Master 1870 Fort Worth | Subject: RE: They Who Shall Not Be Named (Twisnibbins) V enders_shadow - 2007-11-26 3:36 PM Need some Nibs advice...(no, not wine or ice cream, and no, I'm not having a wardrobe dilemma) - I need to get my Spring races picked & registered and I'm terribly torn and stressed about it. (Yeah, I know - the girl needs a new life if picking races stresses her out)... Anyway, I want to do 2 races this spring and my choices are 3/15 Half-Mary; about 1.5 hours away 3/29 Sprint (300 pool/10m/5K); about 1.5 hours away 4/5 10K; hometown 4/13 Sprint (300 pool/25K/5K); about 2.5 hours away 4/20 Sprint (750 lake/20K/5K); about 1 hour away So here's what I'm thinking ... I've never done a half-mary, so that's appealing - especially since I have been upping my run distance. The March 29 sprint is the first race I did, and I'd kinda like to "return to the scene of the crime" and see how improved I am. The 10K is a huge deal in my town...like ginormous...like everyone in town runs it. The April 13 sprint is not really on my radar screen, so I should probably just dispense, but it has a longer bike which would be a nice test. The April 20 sprint would be awesome, because it is a longer, OWS - but it's April people, and last year the water was so cold they offered a du option instead. Starting in early June, there are other races that are reruns of what I did last year and in my hometown (in fact, right across the street from my house). WWND??? (And heya, Judi - are you thinking of any of these?) Kristen I vote for the first two. You already think the half mary would be a great accomplishment and i agree with you. I also agree with your thoughts on your first tri. I plan to go back to the scene of my first tri also. On a side note: My half Mary and Tri were two weeks apart also. |

I think part of my problem is I ate at The Blonde's most of the weekend, and she's low carb, and I quit eating like a junkyard dawg and was actually eating 'good stuff'. But my body is fueled by nutritional and I need to go to Carl Jr's RIGHT NOW and get some crap. I needs my carbs and glycogen! I don't see how Popeye did it on Spinach, man. I need grease and simple sugars. I've got my six pack of Gu. I'm trying to figure out HTF to carry it without a race belt (I really hate the feeling of the belt attached to my waist. I'm thinking of duct taping them to my inside shirt, and ripping them off as I go along... or maybe duct taped to my race number belt. I could carry them in my Nike arm wallet, but I'm wondering whether I'll take my wallet or not... right now I'm thinking two layers with the temp being at freezing at start... a SS wicking shirt under a long sleeve one that unzips. I'm not going to wear anything tight, that just keeps the sweat stuck to my skin and makes me COLD and feeling constricted. Y'all have NO idea how flucking freaked I am right now. Something tells me your going to figure it all out and kick butt on this run. Besides it's you were talking about. What you need is another motivational pic. LOL oh Girls LMAO - Dee - Hector beat you to the punch - although he didn't make any specific promises ;-) I thought you'd get a chuckle out of this. LOL |

Although I have ideas, very little that makes me go.. oh that would be so good! Does that makes sense? Is prime rib very expensive out there? For TG I experimented with a rib, coated it with herbs and salt then made gravy from beef gravy in jar and currant jelly - a 7 to 8 lb rib would serve 10. It was REALLY good!!! Could match with any veggie for a side, homemade mashed potatoes (just add garlic, velveeta cheese, and a little sour cream when mashing) and frozen rolls (easy 'nough). Just call me chef (I love being in the kitchen) Just let me know if you want bovine, swine, poultry, or fish for main course and I think I can come up with a menu and recipes for you. I LOVE meat... that sounds bad right? Im definatley going to do a stuffed chicken or turkey breast roll(s) (cold), aussies love seafood but I wont be doing any unless I get asked specifically(not my speciality but maybe some shellfish at some point)... then probably some cold ham (will just buy a small portion off the bone) to add to the light dinner if anyone is hungry... Im going for variety, was thinking maybe some pork although not sure what to do with it (maybe the hot dish?) or lamp/beef or something...Im a bit lost and keep changing my mind The christmas dinner I went to last year had everything, oysters, prawns, ham, chicken, turkey, lamb, fish.... you get te idea! I dont want to go HUGE but variety is what I like! |

I dont want to go HUGE but variety is what I like! Careful on how much variety you want to provide, with only 10 people you might end up eating on this for weeks. I'll work on a menu and try to get it to you by end of the coming weekend. I'm thinking roasted turkey breast, stuffed pork tenderloin (spinach and crumbled blue cheese), slow cooked beef roast (with Coke and a bunch of other stuff - leftovers make great sandwiches for work). Then there will be potatoes, two veggies (non-starchy), the Watergate salad, green leafy salad, and maybe one or two other things. Oh, there's these ham rolls with cream cheese and green onions, great appetizer. Okay, I'm really out of here, got choir practice in 1.5 hr and takes 30 minutes to get home. Later!!!
