Congrats on getting your bib numbers Inagural IMTX participants...whoop whoop!!

It makes it all a bit more real doesn't it?

Anyone figure out how the numbers were assigned? Order you signed up? Age? I'm curious...

Most IMs in US and Canada, go starting with #1 from pros, fund raisers with Janus are usually 75-120 or 130s, then start with youngest men who are 18 A to Z, then do 19 year old men A to Z, then go women same pattern. Usually older women have the highest numbers. So typically men start at about 150 go to 1800-2100, then youngest women onward.

What distance should I plan for the aid stations to be apart?

Aid Stations
There will be 10 aid stations approximately every 10
miles along the bike course offering:
Ironman PERFORM (Lemon-Lime)
Water
PowerBars
PowerBar Gels
Banana

From the athlete guide that was just posted.

Janus is no more, and looks like they just switched men and women (thankfully, for once!). So W18-24 are the first age group after pros # wise. Alpha within age groups.

Nice to see there will be a practice swim.  Too bad my elementary school is having the annual track meet that day for 4th graders.  I have been pumping them up, but I may have to call in that day.  Not sure if being on my feet for 4 hours in the sun chasing 4th graders around is the best thing to do prior to the race.  How will I be able to check my bike in? Sorry kids coach will not be there so I am not nervous about that as well.

Love the "Inaugural" over logo on the IMTX athlete guide. We're kind of a special group! 20 years from now, we'll be saying... we did the 1st one.

If anyone is looking for something cool to do with their bibs, I found this site on Etsy.  She'll turn your bib into coasters.  Pretty cool.

Has anyone heard about race morning logistics? If you want to do anything to your bike that morning (ie air tires, put nutrition on, etc), you have to do that at Town Green Park. Everything else (special needs drop, bodymarking, etc) is at North Shore park. It looks like its a mile between the two. Yes, we are ironman and can walk, but carrying special needs stuff, and before racing, that isn't super high on my list of things to do.

Ew - and it also says "transition open - 4:30-5:30am."....is that it? ie you have to be done with what you are going to do by 5:30? I think that is when I have gotten up for my last ironmans!

ETA - it says bodymarking closes at 5:30 too...so you have to go to transition, walk a mile, and be bodymarked all before 5:30? I'm hoping that is a typo...

Oh, you have to check your bike and gear bags on Friday, but usually you visit your bike on race morning to air the tires, put your bike bottles on it, etc. I also usually put my run nutrition in my t2 bag on race morning as well. I don't want that stuff baking any longer than it has to.

I'm good on bike/gear check...but I'm talking about this statement:

"Athlete check-in hours for Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas athletes are Wednesday, May 18 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Thursday, May 19 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you do not check-in during the designated athlete check-in hours you will not be able to race."

This is problematic for rookies like me coming from out of state and booked a flight that doesn't arrive until very late Thursday. Didn't think I'd get DQ'd this fast...

Ah...oh yeah. That is standard for ironmans. Sorry - that isn't a fun way to learn that :-(

Our kids are having an indoor dance party instead of field day this year. All of the reasons that you listed are why we aren't having field day the week of my "A" race. It helps when you're the PE teacher!

FYI-p. 8 of the Athlete Guide. Interesting.

Special needs bags will not be available after the race. Do NOT place anything of value in your special needs bag as they will not be returned.

That is actual standard ironman policy. They usually do have them the next day, but usually in a huge pile that becomes a free for all. I'm cheap (want the extra tubes and co2 back) so I always go back to get mine and have always found them, but many dont bother.

I was just surprised as we've always been able to pick them up the next day. I don't count on getting anything back either but it is nice to have the option.

I hope we can, I really wanted to pack a 2nd set of shoes for the run. It'd be nice to have dry feet, even just for 2 minutes or so.

Bike Gear Bag.

Helmet and shoes must go in the bike gear bag, understand the rational to have no loose gear in the transitions compound, but I was planning to kick off the bike leg with shoes clipped in....this will be a first for me in a while.
