Girl Passing on Left - 2011-06-04 12:54 PM Morning Ghoulies ~ Rain is not going to ruin our plans for the day. We (my daughter and I) are about to head out to the Sunset Magazine Festival. It is a huge festival with multiple stages of music and entertainment, tons of food booths and food demos and lots of arts and crafts. Many hands on booths. Last year in some of the booths ~ I made some various chicken and meat rubs, flower lei necklace, painted and decorated a clay pot, did spin art, painted a tshirt - all is part of the admission fee you pay
after ths sunset festival....then we are heading up over to Marin to see my daughters boyfriends bike shop he owns....they have a birthday party to attend so we will probably find a nice place to have dinner and then head home
tomorrow is the escape to alcatraz race. have a few friends racing and so we are going to cheer them on.....fingers and toes are crossed that it will be sunshine or at least not raining on them.

hope you all have a great weekend!

Sounds like a fun day.  You'll have to let us know what you make this year.

It is crazy busy at the library today.

Good morning Ghoulies!

So this is how my day went yesterday.

My son's soccer tournament was a little over half an hour away from here. We didn't know how long we'd be there so we left my daughter with her grandparents. My son's first game was at 9:45, and when the game was over my husband called his mom to let her know we would be staying to play another game, and to see how things were. He talked to my daughter, Keri, and she said she fell off the chair, but that was it.

The next game didn't get started until almost 1:00. They lost that game, so we were done, we headed home. I called the local pizza shop and ordered a pizza when I thought we were about 20 minutes out, because when you order they usually tell you "20 minute". My husband dropped my son and I off at the house, then went down the road to pick up Keri on the way into the pizza place.

When they get home my daughter's arm is wrapped with an ace bandage. A little back story here - my in-laws tend to take things rather lightly so I was surprised her arm was wrapped. My husband started getting plates out for the pizza and I evaluated Keri's arm. She can be a bit of a drama queen, but I've learned to tell when she's genuine, and when she's over-dramatizing. First I had her squeeze my fingers as hard as she could, she had no grip strength. Next I asked her if she could roll her hands over, she could not supinate her left arm. I decided to take a look. While I was unwrapping her arm she started to cry. I got the ace wrap off, and there was obvious deformity in her arm. I wrapped it back up, told her to give me a minute to eat a slice of pizza, I hadn't eaten in hours, and we were going for x-rays.

Two hours after we got to the ER they were splinting her arm. I feel bad because it was 6 hours after she fell before I got her to the ER.

I had to give her a bath this morning and help get her dressed. I'll call the doc tomorrow and we'll go get it casted. The ER doc said she these fractures are common in kids and it should only be in a cast for about 3 weeks, so hopefully she'll have it off that we can go swimming for her birthday on July 3.

Ann, that was quite a day you had yesterday.  Don't feel bad about the 6 hour delay.  That is not uncommon.  Plus as soon as you were aware that it may have been more than a bruise, you were on the ball getting that little angel some relief.  Hope that she heals quickly.

Hubby and I vegged on the couch last night watching 2 movies on DVD.  Switch and the Green Hornet.  Guess I'll have to get us out for a run after work tonight.  And it is supposed to be high 90's today.  Ugh!  It might just be a walk and a dunk in the pool.

Hello Ghoulies!!! I realize I have been gone forever, but wanted to stop back in and see how everyone was doing.  I just started running again after a 10-11 month hiatus.  Hopefully soon I will be back riding and swimming and maybe a tri next summer.  For now I am focusing on running because it is the easiest to do with the little amount of time I have right now.  During my time off I had a beautiful son.  His name is Rhys (pronounced Reese).  He has several medical problems and spent 5 weeks in the ICU but he is getting bigger and stonger and is now 5 months old and just a joy.  Hope all of you are doing well!

Look at that... two Ghoulies making long-overdue stops by the Village today! Great minds must think alike, huh Katie?

I have most certainly had a long, busy, and at times frustrating winter. And I haven't been able to devote as much time as I'd like to taking care of myself. However, things are much better than they are worse, so I thought I'd give all of you a brief update.

-Job: Crazy busy and getting busier. But, we are "realigning" the way we do things, meaning more responsibility for me. This is stinky in the short term but in the long term it will be great career-wise.

-Family: Kids finished school last week and are moving up to 4th and 8th grades. Grr. DW is still dealing with her fibromyalgia but has made some improvement. This improvement has been most pronounced since we got a new puppy a month ago. Something about having little Ruby around to keep her company during the day seems to be doing the trick. Fingers crossed it keeps up. Also, pics to follow of the puppy when I can resize them.

-Fitness: See above. Still having lots of trouble with consistency but I'm going to do what I can, when I can. I'm learning to be happy with that.

I really have missed all of you guys. I think about you quite often, and anytime I do get to lace up the trainers I hope that you are all having good sessions as well. And I promise that I won't take another 5 month break from here.

Katie and Tom on the same day! It 's entirely too warm for Hell to have frozen over, is there a full moon, or maybe a meteor crashing to Earth or something?

I did send my dad a "full moon" last weekend when he taunted me with pictures of fishing and his boat...

Is that what it takes to get long lost Ghoulies back in THE VILLAGE?

Here's Ruby. She's half Basset Hound, half boxer (at least that's what we were told). She's 4 months old now, 32ish pounds, and a very sweet little girl.

She's certainly very lovable. She still gets puppy-hyper but not too bad. And when it's bed time, she just likes to curl up and put her head on mine or DW's shoulder. Very sweet despite her snoring
