ironannekidd - 2010-03-18 10:10 AM Ok Ghoulies, I'm looking at what bikes I want to try out on Saturday. So far I have it narrowed down to ALL OF THEM!

I feel your pain. Do you have a link to the LBS you're shopping at?

ceilidh - 2010-03-18 9:58 AM Tom, isn't this MIL day?

Yup, but she doesn't arrive until evening because she still has to work today. I'll be picking her up at about 7:00 Pacific time. It'll take us about a half hour to get home and it'll take my kids .047 nanoseconds to utterly and completely smother her

that made me laugh, too. I'ts been humorous in the Village today.

Glad I could contribute And may I say that I really appreciate the light-heartedness a lot today. I'm sick of being serious all the time in "real" life!

Oh Honey if you want to not be serious you should come spend a day with me!

Anytime! We could get a whole bunch of Ghoulies together out East and raise some hell! How about bowling? Egging stop signs? Massive quantities of margaritas?

I bet we could get Kim out of bed for that!!!

Hell, she can stay in bed. We'll just attach some wheels and drag the whole thing along with us!

I think your search range of the two Felts and the Equinox 7 are a good start. If that QR Santo fits you may want to at least check it out. I know some people really love titanium bikes, but they're not for everyone. Looking forward to hearing how it goes!

Maybe the Cerevelo P1

We'll have to see

I don't want to pick a bike now, I just want to go in with this is how much I can spend, which bike fits me best.

Not prying but what is the price range?

I'd like to stay less than $2200

My FIL talks everyone into a discount. I'm wondering if I can maybe try to get 10% off of the Felt B14 if that fits me.

Do you have a rough size yet?

Nope. I saw someone put a calculator in Tri Talk but I don't have all of my measurements.

My roadies have always been 52cm, but I don't know how that translates into a tri bike.

As for the discount, if it's on the floor at list price then getting them to knock down 10% shouldn't be too tough. Do they carry most sizes in stock or are you looking at potentially waiting for them to get the right size shipped?

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-18 10:30 AM Clicking back and forth (but my thinking is skewed anyways) I dig the Felt.

But if I ever buy a Tri Bike a Felt it shall be - already predetermined - just need to make the decision to do so.  But since I can't run more than 1.5 miles right now no need to worry about that

Yep - just did the click through on the Felt/Cervelo/Trek and Felt wins

But it is your money and you have to go with what fits!!!

Amen. You can always upgrade/replace components on any bike, but fit is forever.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-18 1:27 PM Well if it fits I would be all over the Felt S22 52cm bike for $1799.99

The Cervelo P1 Ultegra is nice also.

The trek wsd will probably fit better because they are female compatible???

This leaves you room for pedals and other fun stuff and it is Ultegra on the Felt and Cervelo so you cannot go wrong there!

I'm a Trek fan, I've owned several, but the Felt's and the Cerevelo are SWEET!

This is going to be a very difficult decision. I'm hoping that 1 stands out as clearly feeling/fitting better than the others so the decision is a little easier.

Thanks for the help, too. You know more about bikes than I do, I appreciate the input!

More than likely they are not going to drop bike price - they will discount other purchases but the profit on a bike is so low it is hard to do it that way - unless you build like I did and he discounts all the components separately

My LBS has done that. I've bought bikes there then they discount any accessories. I'm not counting on them to do it, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

I think they carry most of the stuff. They have several different stores. I'm heading out for the day preparing to go to 2 of them. There is another that is a little closer to Baltimore, I'll be going down to my sister's next weekend, I may stop there on my trip. I'm hoping if they don't have something in my size that they can get it from one of the other stores.

One would hope so. I know the local Trek franchise has a few stores and they have a good reputation for getting bikes from location to location.

Well my thinking is skewed as I said - I am in a different camp than you on manufacturers but I have nothing substantial to compare it to I just prefer certain bikes over the other.

I would buy Felt all the time if they had the bike that I needed.  I tried to convince myself to buy their cross bike for TransIowa and playing around but the Salsa just worked out better.  My LBS has them though and I drool every time I walk in the door.

I should upgrade to their road bike at minimum but I like torturing myself with single speeds and good stuff like that Cool

I REALLY like the Felt's. But I am trying so hard not to go in there with my hopes built up. I want a bike that fits not the one that's I think is the hottest.

I bought 2 horses because they were pretty, it blinded me to their faults, I have scars from both of them.

I don't want to make that mistake with a bike. I want something that fits me the best that it can. I don't want something I think looks great but isn't a good fit.

Could one of you guys go along. I'll be blindfolded and you just put me on the bikes!

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-18 1:27 PM Well if it fits I would be all over the Felt S22 52cm bike for $1799.99

Let me get this straight, you want to spend the weekend with two guys and have us blindfold you so you can go for a ride?!? Where do I sign up?

Guaranteed. Petty Officer Filtranti was most definitely not my cup of tea.
