wow...I slept in....and still no scudashers have posted....wut up guys?

I am going for another long ride today...hoping the wind is not as brutal as yesterdays 25mph winds! I am still a bit whipped from the wind! but since the rain is coming next week, I figure today should be another long bike ride..cuz I can swim (as long as not lightning/thunder) and run in the rain....I actually love to run in the rain...

Hope you all have a good day...train well and remember we are getting close to the end of our month...time to reach those goals and exceed them...we have to win this challenge or Cat is going to kick our booties! and we arent talking shoes!

GO TEAM!

same house we woke up one morning to a loud bang and my husband gets out of bed and is standing next to our plate glass window in the master bedroom...there was a retaining wall behind the house with a huge sloping yard...all of a sudden a HUGE BUCk deer appeared on our back patio....and behind him was another...they were fighting...of course my husband being a boy and all...says COOL THEIR FIGHTING! as he stood right there by the window...I looked and saw the patio door was open and there was nothing there but the screen between he and these deer...I screamed at him to get away from the door...and when I did both deer looked in...and one jumped up and over our fence....the other could not make it over and kept trying and trying...he turned and looked like he was going to come in the house...and I freaked I just knew that our house would be demolished by him...but he gave it one more time and made it! we laugh about this now...but I tell you..for a very smart man...my dh sometimes has no common sense!

I must admit...this still did not deter me from feeding the deer...they are just too darn cute and those big brown eyes are hard to say no to!

I once had to sit in my car and wait for a bear to leave my front door, it was pretty cool to watch him/her.  Luckily I was just coming home and not going out.

"Rocked the hills" is not *exactly* what I did.

And very definitely, we do NOT have hills here, like what you have in SF. It's just this area is pretty flat, so people were surprised they were able to find a hilly section for the course.

I don't have the picture yet. There was a computer glitch that they need to work out.... The times and chip numbers were good, but the names got messed up.

So when they posted the results, for example, the 2nd place finisher (who was a guy) was listed as "Rosemary" and shown as the winner of the Women's 18+ category.

When the RD tried to fix it, it got even more messed up. (I ended up in the Men's 18+ category, with a guy's name, but a GREAT time. LOL)

The RD said he was going to contact someone to download the files again.

That happened with one of the races here recently too... thats why they still often have someone with a clipboard writing down peoples numbers as they come in at the end of a race.. its like the back up just in case

Seriously Dee - I just read your RR and Im so so impressed!!! You did SO well!

My goal before the race began: To finish.
My goal once the race started: To finish ahead of the Caboose. LOL

I kept thinking of the Lanterne Rouge.

Hey remember there is a lot of credibility in being the Lanterne Rouge

I suspect the 'Cabose' would have had a 'no soul left behind' policy so you would not have been last

At first, I thought they would. But they pretty much just held to a quick walking pace. As stragglers started falling back, they did call out encouragement but they kept on going.

I felt badly for the last place finisher. I talked to her after the race....There were houses along a section of the route, and she said that some guy yelled derogatory comments about her age and weight. A few of us talked to her for awhile, so hopefully she felt better by the time she left. (Hey, she finished the race -- and in the allotted time.)

Im very very sorry that she came up against that... thats horrible! I dont know how people can be so mean and she doesnt give up!

She wasn't really overweight, and she was going at a decent walking pace. So there was no reason for the guy to yell anything at her. (But it's not a great neighborhood over there, and he was probably annoyed that they'd closed off the streets for the race.)

In other news: Port-a-potties are evil.

Great Job Dee! The number one goal is to have fun then finish.

As far as that guy sitting on the sideline was probably drinking and would never be able to finish a race for that matter.

kaqphin - 2009-04-26 8:55 PM I suspect the 'Cabose' would have had a 'no soul left behind' policy so you would not have been last

Nice work talking to her Dee!

Ive been close to the person to finish in a race before... I know the feeling...

Im very very sorry that she came up against that... thats horrible! I dont know how people can be so mean and she doesnt give up!

She wasn't really overweight, and she was going at a decent walking pace. So there was no reason for the guy to yell anything at her. (But it's not a great neighborhood over there, and he was probably annoyed that they'd closed off the streets for the race.) In other news: Port-a-potties are evil.

that is shameful that someone can be mean like that...I was close to 200 lbs my first tri last year and I had nothing but encouragement! after all she is out there and attempting to make herself better! I am sooo glad you were able to talk with her...if I know you...you left her giggling and feeling great about herself!

so whats up with the port a potties?

Great Job Dee! The number one goal is to have fun then finish.

As far as that guy sitting on the sideline was probably drinking and would never be able to finish a race for that matter.

you are sooo right Nancy! MEAN PEOPLE SUK! MEAN DRUNKS SUK MORE!

TOPpage - MISSING MY TEAM RANT!

wow...I slept in....and still no scudashers have posted....wut up guys?

I am going for another long ride today...hoping the wind is not as brutal as yesterdays 25mph winds! I am still a bit whipped from the wind! but since the rain is coming next week, I figure today should be another long bike ride..cuz I can swim (as long as not lightning/thunder) and run in the rain....I actually love to run in the rain...

Hope you all have a good day...train well and remember we are getting close to the end of our month...time to reach those goals and exceed them...we have to win this challenge or Cat is going to kick our booties! and we arent talking shoes!

GO TEAM!

Good AM! Should be able to finish up my goal today. I will be a little over.

GREAT JOB NANCY! I know Dee raced today and rocked those hills! WAY TO GO DEE~ I am waiting to see that picture they snapped of you! have you posted it yet????

and Chris emailed me and said he is up to date but just been busy! YAY CHRIS!!!

I am over my new added time...so I have made my goals...

I am guessing Cat is sick..cuz this is a long time with no messages or inspires...and very unlike her...HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON CAT!

hope the others are doing well and reaching your goals....go team go!

Nice gues... sorry yes Im sick....

Thank you!!!

Im feeling ok as long as I keep the caffiene levels up... not getting all the much work done though!
