Haha! My fav is the 14. Guy who bought a nice new white spandex unitard and shaved all of his extremities.

I think I would be the person who looked like they got flour-bombed with sunscreen.

Bob's Doggie Shoes right here!

OKAY I HAVE IMPORTANT NEWS FOR ONCE

I nearly dropped dead when my dad asked me if I was still planning to do the Ironman race in Perth (WA) in December, and if they'd really let me carry the Indonesian flag over the finish line. He asked me if I would get a medal, and maybe he could have it if he was still alive? (SEE BOTH MY PARENTS JUST WANT TO STEAL MY STUFF HA HA)

I didn't think he ever noticed I did triathlons or anything like that. I am shocked my father knows anything at all about my life that doesn't have to do with him.

He also said he'd hit up business friends for official sponsorship (most of my trip expenses are already paid but there's ALWAYS stuff I need money for on a major trip!) ... currently the most promising is Indomie, which is Our Nation's Very Most Favorite Brand of Instant Noodle! (and they export to Australia). Powerade Isotonik only sponsors me for local races and gives me free product.

Well, good on your dad for taking some interest. That is really nice to hear after what you have told us thus far.

Double nice for some sponsorship. That ish is expensive. Triathlon reaaaaaally racks up the $$$$ man, I can't even believe it. Even just running is crazy expensive.

And  Indomie, really?!?!?! Do I really have to wait until your 40th for a visit?!?!?

Woooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooo go Yanti, GO!

(sorry I left that out as I was distracted by noodles)

I have family members/friends that ask about my races.  I also have people (my step-mom) who always ask how my marathons are going.  How do you answer that.  Do you say "fine"? Do you correct them?

Also, I hit my hand on the ladder at Masters this morning and it is swollen and starting to really hurt.  No ice at the office. Frown

Ouch! Ice tonight!

Yeah, hahaha a lot of my friends and fam don't get it. It's hard to explain to them that every event I do is not a marathon and ALL marathon's are 26.2 miles and not all triathlons are Ironman distance.

My dad's actually both the worst and best person I know. (He just isn't the best very often). Not just because he's my Dad; everyone who knows him agrees, and the extent to which they tolerate the worst-ness (or have been affected by it) determines where they lie on the Friend-to-Enemy scale. There's a reason we have armed freshly-ex-Special-Forces piglets running around.

One thing I will say: I'm probably the person who knows him best, and still he never fails to surprise me.

Of course you mustn't wait 'til my 40th. That's four years. You know what could happen in my life, in this country, with this family, in FOUR YEARS?! Then again, we'll be having Fatboy Slim, so ...

Indomie (and to be fair, any of the instant noodles sold here) aren't anything like the yucky bland slimy ramen stuff you get in the States. We turn our noses up at anything that has less than four different types of seasonings included. We prefer five. Most of them also have egg protein included so they're not just straight carbs.

(We won't discuss the trans and sat fat, processing, preservatives, MSG ... )

Yowch! Can you run cool water on it a few minutes at a time, several times? That should help a bit at least.

I'm just so grateful anybody shows an interest, I don't mess with the details, I just say how it's going (however it is), thank them for asking, and make sure to ask them about something important in their lives.

Then I pretend to listen while I'm rearranging my training schedule in my head.

Engine. Not bike. The bike you have is fine.

Olympic Trials. For MARATHON. Not cycle road race.

Cousin at the baptism on Sunday to her husband - Jo did a half marathon this morning - tick correct.  She is doing THE MARATHON - next year, you know the one that comes past our house, he looks puzzled - I say oh you mean Ironman - oh he says THE TRIATHLON - phew he got it.  She's pretty though so gets away with sh*t.

I am celebrating a very special birthday in 2014 - 50!!!  Best friend and I are turning 50 the same year and our gift to ourselves is a trip to Kona - a package to watch the Ironman....would love to see some manatees there.  October 2014.....just sayin'

I thought i was imagining him hitting on me, then we started talking as we always do about Ironman blah blah, and then he said you need to come to the gym with me on a Monday night, got a special workout for you....I've not been yet.  Then how about I take you for a ride one weekend morning, just me and you.  And the last time - talking about how he loves going camping - next time why don't you come with me, I'll show you the ropes...

Yes he's married, with one son from previous marriage but he's got a cheeky naughty twinkle in his eye that makes me know he's naughty.

Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to run the last bit with me--that's a DQ--but pleeeez hold on to the flag for me. At Melbourne I had it in my run special foods bag and was just going to carry it the last 21km!

Well  hopefully I will be at the finish and will run last 1km or so with you and can hand the flag over!  Just gotta book my flights and they seem cheapish at the moment - so payday watch out I'm booking!  Cannot wait.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! Beautiful hot Jo piglet-magnet sherpa!!! The very best kind.

Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to run the last bit with me--that's a DQ--but pleeeez hold on to the flag for me. At Melbourne I had it in my run special foods bag and was just going to carry it the last 21km!

Ah geeze, you ladies are gonna be out of control in WA. Send us pics of she shenanigans please Wink

I predict cake, piglets, pizza, great passionate displays of emotion, and a whole lotta T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

But that's okay, I'm sure there will be lively parts as well

That sounds about right. Huh, Piglets before or after the race? What's your strategy?
