iowagander - 2009-11-17 11:13 PM Good evening Ghoulies! I had my 3.5 miler today and it felt pretty good even though I was still full from lunch. I like the route I used today because there's a foot bridge with some stairs near the start/finish. Makes for a nice little calf workout!

Tomorrow I need to get down to the track for some 400m repeats. Should be fun!!! :P

well look at you MR. RUNNERMAN!

way to go!!!

[i detest running stairs, kudos to you for working them into your route!  WHOOP!]

oh man.  the sun is shining right in my face.  feels soooo goood.  but manohpete, its cold outside.

dont have enough time before my appt to get my run in [well id get the run in, but id have to go to the drs w/out a shower ewwwwww.]

so im gonna take a leisurely morning here at home and go after my appt when its a little warmer.

we've had a particularly 'mild' Autumn, usually its gray, gloomy and rainy.

but we've had these spectacularly sunny/warmish days.

wonder what winter will bring??

7 mile run 'on tap'

i was thinking about doing the annual RUN THE LIGHTS tonight for my run - theres this HUGE CHRISTMAS light display at an former estate which has been turned into a public park.

theres a winding paved road, and when its open to the public, you drive your car through - its 3.5 miles long and a GAZILLION lights.

before the display is open to the public, they open it up to runners and walkers.  its not a race, no official start time, no bib numbers, timing chips....

i thought it would be uber cool to go and do my 7 miles there (two loops)

but i have my Chic Lit book club tonight, again,  i could go and get it in.  they open it at 5:30....but i wouldnt have time to go home and shower.  ewwwwwwww!

so its the streets of Cranberry for me instead.

Stacie - I believe you are too obsessed with the whole taking a shower thing. Take a bottle of water with you, splash some on the sweaty parts, dump on some perfume and go. No one will notice, really.

you guys are just too funny about the going w/out a shower thing.

i.  just.  cant.  bring.  myself.  to.

i wish i could.

but when i can smell my OWN STINK.  LOL.

i got my run in.

cant say it was the most stellar run of all time.  just 'eh' you know that sorta of run of the mill, getting it done kinda of run.

sometimes runs are just like that.

my hamstring (of all things) is sore/tweaked/tight....it was something i did MON during ST, im sure of it.  need to get to the bottom of it.  im sure it was some improper form issue, that or adding in a new excercise.

my guess its either the leg extensions on the circuit machine or the squats w the bar across my shoulder/weights.

no biggie.  didnt hinder my run any just feelin' it when i started out and though dagnabit i forgot BIOFREEZE, the magic elixir.

sure to make all pain disappear in an instant.

60 min spin and ST on tap tomorrow, im 'supposed' to ff up spin w a short/easy 3 miler, but im thinking w this crabby hammy i may forgo the run, to make sure i have 'enough' to finish up the ST.

ive got a challenge to win and A BIG OL DORKFACE TO BEAT.  ill be damned if i let him PUNK me this month!!!!

here's the plan. Splash some water, use the little wipes Tom recommended, douse in perfume, THEN... rub some Vick's on your chest and neck just for good measure. This will help kill any sense of smell that you have and help mask your odor to others. I'm a genius, I know.

As for the run... some are good, some are bad. You got the miles in and that's all that matters. Keep an eye on sore hamstrings. I'm going to highly doubt it was the leg extensions, you don't use hamstrings for those. It is possible the squats caused it, they use all sorts of leg muscles.

Swimming and biking feel great so at least I got that going for me.  I'm a little concerned that the biking may be aggravating things even though it doesn't feel like.  Hopefully the doc will answer that question.

you two are KILLIN' ME.  seriously.

vicks.  car airfreshner.

that would be worse then the STINK from the sweat.

i want to smell like PATCHOULI LIME w a slight hint of Cannabis, remember?!

as for the leg extensions, you would be right about those ANN.

i forgot to say they are back leg extensions/glute press...im not what the name of the damn machine is...but you lay on your stomach w your knee bent and resting on a pad.  then theres an 'arm' that you put your opposite foot on and you push out/back.  definately works you hamstrings...im guessing it was that.

honestly.  i think im in DIRE NEED of a massage.

usually i get one right before or right after a long run-only event, but i just didnt make time for it this go-round.

now im 'sufferring the consequences'

i.  just.  need.  someone.   to.  get.  all.  the.  kinks.  out.

theres a massage therapist at my chiros office but she's always MASSIVELY BOOKED.

im looking for an ART therapist as well, and hoping maybe i can find someone who does both, or at least there are 2 people in the same location who do both.

He's on my list. Generally you have to be over 6' tall for me, I have another requirement as well but we won't go into that here. I made an exception for Mr. Depp, he's only 5'10".

I have a life size Capt Jack Sparrow cutout in my bedroom. It's from a Pirates of the Caribbean party we had for my nephew 2ish years ago. Yes, it does freak my husband and son out.
