Batten down the hatches, Neal. It looks brutal out there. Yes it is making its way toward us Nekkid. We are getting the winds late tomorrow (hopefully after I get home on the bike) and then through Thursday. I have to commute either Sat or Sun to end up 100% on that. Did we ever decide if we can go over % wise this month? Didn't you say something about going to 105%? I should be a tad over 100% on both of mine, providing after I finish the marathon. |

We should put it out there if we are going to agree to 105%. That is typical so if you want and since you are our leader give me the go ahead and I will post in their thread. 1) Um... do I come off as the leader kinda type? 2) Go ahead and let them know that 105% is acceptable. 3) Everbody get out there and get your workouts done and get to 105%!!! Bill you'll just have to work overtime this week. |

Champion 6656 | Subject: RE: Ghoulies vs BT Thread 2 Ok...so SVTs--SVT=supraventricular tachycardia--so tachycardia originating in the atria/upper chambers of the heart. So the heart is essentially an electrical organ with 4 chambers--2 atria (upper), 2 ventricles (lower). Normal electrical conduction occurs from the top right chamber down to the lowest point of the lower left chamber. There are 2 main points of conduction in the upper right portion of the heart. The SA and AV nodes. These are responsible for the creation/conduction of a electrical impulse through the heart. Ann--AVNRT and A-Fib are just a particular types of SVT. There are about 7 types. sinus tachycardia, AVNRT, atrio-ventricular re-entry, atrial flutter, a-fib and two with weird names I can't remember right now. AVNRT basically occurs when there is a weird conduction pathway in the AV node. Basically think of it as having 2 different "routes" for the electrical current to travel through that are attached through a common upper and lower pathway. The electrical current is not conducted properly through the AV node, which is essentially just an area of specialized tissue. So what ends up happening is there ends up being 2-3 different currents that end up being conducted to the ventricles and makes the ventricles contract 2-3 times more than it should. So you have 1 "fast" pathway that conducts down normally, 1 "slow" pathway that takes time to get through the node due to an area of poor conduction and sometimes a retrograde pathway that conducts back to the atria because of reentry into the fast pathway and results in a random depolarization of the atria that doesn't come from the SA node. Its this retrograde pathway that can predispose to A-fib because a-fib is a combination of aberrant depolarizing currents that sort of collide with one another and create contractions in all different directions. This is the best way I can think of to describe... AVNRT has a low risk of clots because there is less static blood compared to a-fib...in a-fib the blood isn't really being conducted properly into the ventricles and kind of just gets juggled around the atria. Apparently the radioablation is 95% effective in preventing AVNRT from re-occuring. There are drugs as well including adenosine, verapamil, etc. But all the anti-arrhythmic drugs have side effects. If you don't have SOB, fatigue, hypotension, etc then just avoiding caffiene, alcohol, pseudoephedrine, stress (? haha) would be preferred. In general it is self limiting and benign. Helpful? Make sense? |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: Ghoulies vs BT Thread 2 Nice job Melindy. I already knew I had to avoid caffeine (I do have some every now and then). I know I can't take cold or sinus medicine. I know if I'm super stressed, or super tired it sets it off. Also pregnancy did not go well with it. When I was pregnant with my son my HR hit 212 and I ended up in the ER. When I was pregnant with my daughter it hit 330 and they couldn't get it down below 180. I spent several hours in the ER with someone constantly standing over me monitoring the situation. Then I had to go have a non-stress test to make sure my kiddo was ok. My husband had wanted more kids. It was decided that day in the ER that I was done getting pregnant. I was just throwing something extra out there for you into the equation. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Ghoulies vs BT Thread 2 Hello Ghoul's, sorry I haven't been around much this month. Glad that I did not put a goal on the challenge for I would have definately brought the team down. Work has been nuts with the Help Line changing over to my branch. It is beginning to settle down, and hopefully they will get some more staff for me. The two who did come with the Help Line have been fantastic and I feel are a good addition to the team here. I did make it to the gym yesterday and it sure did feel good. |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: Ghoulies vs BT Thread 2 kns57 - 2010-10-26 1:08 PM Any news I need to know about? Melindy posted this earlier For Neal (and I guess Amy...Tom...whomever left early today) We decided "meh" on the issue about non-interest being a reason to not complete challenges (at least I think we decided this and I am summarizing it as "meh") Ann--is not on her game wit wise due to taper--she failed on a joke about a closet and my gyne lectures...but otherwise is doing good. Had a bunch of stuff on her desk to pack for the marathon on the weekend and did a easy hike and an 8 miler yesterday. BIL might be posted somewhere in WA and someday she might end up coming over to the great Northwest for a visit. Kim--was busy doing work related stuff this morning. She did an easy 3 miler (arn't you all glad I'm not converting to kms?) and is feeling good trusting the taper plan for the marathon. She has a trusty plan for dealing with telemarketers where she asks them to explain and then puts the phone down. Robin--DH still in election stuff. Left earlier today to do a run and agrees that firemen are hot. Earlier made a remark about me being in a closet crying over my disapointment which Ann tried to turn into a joke and well we all know what happened there... Bill--Pretended to be offended over my designation that he is not my type due to the fact that married men with children are not my type. He stated that married men with children were also not his type either. Is contemplating doing a bike thing somewhere near where Robin lives and bringing the family to state at Lake Lure (are least this is what I will state I remember from the conversation somewhere between ovarian and endometrial cancer lecture)...Bill rode home in the rain and wind. Dee--eats sugary sweet instant oatmeal for bfast, gave Ann some info on some place I can't remember in WA and then had to go work after suggesting something for me to do over my Nov long weekend. Melissa--is tired. Had 6 hrs of lecture today. Went to the gym over lunch and felt like a pansy. I have to drive my Mom around for a few days because her car is not working. She bought me coffee this morning to make up for my early wake up. I was the topic of Ann's joke about a closet because Robin wondered if I was in a closet hiding because of my sadness over the fact that James Blunt's new album was not released in NA today. I was not in a closet and will survive until Nov 9th when BOTH James and Josh Groban's new albums come out and I will listen to them alone in Edmonton over my November long weekend (unless you want me to come down to Iowa and we can listen to them together over my long weekend? hahaha) |
