Wow, there is so much to do.  It all depends, if you like music there are tons of places to go see a band or singer.  Big or small venue.  I like to see bands at the Metro or Empy Bottle.   During the day there is shopping, Michigan Avenue is pretty the place to go for everything.  But it is crowded.   However it is also by the lake which is cool to walk along.   Then there are the museums.  I like the Art Institute my wife likes the Museum of Contemporary Art.   At night you can hit one of a thousand restaurants.  For fancy schmancy expensive I like Charlie Trotters or Everest.  Everest has a great view.  Both are pricey and you need reservations in advance.  But there are other cool little spots.  Google Time Out Chicago for ideas.  Lincoln Park has some cool bars but it is a young college, post college crowd.     Funny story I had some friends in from CT and we took them to a Burlesque Show then hit a bar.  It was awesome.

Great!!!!  Thanks for the options.  Sounds like we're going to have to have more than one adult weekend over there.  Fine by me.

chartierm22 - 2008-11-20 1:55 PM Hey kristin I also wanted to ask you if you think compression wear would help with knee pain?

i'm not sure, but I imagine so, at least from an inflammation standpoint. I haven't done anything in my tights except recover.

Im havinga few knee issues ( I have had runenrs knee for about a year) since I ramped up the training again...

Ive taken to pulling the calf guards up over my knee... but Im seriously going to get some 2XU compression tights when I have spare cash to get my knees and also upper legs all compressed too...

Im pretty sure it will help... not fix but help...

Stacie!  Hope you have a fun celebration when you get home!

Thanks Beth. My luggage was lost but once we got out of the airport we had hot wings and beer (ok hubby did - I had a nice wrap and sprite) and then home for a hot tub and bed. Only to be up 4 times during the night.

I saw 5 places today. One is a friends place that I could get with no brokers fee, and it is rent stabilized. I liked it. But there are no actual closets, but it's a railroad - which means it's a series of rooms that you have to walk through, like a railroad car - so I could make an entire room a closet. But there is a massive highway, the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE) right out the bedroom window and 15 minute walk from the train. But it was nice.

I saw the place next door, gut renovated, never been lived in, also nice, but still, the highway.

Then I saw another brownstone, a full floor, 2nd floor, all the original detail. Tin ceilings, inlaid floor, all the original moldings on the walls and floor boards, a fireplace (not working), but the BEST location you could dream of. 3 minute walk from two subways, about 2 blocks from jmk-brooklyn, one of my bestest friends , and seriously how living in Brooklyn should be. But it was expensive ($2K/month, 12% brokers fee), so I called and said I'd pay $1,900 and 10%, Jan 1 lease - and the broker called me back tonight and said it would work!

So I'm taking my hubs out there for a second opinion tomorrow at 7, and if all goes well, I'll apply. I may not get it, and it's more than I'd spend to move into the friend's place, but it's amazing. It's picture perfect. The kitchen is ridiculous, but between work and the IM, I'm not cooking anyway. I hope it works out!

If I can butt in - I hope you get it. But.. Can I ask what a broker's fee is?
