Ok..so I am needing to be much better prepared for my rides...this morning I went on a 1:45 ride and all I had before the ride was a nutrigrain bar.  I am thinking that is why getting back in the last 30 minutes I barely have enough energy.  I also only 20 oz water on the entire ride.  I always forget to pick up some gatorade or otehr drink for my ride.  I jsut had a half banana and some oj when I got back.  Ia m actually waiting for the rest of my group to get back- they were gonig for 2.5 hrs (way more time than i have ever done) and we are gonig for an OWS.  So, I will have a bigger meal after the swim.

also Jeff-

Is it normal when first getting into biking that my neck could hurt after being in Aero position for a bit? Or is my fitting not right.  I ahve had it fitted a couple times, but my neck hurts for a day after my ride.

Neck discomfort is normal, but should be getting better with time.  If not you may have to aggressive a position.

buschy - 2007-07-11 3:21 AM Hey Gang, So, on June 12 at 6:08 in the morning, we had our second child. His name, Benjamin Cooper Busch. He was 8 lbs, 13 oz. The family is doing well (although sleep deprived!!) and training has dropped off the face of the earth, and so will I for a while. I just wanted to wish you all the best of luck through your current season and for all of your future seasons/adventures/etc. Cheers ->ed

Congratulations Ed.  He was on big boy, wasn't he???  A little run here and there may be good for you too.

Hi Jeff, Your words of encouragment are overwelming, although i've always beleived you make your own luck! My swimming is going well and this weekend i'm cycling and running the official route. I'v stopped logging my time online as i've got a board at home which i quickly jot done times and progress on. This is much easier to keep track of. Ed, congratulations i hope all is well. My best wishes. Can someone advise me on what type of time i should be looking at for completing my first Sprint Triathlion? I haven't got a clue how long it should take. Thanks, Will.

For your first race you should have no time expectations, just have fun with it and use it as an experience.  If you really want to come up with a time, you know how long it takes you to do each of the events, just add some time for transitions and remember the run will probably be a little slower.

Since I'm sure most of you have not seen my log lately.  Here is a summary of my past few days.

I fractured my right foot in 2 places.  So right now I am in a walking boot and on crutches.  Have to use crutches until I can walk in the boot without pain.  Its getting a little better everyday, but still a pain in the butt.  So there will be no workouts for a while.  Once I can get around better in the boot I will get to the pool and back to the gym.  Just down about the HIM and not being able to do it.

I'm 8-12 weeks from most activity.  With the fracture of my 5th metatarsal cutting across the shaft, having a gap in it and cutting into the stress fracture, its not a positive outlook.  Better then fracturing the base of the 5th which has a very poor blood supply, but who knows.  So no Timberman, no Cyrstal River Sprint #3 and probably have some rehab before I can really get back to running, so my goal now is doing the Gainesville half mary in Feb again.

Jeff! I am so sorry to hear about your foot! How did it happen?  I was actually jsut beginning to wonder where you disappeared to.

I hate getting injured especially after you have put so much work into your training.  I hope it heals fast and you can get a race in at the end of season...luckily we live in Florida...

let me know if you need anything..brownies perhaps?

One of the fractures is a stress fracture that I've had for about 4 weeks or so, got it from running.  And still did a race with it.  Then the other fracture I got on Monday.  Stepped off a curb as I was turning around and my foot rounded underneath me and with the bone already being weak, it just cracked.

Brownies are always welcome

Hi everyone,

I hope your all well.

I completed my first triathlon yesterday. I'm pretty happy with my time and ability on the event.

so;

Swim 17:00

Bike 41:52

Run 25:08

totalling 1:30:08 My T1 & T2 add up to over 6mins 30secs. As this was the largest in the world the transition area was MASSIVE, so swim in running to bike was 30 seconds alone.

I could have done a much faster run, but for me taking on to much fluid and getting stitch/stumic cramps. I did manage a sprint finish though, having my brother there was a hugh boost.

The whole experience was fantastic and i'm definately signing up to a tri club and get involved more frequently.

I'd like to thank you all in this mentor group. I don't stick to commitments very often and you guys have helped. I'm not signing off and will be on from time to time.

P.S. This is the first every medal i've won. WAHOO!

I'M BAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!

Hi guys...Back in Training...6 month of total mess..professional and personal..But I'm good now.

I have my plan already set up for 2008. Started training 2 days ago. After all that time off I only gained 13 pounds.  I'm at 165 lbs. Funny I was 4 pounds heavier at this point last year.

I just had to sort a lot of things out.

Jeff...Sorry to hear about your leg.

Jamie...WAY TO GO on your Tri's ...you have improved a ton.

Will...Congrats on your first Tri.

Ok I'm ready...Lets GO!

Hello everyone,

I'm now getting a bit more serious about Tri. I've started excercising my core, something i should have done a long time ago.

I'm also looking in to a watch; GPS, HRM and the rest. So can you guys advise on Garmin, Suunto, Timex, Polar. I've read some reveiws but am still a bit lost.

I hope every one is well and hope to hear from you soon.

Will.

Hi Will,

I have the Polar 625X... Works like a charm I get all my data from it.. I don't use GPS cuz I normally trace my routes here in BT before going out on  a run...but if you want GPS..I think you should try the Garmin... I believe Jamie has one. I don't know about Jeff tho.

Santa is bringing me a Polar 625x.  I've heard very good things about the Garmin as well.  Only problem is that the unit is a little big.  I think either way you go would be good.

The 625X is awesome...plus I can wear it as a regular watch. Not so with the Garmin..unless you want to look like Batman.

Either unit is fine. But I honestly like the 625x.
