this is the dos and donts list that i go by:

The essentials of the Paleolithic Diet are:

Eat none of the following:

· Grains- including bread, pasta, noodles

· Beans- including string beans, kidney beans, lentils, peanuts, snow-peas and peas

· Potatoes

· Dairy products

· Sugar

· Salt

Eat the following:

· Meat, chicken and fish

· Eggs

· Fruit

· Vegetables (especially root vegetables, but definitely not including potatoes or sweet potatoes)

· Nuts, eg. walnuts, brazil nuts, macadamia, almond. Do not eat peanuts (a bean) or cashews (a family of their own)

· Berries- strawberries, blueberries, raspberries etc.

Try to increase your intake of:

· Root vegetables- carrots, turnips, parsnips, rutabagas, Swedes

· Organ meats- liver and kidneys (I accept that many people find these unpalatable and won’t eat them)

i draw the line at organ meats. and bugs for that matter.

ewwwww.

OK.  i know this sounds UBER rigid, and i think it is.  im not ff this diet to a T.  and i think the basic premise of eating like 'caveman' is super duper WHACK.

so i pick and choose.

it was a place for me 'start' when i was considering changing my eating habits to more clean/whole/non-processed/vegetarian.

im eating as nonprocessed as i am REASONABLY able to from breakfast until dinner time.  then i cook a 'regular' healthy meal at dinner for me and my family.

then of course you have the when your friends are in town for the weekend FRIE AND SLAW LADENED SAMMICH EATING....

moderation is key.

Is there a time limit on fortune cookie predictions?

None that I have ever heard of - I would go with until you eat your next fortune cookie and the new prediction supersedes the old one Laughing

Are we going out for Chinese at lunch?

Chinese sounds delicious.  I could destroy the local china buffet right about now

I could completely abandon the lentil salad I brought and join you.

Sure. Where are we meeting. You're in NJ, I'm in PA. Bill where are you at?

Western New York - I saw Corning would be a good middle point for everyone!

I live off of bread and dairy. If I took those out I'd have nothing left but chicken and nuts. I don't eat veggies, I believe they are evil!

Workout weekend with food involved.  I know NH BT'ers do a get together every spring - time to be copycats!

If there is food there must be wine, right?

Hmmm.  I'm a pasta, veggies, rice and beans gal.  Overall my diet is pretty healthy, although when I travel I struggle to get enough protein.  I've been a vegetarian for a couple years so I would starve on this.  But I am totally with you on moderation and tossing all the rules when friends are in town.  I personally think great thin crust cheese pizza and french fries are the world's two most perfect foods.

Sorry I have to have my yams - they are grown in the ground!  So cavemen had no ability to grow food underground?  Curiosity not sarcasm.

Totally agree with following and learning from it - not selling your soul out to it though.
