How did everyone's weekend go? Mine was light due to recovery week. I went on a group ride on Saturday and took off Sunday due to Achilles on right ankle bothering me a bit. Trying to do a lot of stretching and icing of it in hopes that it doesn't get worse before the 22nd (race day).

Hi guys!

I had a great weekend, though I can't believe that and Monday are over already!  My first tri of this season (on Sunday - link to race report is in my log) was very challenging but I did well and really enjoyed it.  I've spent all of today preparing for our move and I am exhausted!  I'd love to greet you all individually but time is short and my brain's not working well at the moment!  But I hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week ahead.  My time on here will be scarce this next week and a half or so (tomorrow the movers begin packing, Wednesday they load the truck and the truck will leave, and Thursday we'll start driving west).  Hopefully when we stop at night I'll have internet access.  In the meantime, I hope to see lots of chatting and lots of TRAINING (more importantly!) going on here!

Laura, Just read your entire race report. Sounds like you a fantastic day! Congrats! Your report got me really pumped for my race. I cannot wait to see if I like this sport...

As for me, I'm resting a bit this week as I try to wrap my brain around how to train for a marathon and a triathlon at the same time. Oh right, marathon training starts next Tuesday. No running this week. Period. I have swim class tonight (yay! i am totally hearting swim class), and will try to make it to the gym for some strength training tomorrow.

Also, I found an open water clinic that worked with my schedule, so I will be doing the lake thing on June 15 for the first time. It will likely be my only open water swim before the triathlon, but since Danskin seems caters to beginners, I imagine one is more than many people will have under their belts. Who knows though.

That's all for me. Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Forgot one thing. I am starting to freak out a bit about my lack of cycling experience, whether or not my bike is fitted right, whether or not it would be a mistake to ride my boyfriend's road bike because even though it's faster and lighter, it's a lot more uncomfortable. I have fears of riding the bike portion at about 8mph. Frown

Any ideas -- short of getting fitted for a new racing bike...

I'm on a real roll lately and have approx. 2 weeks before my first sprint tri of the season.  I'm on tap for a swim and run on Friday morning, a brick on saturday morning and a ride on Sunday.  Saturday will probably be a longer/more leisurely ride followed by a short run.  If I can get the buy-in from my lovely wife Sunday will be mountain biking on a local trail.  We'll see.

Hi everyone,

I signed up for the bronze membership on BT. Woo hoo! Tonight I'm going to get a swim in (at least 30 minutes), and at some point this weekend I'm going to try to do a longer bike ride. Next week, marathon training begins - it will be interesting to see how I handle swimming and biking when I start running four days a week. In theory, it doesn't sound too crazy, but we'll see.

Have a good weekend everyone! Lou

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to check in and say hi!  I'm in Nebraska right now on my way to Colorado - what a trip it's been so far!  I hope you all have been training up a storm!  It's certainly WAY hot right now in the East and Midwest, so I hope you are all training safely (great time to do some swimming!) and hydrating properly.  Stay cool, and I'll check in again once I get settled in CO.

Hi everyone,

How's everyone's training progressing? I must confess right now I need some inspiration. I trained pretty hard last week, but I'm still not feeling up to my first sprint - June 21. I did a brick session the other day that was very humbling.... could hardly run. And my swimming still needs work. Maybe its time for some mental tricks, inspirational thoughts, etc? At least maybe to keep panic at bay...

Best luck on your move, Laura!

Looking at your training logs it looks like you can certainly do each leg of the sprint.  You can do the swim, you can do the bike and you can do the run.  Just think of it as three separate workouts with a short break between each.  If you have to walk some on the run, that's fine.  It's your first sprint, just go to have fun and finish.

You will do fine and have a great time.  Just the nerves talking.  If you want I can show up with some dogs so they can chase you.  I would even buy a steak to put in your pocket.  Just relax and enjoy race day.

Marcy, I wish I had some inspirational words for you... but I'm drawing a blank (which for me is uncanny). I agree with Mitch though, you have obviously put in the time, and you'll get through it. My other thought would be to go read a few triathlete bloggers who I find very inspiring:

Hi everyone!  Well, I am now in my new home in CO...luckily I was able to tap into someone's open wifi so I can get online, as we're still waiting for the moving van to arrive with the rest of our stuff (including our main computer and wireless router) and haven't gotten our own internet set up yet.  Things will still be crazy and my check-ins not all that regular for a little while longer, but for now I just wanted to say bear with me and keep on training!

Marcy - You WILL do great at your race.  The nerves and doubting yourself is perfectly normal.  You will be amazed how things just all come together on race day.  It seems daunting now, but truly - you WILL do it.  Just remember to enjoy yourself and take some time to just take it all in.

Hope everyone else is doing well!  Here's hoping the movers get here ASAP so I can get out on my bike again (and find a place to swim!).

Hey guys!  I'm still camping out in my own house here in CO (moving van has not yet arrived with our stuff) but I at least have internet access now!  What's everyone up to??  Any fun training or racing plans for the coming weekend?

Hi everyone,

Very quiet on the board this week. Yesterday, I did my first brick workout. You can read about it on my log if you're interested. Also, I'll probably blog about it later today. There was a lot of screaming going on in my head during the bike. The run was better than expected but I think that's because I barely noticed the first mile go by because I was b*tching to my bf about my bike. I'm sure he thoroughly enjoyed that.

My weekend is chock full of training. First, my running group meets to kick of marathon training with 6 miles bright and early on Saturday morning. Second, I signed up to do an open water swim clinic on the Danskin course in Pleasant Prairie. That's on Sunday. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Lou

Nothing like riding your bike through the country.....gentle rolling hills...tall grass blowing in the wind....breathing that country air deep into your lungs.....until a big semi loaded with pigs flys right pass you....yuck!!!....my mouth was open and everything
