I'm a fan of your basic chocolate chip cookie, they have to be soft though, not so much of a fan of the crunchy ones.

PB cookies are good, too, especially with the Hershey's Kiss in the middle of them.

Has anyone ever heard of or had potato candy? My dad makes it. It involves a boiled potato all smushed up, lots of 10x sugar and peanut butter, I think maybe a little vanilla, too.

My favorite "Christmas" cookie are cutouts but my favorite cookie at Christmas are my s-i-l chocolate chip cookies - yummy - plus peanut butter - plus pb with the Hershey Kiss in the middle

I will have you know that I make the second best chocolate chip cookies this side of the Mississippi. My SIL's BFF makes the best.

Send some samples and let me be the judge Smile

Send me an address and I'll be sure you receive a box of Christmas cookies. I may be baking some this Sunday, not sure yet, but definitely before Christmas.

me too.  nothin finer.

as for potato candy, never heard of it.

its always the oddest sounding combinations that seem to taste the best.

i make Heathbar Cookies out of Saltine Crackers, brown sugar, butter, baking soda and chocolate chips.  so, so good, but most people cant guess that you use Saltine Crackers as the 'base'

uber yummy.

Did Stacie just hit on me?

I have made my chocolate chip cookies for other people at their request. I have also been known to throw some Macademia nuts into them as well.  I'm looking forward to baking cookies for the holidays.

If you guys PM me addresses I will try to get you out some so you can judge for yourselves. That just gives my daughter and I more of a reason to bake.

wgraves7582 - 2009-11-17 2:09 PM Alright ladies I will let you in on a Healthy option for chocolate chip cookies that I devised on my own:

instead of 1/2 cup sugar use 1/4 cup of honey only (don't add the other 1/4 of sugar)

use whole wheat flower instead of white flour

Throw some oats in there as well

They burn a little easier but they are very tasty and somewhat good for you.  I still have not figured out what to do instead of brown sugar (someone mentioned molasses but I have no experience with that)

Give it a shot and let me know what you think!

I will try that, but I'm going to stick with my traditional recipe as well. I know a lot of old timer cooks, I'll ask about the molasses.
