yesterday's swim/bike went well- 700 m in the pool followed by a 25 minute bike.
The gym was packed this am.  All the treadmills were in use so I did the elliptical for 30 minutes then hopped on the open tread mill for another 15.

Did 1100 in the pool. Forced to use the shorter pool. Was told it was 19 yards. Did 30 laps and did it in sub 2:00/100 meters. Not sure if I believe the lifeguard.

2,350 yard swim.  Reached mile (1,650) at 46:00.  Fastest 500 @ 7:40.  Fastest 50 @ 0:34.  Did a 500 at beginning and end, and a bunch of kicking/drills/stroking and a few accelerations in the middle.

I didn't post yesterday, sorry about that peeps!

Swam yesterday morning (will rant about that later) today strength training, walked 2 dogs 2 miles (tell me that isn't a workout) and now off to basketball game and mixer for my son at his HS for next year.

Got a good run in today 5 minute warm up, 45 minute run, 10 minute cool down.  total time 1 hour.  Breathing is still the limiting factor in how fast I can run.  Today my lungs would only let me go at a 13 min pace... I could bump up to a 12 minute pace for a minute but I would have to walk to catch my breath.  Oh well, I guess I can only do what my body lets me.

Did 1.2 miles in the pool today in 45:55, 10 seconds better than my best time to date. I then took the kids home, ate lunch and went back to the gym for a 2 hours elf guided spin. During the spin, i had two bottles of cytomax, 1 300 calorie bottle of Infinit and 2 100 calorie Gus. After about 1:10 I started getting queasy and cant figure out why. Any thoughts?

During a 2 hour spin you consumed 2 cytomax, 1 300 calorie bottle of Infinit and 2 100 cal GU's. I can tell you why you were queasy. That is an awful lot of calories for a 2 hour spin, even a hard one, and certainly way too much liquid for your stomach to tolerate in that short a period of time.

Curious why so much for the spin?

Now that I'm back in the swing of things, I'm focusing on one hour plus workouts to keep cardio up and try to cut some weight.  Missed posting a couple of workouts.

- Thursday spent an hour on the bike, then 20 minute walk at the end.
- Friday spent 65 minutes on the treadmill:  5 minute warm up walk, then 5x 10min:1min run:walk, then 5 minute cool down at the too slow pace selected by the treadmill.  Not a long enough cooldown.  More like 20 minutes is right or at least at a faster pace.
- Yesterday did an upper body resistance workout.

Yesterday was aerobics morning--
Today I did a pool workout 800m no resistance-- my arms were tired afterwards.  Then after kids were at school a 3 mile run, 1 mile easy warm up, 1 mile tempo (fast for me at 10:54 pace), 1 mile cool down.

I am trying for 3 runs a week, each with a different focus.  Tuesday 5k-tempo run (pace I hope to run a 5k at-- I am planning on building up stamina at the faster pace for the next few weeks), Thursday hill/speed repeats, Saturday long "easy" run.  Will that give me enough balance?  I really want to improve my speed.  Thoughts?

You all are doing great My knee is starting to feel a bit better, rode the trainer this morning, and had to laugh when I finished and saw the results. Ready?

I burned 533,969.6 calories while riding for 1 hour this morning. I should be invisible!

Very slow 3 mile run. Windchill of 16. Not fun at all. Not looking forward to running this weekend with windchill forecasts of below 0.

And congrats on burning so many calories.

Did drills in the pool, 200 free/200 pull/200 kick/100 breast/100 paddles/200 free. Felt okay, but I hate drills.

Got out tonight and did a 3.4 mile hill run. It was pretty cold 12 degrees with a 1 degree wind chill. First hill workout of the training season and did it in 8:11 pace. Not bad.

Scott - depends on the recovery drink. If you are going less than one hour all you need is water. I think too many athletes buy into the hype. Are they useful, absolutely, when you're out riding in the heat to replace electrolytes, use gu on long ride, etc.

Frankly, I prefer "natural" ie a pb&j sandwich vs a cliff bar when possible, but it's not always practical.

I suggest you read the book Nutrition Periodization for the Endurance Athlete by Bob Seebohar will explain a lot of what our bodies need vs don't

Understood and I am using items during workouts - I am wondering about that post workout recovery drink, like Fluid or others.
