Subject: RE: Rowdypaint's Mentor Group- Sorry, we're full...My first sprint is Sunday. I'm so nervous I can't even begin to THINK about it. I'll have to get my stuff packed as soon as I get home, just to be ultra-paranoid about it. GAH! Lisa --> I just ran my first half-marathon (beginning of May ) with my sister. It was more of a run/walk, really. Ran first 3 miles, walked a minute (or so ), ran 2 miles, walked a minute or so, then walked a little bit after every mile after that. Really felt pretty good for the most part. My longest distance up until the race was only 6 or 7 miles, so you don't necessarily have to run a full half-mary to prepare for a half-mary. I guess the trick is to begin walking BEFORE you get tired. But you will still want to get your run/walk volume up. And you will want to do it gradually (I heard that you don't want to increase your volume more than 10% from one week to the next ). I'll ask my sister what website she was getting her info from, so I can either send it to you or just post it here. |
