dodgersmom - 2011-04-26 6:18 PM Come on kids...

HOLD IT TOGETHER!!

Amen to that .... missed a swim workout earlier this week due to weather so made it up last night and hit my swim this morning. I have a long run this evening 20 miles or 3 hours whichever comes first! Smile .... there is light at the end of the tunnel folks! We are less than 2 weeks from our taper! Every workout counts. We are training ourselves mentally as well as physically. The wind, the long hours on the bike, pool laps that seem to go on forever!

Pep talk over, we now return to normal broadcasting!

Can someone call my wife and tell her to hold it together.  She is falling apart more than I amOf course during my peak weeks I do nothing wrong, nor is it all about me

x3.  My husband cannot wait.  He's basically put his life on hold(ish) because we moved to a new state in January and I've been doing nothing but train since we've moved.  Poor guy.  I promised him no big events this summer so we can spend weekends hanging out and exploring our new state.

My wife is so busy with her life she doesn't even notice my crazy training schedule

Although, she is ready for me to stop talking about IMTX

It's obvious we are all ready for this journey to be over.  There has been lots of talk about time spent training, family members feeling lonely and worrying about things we have no control over like the heat and humidity.

Let's spin this 180 degrees...  What have you GAINED during this journey.  What will you take away other than the medal, shirt and maybe some ink?

For me...
lost 20 pounds of fat that I never want to see again
self-confidence that I am capable of so much more than I ever thought
new friends who I know will still be friends after the 21st
more love (if that's possible) for my husband who was been there every step of the way, usually with a fresh bottle of water

How about you?

They really need and Iron-Spouse Award and Iron-kid award!  This year I am having a get together on the Sunday before the race to recognize those that supported me and my training partners actually get to the starting line.  Those like me with young kids know the big sacrafices made - last night my 11 yr old son called me on my way home from work "just to talk"...  We do all the work and those that love us put up with us and support us.  My recommendation and over the next few weeks take the time to do all you can to thank them -- as long as it does not get in the way of your training of course! Sealed

Great question!

For me,  an immense gain in fitness that has the 45 year old version of me feeling more and more like the 25 year old version of me that used to be a distant memory.

...the loss of 20-25 lbs that would not budge from last year's weight loss plateau.

...the gain of some great friends and training partners.

...the confidence that I can train and race anytime, anyplace and under any conditions.
