kcarroll - 2010-03-18 9:28 PM Hi Ghoulies.  Had my first ART/PT session for the left knee today.  I think it went well and can tell the difference.  Bottom line:  quads tight, hammy's weak.  I am such a girl.  I am very motivated to stay on track with training, so we'll see where it goes.

Ps, pain factor was very manageable

I think the girl part is why Tom was so eager to bring you coffee in bed yesterday.

ironannekidd - 2010-03-19 6:09 AM Good morning Ghoulies!

Yes, spring is on the way.

I have seen robin's (of the feathered kind, not the Ghoulie one) crocus' and daffodil's blooming. It is supposed to hit 70 here tomorrow!

Neal you could come bike here. Maybe you could give the owner of the Rotweiller a little talkin' to.

Definitely Ann.  Just point the way.  I've had more than my share of close calls with dog's running loose.  If I leave now I'll miss the snow

ironannekidd - 2010-03-19 6:13 AM I'm a little stiff and sore this morning Ghoulies

I didn't sleep well last night. Usually I sleep on my left side, and that is the one that is bruised.

My knee is really sore this morning. It feels really fat although it's only a little swollen. The quad area just north of my knee bothered me when I walked, too. My hip is also bruised and sore. I think my hip took the brunt of the fall.

The good news is I didn't hurt my arms. I'm not even sure I let go of my bike before I hit the ground. Considering my history of hand/wrist/forearm/elbow injuries this is a good thing for me.

I know I'll have to ride that way again sometime. It's a backroad with a long flat stretch and a few small rollers. I like riding it, and it adds a few miles to my trip, which I'm always looking for. Just right now the thought of it makes me nervous.

I'm at work today but I don't know if I can sit at my desk for 8 hours. I may only work half a day. It should be beautiful out and I don't have anything to do here. Maybe going home and catching some Vitamin D would help me heal, don't ya think?

WHY YES.

YES OF COURSE IT WILL.

stacieb

I agree.  After I'm done with the rottweiler owner I'd even be kind enough to bring you a drink or two while you're soaking up some rays, you know since you need to be resting your hip, knee and all

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-19 8:47 AM Alright - Good Morning Ghoulies!

Ann(e) rest up.  Hopefully the knee is just a bruise and nothing structural.  Good thing - at least it wasn't on your new Felt

Is the bike alright?

I haven't looked at the bike yet. I had to call my husband to come get me after I got down the road a bit. My knee really hurt to pedal, I knew I couldn't make it up the hills home.

He put it in the truck and I haven't seen it. It may still be in the back of his truck for all I know.

I didn't notice anything when I got back on, but I was still shaking so bad I wasn't really thinking about the bike.

Here's the story

I was riding the one loop I do. I've ridden on this road I don't know how many times over the past year +. I've seen the dog in the yard before, never had any problems.

Last night I was riding by and I saw the dog right beside the house, which isn't far from the road, he was playing with a boy. I slowed down, I try to be cautious, not give them a reason to chase me. I watched them until I was almost past the house, then I turned my eyes forward thinking I was safe.

I heard the boy yell and I turned my head and by that time I heard the loud WOOF and the dog was right beside me. I tried to put my foot down and forgot I was clipped in and I lost control of the bike. I went down with it. I'm not sure when I got the foot under my bike loose, but when I hit I got my left foot unclipped and when I went to swing it around my bike the dog lunged and tried to bite at it.

I scrambled up and kept my bike between me and the dog. He kept barking and lunging at me. He would go from side to side trying to get around the bike. I thought about smacking him with the back wheel once as he came around.

The boy had yelled at the dog but the dog ignored him and kept coming at me. The boy ran in the house then yelling and a man came out and yelled at the dog. The dog ignored the man, too. The man ran out onto the road and chased the dog into the back yard. I tried to get back on my bike but I was shaking so bad I had problems. Once I did get on I couldn't get clipped in.

After I got going I had to go up a hill, that's when I noticed the pain in my knee, it was bad. I made it to the stop sign at the top of the hill, just under 4 miles from home. The last 2 miles home are pretty hilly. I didn't want to potentially do any more damage to my knee so I called my husband to come get me. He set out my way and I crossed the road and peddled with one foot and coasted down the road. That part was straight and flat.

When I got home my daughter already had an ice pack and a pillow on my recliner for me. That was the scardest I have ever been on a bike ride.

Holy carp Ann.  That sounds horrible.  My heart rate increased just reading what happened. I can't believe you were able to get on the bike at all after that.  Thank goodness you had a ride home.  Have you thought about calling the owner and seeing if they are going to keep the dog leashed in the future?  And if they act like a$$holes, then calling animal control and reporting the attack?

ps, daughter gets a big deposit in the kind acts account.
