Am I wrong?

I would vote go, but that's only because I'll be there. If you're just going to have fun then I'd do it. I was going to do 2 that were 3 weeks apart but when I went to register the one was full already.

Personally, I'm trying to come up with next years schedule and I'm trying to decide how close together I can do an Olympic distance tri and a half marathon. I was thinking of doing any Oly on Aug. 15 and a half marathon on Sept 6th. I'd like to do a full marathon but I don't know if I can do a full right after the Oly. Any thoughts? I have found I love running now, so I have 3 HM's on my schedule, I'd like to do a full marathon sometime in the near future. I thought of the last HM next year being a full, but I'm thinking of doing my full next January in AZ.Did any of that make sense?I see I'm also approaching 200 posts.

I'm planning on a 7 miler this weekend too. I'm going on Sunday. Luckily the forecast is as follows: "It's San Diego... I think it'll be fine." Hopefully you won't have to HTFU too much.

At least I'll be running with a 23 year old guy who just graduated from Officer Candidate School. I'm already planning on having to cash in a few HTFU points just keeping up with him.

That's not bad at all! Maybe I'm just jaded. The treadmills at my last place of work (USS BENFOLD) all looked directly into white-painted steel walls. No fun... Although the rocking of the ship was really good for the stabilizer muscles...

Depends. On my Hal Higdon plan, the Sunday before race day is a 12 mile long-slow-run. If the Nashville course isn't too rough and he runs is at a steady pace and takes it real easy that week, he may be good to go. Then again, I am ANYTHING but a running coach, so I highly recommend you get a second opinion

I'll be thinking of you while I'm running my 5 miles by myself in the cold and rain. On second thought can I come follow behind the 23 year old?
