Veteran 285 indian land, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Show us your Ghoulies - Halloween Run Challenge Page #2 Treated myself to a 10 mile trail run in Guana River State Park. The trails there are nice and big and well maintained! Plus being wooded it blocked the wind coming off the ocean that was gusting 25+mph. Saw a couple bikers on A1A and thought to myself...poor guys! That 10 miles put me at 66 miles for the month, 34 to go! |

Champion 10742 Ames, IA | Subject: RE: Show us your Ghoulies - Halloween Run Challenge Page #2 skrtrnr - 2009-10-18 9:49 AM as if that wasnt 'emotional' enough.... my family has participated in a grief group for families...and while we participated we created a memorial quilt square for my nephew C. C. sustained a headtrauma/massive hemorragh to his brain stem, and died Feb 2008 our quilt square along w the quilt squares of those that particpated in the group have been lovingly sewn together (by a group of 'saints' and 'angels') to make a wall quilt. we've been waiting almost a year to see it.... the MEMORIAL QUILT DEDICATION CEREMONY is this afternoon. this is sure to be sad, emotional, yet a celebratory event. i remember well, after C. passed away. i had a 5K scheduled. no big deal. i didnt have to run. i figured i would just skip the race...but a friend of mine, who works in palative care, encouraged me to run the race and dedicate it, to honor C's memory. the day was butt-ugly cold. i contemplating packing it in and just going home, but....i stayed and ran my heart out, tears streaming down my face the entire 3.1 miles.... i placed 2nd in my AG, my first race hardware it was a special moment. not because of the hardware, but...because i knew in that moment, as overwhelming as the grief was, the loss immense, the sadness saturating, life would go on. im so glad my friend 'convinced' me to run the race... what could have been a moment in time when i could have started 'skipping' a lot of things in life, because the grief was so consuming, the race was one small way of taking that grief and turning it 'on its ears', morphing it into something that was beautiful, wonderful, sacred.... like what i did w my medals and race shirt. what Jules has done for Dorothy.... since then, ive made the attempt to dedicate my races to someone/something.... to live life well, is my honorarium. to C. to others that ive loved and lost...to those ive known, and some i havent known personally, to those that are struggling to overcome, i race for them. and though a 23 dying in car accident is completely senseless, somehow dedicating a run, dedicating a quilt brings purpose and meaning to his life. if nothing else, he's remembered. and that's sacred. SO HERES TO C. and to HIS LIFE that was WELL LIVED. stacieb Wow, another tearjearking story. You are doing wonderful heartfelt things, Stacie. |

Hello pool! Sorry I haven't seen you in so long. Anyhoo, got 2000 in and then quick trip to farmers market and grocery store. Loaded up for the week. Then I came home and made myself a yummy breakfast burrito. It is cold, rainy and very windy here today. I feel a nap coming on. Did the pool remember you? Was it angry that you hadn't come to see it for awhile or did it welcome you back with open arms? |

Hmmmmmm. I feel dirt coming up so maybe my cross bike? Temptations but no flying dismounts just yet! Have a great day everyone! Always a good day in my book when that happens. |

The loop around the neighborhood is a nice little run, but that 4% 1/2 mile hill right at mile 2 kicks my butt every time. Nice work Tom! That hill sounds......uh.......fun. Yeah, fun. Let's go with that. Yeah, fun's a good word. And it's spelled a lot like another word I'd use with the word "painful." Have fun with your heat wave tomorrow. Any big plans? Well, my mom and dad are coming to visit and we are going to go golfing this afternoon. I need to squeeze a swim and run in before that. I hope you were able to get your workouts in! Which course are you guys playing? I love gold in the fall except for one thing - all those damn leaves make it REALLY easy to lose your ball, even if you don't hit a horrible shot. Anyway, have fun. It's been a very productive day. I got both workouts in and then we golfed 14 holes at the Oaks (would have been 18 but my parents had to leave). Winds were 20-30 mph so that made it fun. And yes those leaves were annoying. There were white ones all over the course. Nothing like losing balls in the middle of the fairway (not that I was there all that often). |

Bike ride was nice and cool but sunny. Went to local market and got some fresh veggies for soup and chicken lunches this week. I have to get back to eating better! Time to stretch and go play some pee-wee football! Have a great afternoon! That's called wisdom, Bill |

It was just shy of 6 miles, but my PF started to bug me so I decided to take it easy and not push the extra 0.2 miles. Oh yeah I was still recovering from the "fun" I had at the wedding reception last night. I have a love/hate relationship with the hangover run. It definitely sucks, but its a surefire way to get rid of said hangover. Nice job getting the mileage in! |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Show us your Ghoulies - Halloween Run Challenge Page #2 Hello, Gouhlies. Do you think our plan to lure the other teams into a false sense of security is working? Went to church today, then hubby opted out of working (yay!) and instead we headed up one of the nearby canyons with the ATV and a couple of good friends. Got some cute pictures of my kids playing with their puppy, and this beautiful little green-blue lake. The water was soooo pretty. I wonder what mineral was in the water that made it look like that. The bad news is that I didn't get my run in today. The good news is that because I didn't get my run in today, it puts my schedule for the week in a better place. It should ran/snow Tuesday, so a run M/W/F should be about right, weatherwise at least. I'm headed to bed now, hope you all are having happy dreams of finish lines and lives well lived. Nighty night, Gouhlies! |
